I've had my mini 3 Pro for around a year and never edited a video, I delete most of them because I always make some mistake during the flight which makes for poor viewing. I watched your video last night and this afternoon I done my first edit, it was quite easy to follow your instructions, thanks very much my drone will now be getting much more use and I never even thought of using my phone camera along with the drone footage. Please make more of these. 👏
Hey, I’m actually going to Italy to videotape my childhood home and town with my mini three pro. Do you have any recommendations for me? I already researched the Italian law and already registered my drone with d flight
As an ‘older’ dude, who just likes ‘FLYIN’ DRONES for fun out here’, I can’t even put into words the VALUE OF YOUR VIDEO Russ! I mean I’ve OFTEN wondered how vids were made..EDITED, ETC. But you have taken the time to show everyone what’s required, what’s AVAILABLE FOR USE..THAT’S FREE.?! This shows why you AND your channel are head ‘n shoulders ABOVE the others! Thanks brother..great job!
I'm also an old drone dude .... I've got a lot of footage and deleted a wack more ... Trying to get footage off the goggles / or drone is a long winded process let alone editing. ... Thx for the great clip ... Gonna give it a whirl.🇿🇦
Great points! You made an excellent point that aerial footage needs to be mixed in with other clips to generate a story. I need to be more mindful of creating stories. Thanks for your video! 😊
This was a absolutely wonderful tutorial video for those of us who are just getting into drone hobbies and thinking of doing content your explanation and the demonstrations that you gave make it a lot less intimidating for us New beginners I would sincerely appreciate more tutorials from you you're extremely informative and well spoken on this topic
I love this video on drone footage and also the ground clips as well. But most importantly on how to edit your images and video. This is very important and would like to see more of this content.
Well thank you. I have flown drones for years and never been able to compile a video worth watching because of the editing. Your the first one to go through slow enough for people to follow exactly what's happening. Keep doing what your doing and again thank you !
I use Adobe Premire Pro for editing and as someone who video edits all the time, my advice would be: Start off with the basics first. As you gain more experience, advance editing comes later. Play around with editing to get a feel for it. Editing is time-consuming, but if you put in the time and effort, it pays off in the end.
I had lost interest in flying my drone. Was very frustrated on how to edit my videos. Felt like I had to do everything perfect in one take. This information on how simple it is to use this free editor has awakened my enthusiasm and renewed my enthusiasm. Russ thank you for doing this and look forward to seeing deeper dives you do in future UA-cam posts.
Great video, thank you. I just got my 1st drone and have some pretty ok footage. I've never done editing, but I'm looking forward to downloading capcut and to start editing.
Probably one of the best video editing tutorials I have watched. Yes, it was fast and basic, but it hit all the high points and was very easy to follow.
Russ, you did a great job on this..Very Intuitive and seems simple enough for any beginner. CapCut being free is great for anyone trying their hand at editing and i'm shocked at how big the program is. This was long overdue. Well Done Sir.
You nailed it, Russ. Thank you for this. Very important info for people who need a starting place for editing drone footage. Been looking for something like this for a while.
MAN ! What a video ! This is the most educational video I have ever watched ! You just taught me how to edit ! I just recently got interested in video editing but have been intimidated somewhat. Not now. Thank you so much. I'm 71 yrs old and i am getting Capcut right now.
I’m a newer subscriber as I stumbled onto your channel via the DJI regulation video you were talking about and I don’t even own a drone yet, but was thinking about buying one. However, on the topic of value from a video to your viewers, this video alone is immensely valuable in showing not telling, but showing your viewers a tutorial of the software and how to put together editing a video. That is immensely valuable for your drone viewers with video footage and just a starter even in just taking your time with some patience in showing people how to edit a video. That’s real value to not just me, but to everyone your viewers that has never edited their drone video and a video period! And I say Thank You! I even saved it for future referencing as a editing tutorial in my UA-cam folder.
