Simple Editing using the DJI Fly App

- The DJI Fly App comes with a free video editor that makes it possible to quickly edit and deliver your drone footage. The “Create” feature of the DJI Fly app is perfect for the nonprofessional when posting to Social Media or Texting. This tutorial applies whether you’re using the RC Pro, the Original Smart Controller or the DJI Fly App on your mobile device.
In today’s Quick-Class we’ll start with some basic information and then jump right into a simple example, trimming down a single clip using a cut and a dissolve transition. In our second example, we'll show how to re-order clips; explore some features specific to images; add an Intro and Close and touch on some of the other items. We'll also demonstrate Templates which produce awesome productions with just a few clicks.

Hello Sir. I want to thank you for giving such in depth information about the DJI Mavic 3 and the RC Pro controller. I actually started with the Mavic Air a couple of years ago but became un-enthused after i crashed it, which was pilot error. So I recently got back into it and purchased the Mavic 3 and am awaiting for delivery. I didn't get the Fly more pack this time but did go for the RC Pro controller. Your channel will make the experience a little easier. Thanks from a new subscriber.

I can’t remember if you can install and use the UA-cam Studio app via our method of installing 3rd party apps ( ua-cam.com/video/a2AYMdwCpZY/v-deo.html ) or not. Worst case is you could probably use the browser and login to your account that way. Either way, you’ll probably need to save the file and upload it from the file system.
Hey guy's great information keep you the good work. I would like to see a tutorial on color correcting photo's in the dji fly app. I've searched UA-cam and there's little to none about color correcting photos only video. Thanks
What device are you running the fly app on? And I guess it would also be helpful what you will be doing with the images once color corrected? Social media? Texting? Just viewing on the device?
I'm running the Fly App on an iPad Pro 9.7. What I want to do is add the color corrected photos to a time line along with video. When I play the time line even with transitions everything flys by no pon intended. The issue is I can't slow the viewing of photos down to give the viewer time to take in the photo stills.
As for social media what usually do is to upload the finished video to Google Drive and share by sending a link and whoever has it can view the video and they have the option to download it. It works for me.

The color correction inside the Create feature of the Fly app is not very flexible. If you download the image to the iPad, color correct it there using the native photo app or a downloaded app (we use photoshop)... you can then bring the image into a Create video... or of course there are much better video editors you can use on the iPad.
To extend an image's length in the fly app "Create" program, i believe can change the duration of photos by tapping on them and using the handles. At 10:10 in the tutorial, we show this by extending the length of the title. Try it and please report back. Thank you.

Will this video be the same when using a cell phone Apple with editor on the Mavic 2 pro ..? Any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you Thomas
Mavic 2 uses the GO 4 app. It has a Create feature but somewhat different.
I haven’t tried. But you probably could use the Fly App Create editor too. Finding the files to Edit might be a challenge but doable.
Could you please tell me can you down load straight to a memory stick from the RC pro.

How are you able to download vids/photos from the drone to the controller? My RC controller shows the files but when I try to download them from the mini 3 pro to the RC it comes up with an error message that basically tells me to use the "quick transfer" to my phone. Please help, its driving me nuts. Can't find anything on the internet for this.
Okay, it was just a matter of a controller update. Problem fixed!
Why do you want them on the controller? Don’t you just want them on the computer or phone?
@@middleloopvideo Yes. But could not view the videos on the controller that I wanted to download to my phone's DJI app. I'm obviously just learning. Probably will end up later on doing it all in iMovie.
That's a little odd. The videos should automatically be cached on the controller... meaning, an HD version of the video will be stored... however, you may have that feature off. There is also a setting that controls how much memory can be used for the cache. Photos, are not automatically cached.
Can you edit using the RC from mini 3 pro?
We received a comment saying the DJI App didn’t match up regarding the Create feature. We don’t own that product so we aren’t able to verify and they didn’t elaborate on how it differs. Any info you can provide would be helpful.

I assume you’ve tried a really short clip just to troubleshoot? Give DJI support a try. I’ve had good experiences with them.
This app works with Mavic Air 2 Drone ??
Probably. This editor is a feature of the DJI Fly app which is compatible with the Mavic Air 2. We don’t have that drone to be to confirm it. But, we assume so.
