Hi Ian. Just watched this. Great explanation. I've changed my settings for Normal and Sport modes, however when I go to Cine mode..there is no EXPP settings ?
Hello, Ian. I've always complained about the controller to be too sensitive in terms of the control sticks until I watched your video. I didn't realise you can change these settings. Thank you very much for the tips. I will definitely apply them to my drone :)) Have a good one.
I generally don't film video in Sport mode so keep that super responsive to move to different locations for photography. Then Cine for smoothest video and Normal as a sort of Cine+
I figured it out. It was dusk..said low ambiem light. 1st mistake. 2nd mistake. Was wearing black shirt and black shorts. I found out it needs different colors to follow and see me. RED OR ORANGE shirt..
Why fox it if it ain’t broken…? I wish DJI would’ve sent me straight to this video… I’ve been going mad, but now I’m going flying instead…thank you so very much Ian 🙏🏻👍🍊
Excellent explanation of the new 'Gain & Expo Tuning' settings. I have just updated the older 'Fly App' after a long break from flying the DJI Mini 2 and was a bit confused with the new app settings. Thanks for posting the video, ...much appreciated...!👍
Thanks man, great, informative video! Was wondering how this is done, as my videos have been a bit jerky and bumpy gonna try em tomorrow and see how it goes!
You are by far my favorite "Go to" for advice. You keep it simple, don't talk a 100 miles an hour. Love ya' style . Thank you for all your tutorials on the Air 2S 🙏
👍 absolutely brilliant thanks to making this video I used your technique on Mavic Air 2 it absolutely helped.. Now I bought another Air 2s it was a bit different and didn’t expend much time to play with yet, but find your updated tutorial straight forward.. at the end Bonus point recap!! 🍻
Thx Ian. I believe they changed the naming to be more in line with proper terminology. Pitch is generally referred to aircraft/vessel rotation facing upwards/downwards, while Tilt is commonly the term used for a camera. Similar for Yaw. Aircraft and vessels normally yaw left and right (with a degree of Roll), while cameras Pan left and right.
Jim from Australia. Have bought that drone, but not flying yet. Great advice thnx. Question: once I adopt preferred settings, is "that it?" Or, do I have to go thru all that every time??
Thanks for all this info Ian ,I’ll be trying out these settings as soon as the weather gets better . Your clips are the best especially on the min2 😊 Regards Dave from Scotland Caa licenced aircraft engineer Light aircraft pilot and DJI mini 2 pilot
Really appreciate the explanations. Using the DJI FLY 1.9.5 app, that thé Ciné mode settings are the old version while the Normal and Sport mode have the version you just explained with the chart. Odd but it is what it is.
Brilliant update, as i only got my drone last week and could not find any videos on the new software update. many thanks for the video and explaining it so clearly, made a massive help to me as a newbie. i am deffo subscribing. Thanks a lot once again 👏😃
Extremely new to drones. Just bought the Air2s at Xmas. I've been watching tons of videos on this, and I'm astonished that you can't run the app and apply some settings unless the drone is on and active. That's a waste of precious battery time right there. I would also like to see packaged with a DJI purchase, a FREE flight simulator, so that you could sit and practise with before going live. Is it possible with the Air2s, to pre program a flight path. I believe some drones have that capability, but not sure about the Air2s.
Remember most settings you can set with the drone on but not actually flying. Sadly you can't do waypoints with the Air 2 S, but you can do preprogrammed hyperlapse flights. 👍🏻
I know you can do hyperlapse; and that they'd just brought in waypoints for the Mavic 3. Wasn't aware they'd brought in waypoints for the Air2S as well....
Can you also adjust the smoothness or speed at which the digital zoom will actually zoom in or out? I noticed that this too could use some smoothing out.
The video was so useful and educational that I had to pause, get out of full screen, and like it, so I wouldn’t forget and jump to the next suggestion before having done so… thanks a lot 👌🏻🙏🏻
Exactly what I was looking for! Just bought my first DJi and I watched your previous video and couldn't find the settings, realised it must be an updated thing, and just sorted it now, it's a pity DJi don't put the smoother settings as the default, but many thanks for what will certainly improve my videos. Cheers Mate!
Very helpfull video again, thanks for sharing 👍🏻.I was confused when they changed this part but now i understand much better. It’s been raining a lot the last few weeks so i did not fly much.As soon as it is dry i will get the mini 2 and air 2s in the air and finetune these settings. After the update and’ve noticed both drones were not flying as smooth as before in terms of gimbal movement and rotation.Weird that these settings have changed after the update.
Thank you so much. I just switched from the Mavic 2 Pro to the Mavic 3. Two different drones all together. I couldn't find a decent video helping me understand the settings until now. You've been a huge help. I subbed and look forward to more videos. PS - Sorry about the Mini 3!
Brilliant Ian thanks for sharing. I have a mini 2 also but it’s too fast when rotating left and right just wondering if I could get a copy of your settings for the controls in cine normal and sport . I’d like to be able to just push the left stick fully left or right and it’ll move slowly for a good movie clip ,thanks . Regards Dave from Scotland Caa licenced aircraft engineer and light aircraft /drone pilot
Thanks for this Ian, I hadn't been into these settings for a while and wasn't aware they'd changed the format. I'll have to go and check what they're set to as I suspect they'll be at default.
hi there a lot of drone flyers have poss never flown fixed wing thats where expo is used a lot it either softens or sharpen stick movments around the mid point happy flying
Thanks for this excellent guide video Ian. Changing my Air2S settings right now. Agree with @jaco_oosthuizen - give us cruise control, but not just for the Air, but also for the Mini-3.
Well explained thank you plus the all important part to actually see it in the air working as you make those changes. I am still trying to get my Mavic 3 Classic set up properly at the moment
They've changed things again; have a watch of this video; it uses the Mini 3 Pro but the new layout is the same.... ua-cam.com/video/JPiV4RFpCqU/v-deo.html
Cheers Ian, Such an easy to understand and well explained presentation on an issue that has been the bane of my life recently. I believe I can now set up my controller as I want it. 😊👍
Wow, good on you dude for getting this out. I haven't updated yet. Didn't even know about this change. And now I do. ☺️ Great job making it easy to understand per usual ... except the accent of course. 😂 Can barely understand a word your saying 😂 blimey mate🤟😂 sorry, couldn't help me self guv'nor. You the man💪😁
@@IaninLondon your a champion in my book🤝 love the accent. There would be a hoard of women following you around if you lived here in San Diego 😂 I'm serious. Your kind are a hot commodity in these parts...sound like I'm trying to pimp you out now😂 I'll stop here. 🙏
I have a mini 2 , and just ordered the air2s. It's fantastic to see you still use and do regular videos of air2s. I had a good look in the market and think this is the sweet spot for me . Decided 2 days ago to do a fair track A2 licence and passed today . Hooe royal mail bring it here in one peice...
I feel the 20%yaw rotation it is still too fast if you are doing cinematic footage is there any chance or way that's I can put it lower than 20% just like the mini 3 and mini 2
True; I thought so too in Cine mode, however if you increase the 'smoothness' value and also the EXP adjustment, you'll find a gentle stick movement (ie not full stick) will result in a very slow, gentle turn.
No Expo settings under any mode? DJi Mini 2, all these people on youtube telling you how to get a smooth flight, by using the gimble settings, yet they are not on my menu
Have the remote and drone on; tap three dots top right, then control, then Gain and Expo. It's under there. DJI changed the screen menus recently. Here's an updated video 👍🏻ua-cam.com/video/JPiV4RFpCqU/v-deo.html