You are so correct that drone footage is really just part of the story when it comes to editing 😊 that being said it is important for people to research the type of drone they want buy for their storytelling purposes.
Yes, yes, yes... keep 'em coming! Russ, you're absolutely right! Lots of footage stored that noone gets to enjoy because I've not taken the time to master my video editing skills. Thanks so much for taking the time to put this vlog together.
I've been looking all over the internet for a simplified, easy to follow editing video, and once again, you crushed it. Thank you from a new FAA 107 pilot.
This is honestly the most game changing video I have come across in my new drone hobby. I had loads of sub par video footage which was just deleted even though there were good bits in them. Took my dog and drone to the beach today, downloaded Capcut and within an hour had a wonderful little 3 minute video of our morning walk! Thanks for the awesome beginners walkthough of the software!
Yes, I am new and need your editing tutorials. Like many others here that commented, I have a DJI mini 3 pro and a phone gimbal. I will probably watch this video five times. Thanks Russ ! 😃
Thank you for addressing the Elephant in the Room. I think we would really like to see more of these and hopefully start to finally learn editing from you in the same way you guided us through drone purchases, drone regulations, and flying techniques. Keep 'em comin!
Please continue to make these types of videos. You make it very easy to understand. Thank you!! I've taken repair videos for a piece of lighting equipment many years ago and just posted a clip because I could not figure how to edit all the steps I shot. Over the years I've had so many people request a better, full length video, but ended up sending them raw files on a flash drive because I could not edit. I think I can attempt that project now.
Kinda like driving a car, your instructions translate across other video editors. I STARTED with Windows editor farther back than I care to remember. I have DaVinci Resolve now. I have been a Nikon photographer since 1977, and am a Johnny-come-lately to video editing...SUPER COOL!
Thank you, thank you, thank you. This was absolutely perfect. I have hours of video sitting on memory chips waiting on me to edit. This program looks basic enough but your Final Cut looks just so professional. I appreciate you putting this informative video together.
Well done. I have so much footage just sitting on my computers and SD cards that I never share. Most of the video editors are quite complicated, so I eventually get bored trying to edit them. This looks really simple. Thanks for doing it, I’m going to give this a try.
Most of my relatives are from the tiny town or Powers Lake which they founded in the late 1800’s after emigrating from Norway. Thanks for the neat video and superb narration overdub!
just recently purchased a Mini 2 and struggled to get on with wondershare and imovie. But after watching your video on using CapCut im now excited to editing my drone footage. Many thanks for the tutorial and will keep you posted on how I get on. Great video, Dean from Dover, England. UK
I'm a complete newbie to editing and am one of those people who you were speaking about, I have videos on my computer that are just sitting there. Excellent video! Thanks!
I am a brand new drone pilot and this video was a great insight into video editing. As a total newb, it would be very helpful to learn how to import the video to your computer from your iPhone and drone. Thanks for what you're doing!
Back Again, Russ. Just edited 3 video clips from my Air 2s on CapCut toggling back and forth between your tutorial video and the 3 clips I was in the process of editing. Very easy to edit the video clips along with your instruction. You are right, CapCut is amazing and free to boot! Thanks again. Semper Fly, Dave in Morro Bay.
I found you when i got my Mini 1 & have followed you advice getting Mini 2 then Air 2 S. This short video has answered the next journey in my enjoyment. Thankyou
Oh man, thank you! As someone new to this the software choices and tech levels out there were daunting. This program was great to get me going. Please do more
Russ..... First of all, thanks for taking the time to show us drone video editing noobs capcut as well as walking us through step by step. Kudos to you for sharing your knowledge with all of us who are interested in video editing here on UA-cam. 50 year progression from color, B&W film, digital age and DJI drone enthusiast since 2013 when DJI first introduced their Phantom 1. Have some fantastic drone images over the years but I need to branch more into drone video, editing and production. Your tutelage helps a lot!! Thank you. Drone pilot for my local police department, 107 qualed and M-30T owner. I have a secure photography website which contains 400+ images with approximately 1/4 being drone images. Willing to share so if you'd like to see my drone image perspectives, reply back and I'll share the link (and all those who are interested as well) Keep your UA-cam videos coming Russ, they are some of the best! I'm a subscriber. Semper Fly, Dave in Morro Bay.
