Just got mine in the mail today. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxhcEDB3r-OJ3_X5hQzr7k1ZofTQy1ao_U The corners of the box was a little smashed but I think that’s more of the shipping’s fault. iPad was in perfect condition though. I ordered the yellow one thinking it was going to be a bright vibrant color. Instead I looks like more of a Gold color. I personally prefer the gold look. Definitely not disappointed but just a heads up to the ones expecting a brighter cream of yellow.
Sadly, I believe many forget every product requires accepting the limits of space, protection, and flexibility. The IPads are first and foremost ultra-portable and can be great for reading e-books and consuming media in confined spaces (planes, cars, etc.). This is not easy to do even with an ultra-light MacBook Air. Therefore, the Smart Keyboard Folio's use case is on the tray table on a plane or in a car where spilling a drink on the keyboard will not result in a destruction of a laptop or a magic keyboard. It is for incidental typing, not full-on document processing. The Smart Keyboard Folio was never intended for the use case you attempted and makes since why you were disappointed. When I know there is a need for document processing on an extended trip, I bring the super light Apple magic keyboard in my luggage and the smart keyboard folio for use in confined spaces. The Apple SKF does improve the IPad experience if used as intended.
I had the Logitech Combo Touch. i sent it back because ultimately, when you try to fold it back you have to detach the keyboard an attach it backwards. if you dont do that it wil just fall of if you try to fold it back. magic keyboard was useless for me since it doesnt fold back at all. ended up with the smart keyboard folio and now im happy. less than half the weight of the logitech behemoth, folds back easily and just deactivates the keyboard. i use hands and the pencil most of the time, but when i have to type something, i just flip out the keyboard. dont really need a trackpad for composing mails or writing some notes in a meeting, for stuff that would need a trackpad i use a proper notebook. the onscreen keyboard takes away more than have of the display in landscape mode, so the folio is the best of all worlds for me.
Thank you for the video, definitely you explained it reasonably, but for me I got a refurbished Smart Folio keyboard for my iPad Pro 10.5 in 2019 and it was one of the best things i have ever bought! unfortunately for a some reason it got broken and i couldn’t get a new one, so I bought the Logitech one with the track pad for nearly the same price, the touch experience is great and the track pad too, but it is more heavier, thick and converted my slim iPad Into something thick, so I Stil prefer the iPad key board folio For being light, practical and the texture Of the keys!
I’m using it with a Magic Mouse and it’s a perfect replacement for my MacBook until I need Mac OS apps. Currently using MS office and reading pdfs/using the pencil. But gonna switch to MacBook when I need programming/etc
As a mechanical engineering student, the only use I could see with this case is if you don't want to carry your laptop up to the sixth floor to write your lab report for your physics lab and would rather use your iPad to type up the report and record your data using your iPad instead :p
If the goal is to replace your laptop so it can stay at home. It defeats the purpose of having a laptop. I am here bc I’m considering downgrading from the Magic Keyboard because it has defeated the purpose of owning it and a laptop.
truth is the old 1st generation keyboards for the 9.7 versions were way better. they provided 360 protection, were detachable and very light. The only downside of them were the horrific sound of the.keys. Problem that seem to be present also on this Folio. Here they wanted to go fully magnetic at all cost but the price to pay is very high. 0 protection: corners are not protected and if ipad falls chances are if will detach 0 versatility : you can’t detach it, if you fold it then you have the keys on your way. if you detach the ipad then you have a naked and fragile ipad on your hands. To me the logitech is the only way to go in 2022. it has everything; Ok it add weight but if you detach the keyboard, how much the rest can be heavy. Most of the weight is on the keyboard. I have ordered one for my new ipad pro 11”. looking forward receiving it. But for me there is no other option. the magic is super expensive for what it is and has 0 versatility. for that, then you’d rather get a laptop right away. The folio 0 versatility and 0 protection. The case without the keyboard is also no way since it gives 0 protection. And no way i will use my super expensive ipad pro with just my bare hands when not connected to those super expensive apple keyboards and cases.
I have both the logitech, the smart folio and also the magic keyboard. The issue with the logitech is that it's way too heavy in the part that protects the tablet, they didn't need to make it this heavy, it almost doubles the tablet weight (without the keyboard) and it's actually heavier than the smart folio keyboard even without the keyboard! And it's not something you can easily remote from the tablet either. Personally I get Apple care plus for peace of mind and enjoy the light weight of my tablet (and by the way I have never dropped an iPad, despite having Apple care plus). Also with the Apple solutions you can easily move from the light one to the magic one. And while I do preferred the old style smart keyboards, I am ok with folding the keyboard back, I don't mind the keys too much, especially as I can easily detach it if needed. By the way, the keyboard feel of the logitech, while better than the smart folio, is nowhere near the great feel of the magic keyboard (which also has a charging port). In my case it also helps that I bought both used, smart folio for $40 and magic keyboard for $100. I paid the full price for the logitech one instead at the Apple store...
Tha’s why I got a skin for my Smart Folio. $10 skin has kept it looking new over the past 6 months for me. I do agree on the typing experience. Far from perfect but not too bad once you get used to it.

I think if you want a keyboard, get a separate bluetooth keyboard. That way, you can get a foldable one since you like a bigger keyboard.