Hi Ian. Just watched this. Great explanation. I've changed my settings for Normal and Sport modes, however when I go to Cine mode..there is no EXPP settings ?
I hope that DJI will include Cruise Control in a future firmware update for the Air 2S. That would put the Air 2S close to the top where it belongs.
Definitely....
For sure. It's my go to flyer these days. I own 3 DJI drones and an autel x star. I've been waiting and hoping for cruise control.
Use a rubber band for cruise control, 👍.
Hello, Ian. I've always complained about the controller to be too sensitive in terms of the control sticks until I watched your video. I didn't realise you can change these settings. Thank you very much for the tips. I will definitely apply them to my drone :)) Have a good one.
Ian. Just THANK YOU for your time and explanations. Probably the best out there on UA-cam.
🙏👍🏻👍🏻
I still think the Air 2s is one of the best drones DJI make
Another cracking tutorial matey. This will help many pilots out.
I generally don't film video in Sport mode so keep that super responsive to move to different locations for photography. Then Cine for smoothest video and Normal as a sort of Cine+
Outstanding. This was easy to take all in. Thanks for the video.

Nicely explained..I will change these for sure... Greetings from Okinawa Japan
Thanks for the Epic video, Mate! - I was pulling my hair out wondering why DJi changed these - Everything is back to normal now.
Fantastic video thanks pal 😊

That’s it just make sure it’s on your preferred one cine normal or sport 👍👍
My dji air2s cine expo settings stay at 0.25. When I try to change them it changes to NaN.
A bit of topic Ian. You not going to Hawaii?
Enjoyed the post

@Ian in London actually you can do waypoints with the Air2s. It has to be in the air obviously but I have done it...

No, although using the right fly wheel on some models is a smoother zoom

A word for what the yaw smoothness control is doing is called "easing."
Thanks Ian - I wasn't aware of the change until now. This helped save me a lot of time.

Do you have an M3 w/RC Pro updated video covering the new Gain & Expo settings?