@@SheDrones Hi RoseAnn. Been flying DJI Drones here in Morro Bay since they first came out in 2013 with the Phantom 1 which I still have. Morro Bay State Parks adopted a "no fly drone operation" within State Park boundaries in September 2018. That rule applies to operating a drone within Morro Bay State Park boundaries. However, State Parks does not control airspace, FAA does. So, according to their rules on drones there is a technicality that if you are operating a drone OUTSIDE Morro Bay State Park boundaries and fly your drone over Morro Bay State Park boundaries, you are not breaking any rules State Park rules. I am MBPD's drone pilot and have assisted State Park Rangers searching for subjects and looking for homeless encampments in the sand dunes on State Park property. I know of a couple of rangers who are aware of this "loop hole". Morro Rock is listed as a Natural Preserve and is included as part of Morro Bay State Park. Best advise I can give you is to get a Morro Bay State Park Map which shows all their property boundaries. I've had a "friendly" debate with the Morro Bay State Park Superintendent who said that airspace over Morro Rock extends up to and includes 2000 feet and you can't fly. From what I've researched, that 2000 foot rule applies to Wilderness areas in Ca. I'm aware of that wilderness rule nationally as I'm a retired Marine and Navy helo pilot. Another "gotcha" Mr. State Park Superintendent, there is no set limits on lateral flight restrictions of a Natural Preserve, which Morro Rock is and you don't fly over it. Hopefully your drone camera has zoom capabilities. Long answer!
@@30yearvet.48 thank you for a great reply . I was just doing that ( checking map boundaries) on my last visit. I am a community college drone instructor here in SD and understand all your info . Chula Vista and Beverly Hills PD I know employ Flying Lions for drone program . Love hearing the first responders using drones. Will hit u up on my next trip to mb
Just got my Mini 3 Pro last week and my big question was how to edit video. Russ, you hit the nail on the head! Just what I was looking for. Have followed you for a long time and because of your reviews on the Mini 3 Pro I couldn't be more happy with it. I must have missed this video but glad you did it. Would love to see more on CapCut in the future. Keep up the great work!!!
Thanks so much Russ for sharing this video, now I think I can start editing my drone videos since you made such an easy to understand video tutorial,God bless you 🙏🏽
Hello neighbor, fellow Orange Countian here. I just checked out your two YT videos. Your flight to the Port of LA was fantastic. Excellent capture on the container ship coming into the terminal.
As a newbie to video I have been reluctant to get into the editting part of it because of the array of products available and the complexity of them. So I for one would like to see more tutorials of this CapCut software. Thanks a lot for your efforts.
Thank you as always. I think I have watched all your tutorials. I appreciate that you are able to enunciate so clearly for us with difficulty hearing. This one was fast but that was nice to get the overview !
Editing video is just like anything else that takes time and effort to learn. It's a process and easy to give up too early. Once you get it figured out, though, it can be just as fun as shooting the video and flying the drone. When I figure out a cool way to put the footage together and it's flowing it's a ton of fun.
Thank you for this video. I am very new to flying my DJI mini 3 Pro drone and I really needed to learn how to use a video editor your video has helped me out very much!!! so thank you so much for that. I personally would love more in depth videos on Capcut and how to use all its functions. Thanks again for all you do it is much appreciated
That was a great tutorial, thank you for sharing your experience with us! I have used another video editor but after seeing CapCut I’m going to give it a try. A future video suggestion would be one on color grading and applying the LUTs. Thanks again!
Absolutely love this video. Wanted to do videos and didn't even know where to start. I am 64 not really computer savvy. You have taught me a lot in just this video. Thank you. Yes would love to learn more
You got one more subscriber today! I'm in Toronto, Canada and this video will help me a lot with editing my videos. We have so much amazing scenery around here. I got my TC Advanced license last August. Thanks and please show more content on editing and tips for CapCut.
@51drones Thank you so much for this video! I have struggled over the last year trying to find a software that can yield great video, yet is simple enough that even I can navigate. It's actually been a obstacle to going out to capture video because of the lack of editing skills I have. I have intermediate skills with photo editing software of many kinds, but video has been very lacking. Your recommendation and the tutorial here was a real gift in perfect time. My son spends thousands of dollars for July 4th fireworks and entertainment and my video never gets close to the finish product I have had with photos. But now, I followed you along, downloaded CapCut and was able to build a great video that those attended really liked. I am now rejuvenated and ready to shoot more video with the DJI Mini 3 Pro and my Samsung S23 Ultra. Between the two of them and this great software (and your tutelage) I should be able to start working on improving my skills again. It beats wondering around aimlessly!! Thank you again from Dennis in Omaha, NE. PS: Keep up the great work!!
Russ...I'm a drone guy and this video was SO HELPFUL...thanks very much for producing it! Heading to the App Store now to download the desktop version!
Man, I am so embarrassed. You described me and my short comings in your video. From only using drone footage (which isn't the best content), to leaving it on the computer and card 😮💨. But this information is probably the most informative that I have seen since getting into drone flying some three years ago (yes, three years and still haven't gotten it together). This is a game changer for me. And CapCut seems almost fool proof. I own a Mavic 3 but got bored with it because I felt limited. This has actually inspired me to get this bird in the air and have some fun. Thank you. And, I am going to get the phone gimbal that you recommended so I hope you get a breakdown from the company for that and would like to see further vids on the CapCut program. Thumbs up, newly subscriber and getting a T-shirt! 🤩
Almost a Capcut master at this point. Downloaded both phone and desktop versions from your earlier videos and recommendations of it. Maybe you could do a video on approaching people and businesses to advertise yourself. Like maybe more of a deep dive on what to say and how to carry oneself? Thanks Russ!
This is my second comment on this video. So helpful Russ. You are an excellent instructor - both on the ground and with your aerial footage tutorials. Perhaps an update to this one going a few steps further. e.g. How to do a voiceover, (equipment, how it connects to laptop/PC, etc.) how to take footage and speed it up throughout parts of the video clip, (I forget what that technique is called) and how to fade in/out of video. Thank you for what you do. It does not go unnoticed. You're simply the best IMO. Cheers from San Antonio Texas. Mark & Dawne.
Thanks so much for this video. I have been looking for an easy way to edit my videos and I believe this is going to be the way for me. Would enjoy seeing some more videos of you using this program. Thanks again.
Hi, I stumbled over your seriously BRILLIANT vids a few wks ago, I’m completely NEW to this hobby and you have truly been an INSPIRATION . Thank you. I’m located in UK in a small location called Plymouth.
Thank you so much for this video - i just bought a drone and had quickly realized editing was a huge task i hadn't even considered - also the number of software's available is mind blowing! I had decided on Filmora (because i realized i had bought it a few years ago for use with a go pro but had barely ever attempted to use it) so as I have it I might as well go that way. Everything in your video was helpful and although the editing software is different it helped me get started with Filmora and managing my files etc. Thanks again.
Just got a DJI mini 2 se best birthday present ever 🎉 my wife done very well so I have bin watching your videos and they have bin so helpful thanks a lot I think I’m hooked on the whole drone thing now for sure !
Thanks for the video. I think this program does what I need. I'm a complete beginner in video. Have several years with PS and LRC, but no video. I feel Premier Pro a bit much for me now, so I just downloaded CapCut from your link. Thanks
Thank you. I have tried other "free" editing programs but I really like this one. I would very much be interested in more videos on using it. I have already made 2 simple videos from files I have from my Mini 3 Pro and put them on UA-cam.
Just want to thank you for this incredibly detailed video! I have a mavic air 2s and have been wanting to make videos for the longest time but was always unsure of how to make decent review/interest videos. I'm still learning about using lavalier mics and phone gimbals so any inputs or tutorials you could steer me towards would be greatly appreciated. Once again thanks for taking the time to create such an awesome how-to video.
Thanks so much, I’m going to try it today. I have only used iMovie so far, it’s adequate but not great. I’d love to see some more tutorials on all the features.
Really good video Russ. I have been searching for a video on editing from start to finish and this is a perfect start. I have a GoPro and a Mini 3, and have been wanting to learn video editing and building a story of our travels. Thanks!!!
I have had my mini 2 for over a year & have never edited any of the video. The only thing I have done is transfer it to a thumb drive to watch it on a TV. I definitely found this video very informative & will probably be trying out CapCut soon. Thank you & I hope to see more editing videos in the near future.
Just tried out CapCut with some footage that I had downloaded already. It was a fairly easy process...Thanks for the tips! Now my future footage may have more of a purpose when I get the drone out & will incorporate other footage from our DJI Osmo action 3 & phones as well.
Russ, you did an awesome job. Getting the video through the editing process is difficult at best. With what you showed us in cap cut it looks manageable. Please please please do other videos going more in depth with cap cut. Thanks in advance.
Really appreciated this video, thank you for posting it. I have been using iMovie to create my edited posts and have decided to switch, thanks to your video. Composition advice was also first class. I will fly more now I know I can master post-production using another app.
Thank you for this video. I been flying for the last 9 years and definitely hate this part since it seems so technical in Premiere Pro plus it takes so long to do and remember between my next flights. Please dive deeper into this and make another video. TY TY TY!
As a newbee this was a great start to alleviate my worry about editing. It actually looks much easier than I expected. I'd like to see more of how you use this software in conjunction with your new dji Air 3. 🤓
I just started watching your videos a few days ago and this on in particular video hopefully will change my channel for the better, I have tried to edit a few times but failed. Thanks so much and please do more of these editing videos.
Thanks for doing this. So true, most people are totally intimidated about everything. I love watching videos and bought a GoPro11, Mini3Pro, Air2S, gobs of SD all sorts of stuff, and it all just sits there, doing nothing.
Amazing. Just what I needed. Got my first drone 10 days ago. Did not know what to use for editing vidoes, tried a few.. This app do all I need easy. Thanks. I would like if You do a deeper dive in the future.
I've had my mini 3 Pro for around a year and never edited a video, I delete most of them because I always make some mistake during the flight which makes for poor viewing.

That makes me so happy! This is why I do this!
Another idea is to use the drone as a handheld camera, that way you get the benefit of a gimbal without any other equipment
@nk-dw2hm that is a cracking idea, thanks 😊

Great video! You've got me excited about editing again. I'd love to see more videos from you about CapCut.
Editing video is just like anything else that takes time and effort to learn. It's a process and easy to give up too early. Once you get it figured out, though, it can be just as fun as shooting the video and flying the drone. When I figure out a cool way to put the footage together and it's flowing it's a ton of fun.
I’m looking to get my first drone and your videos are so helpful. And now that I found this video. I look forward to making my own videos. Thanks!
Thank you for this video. I am very new to flying my DJI mini 3 Pro drone and I really needed to learn how to use a video editor
your video has helped me out very much!!! so thank you so much for that. I personally would love more in depth videos on Capcut and how to use all its functions.
Thanks again for all you do it is much appreciated
The only thing better than the CapCut software is your demonstration of how to use it! Best Drone stuff on UA-cam!
That was a great tutorial, thank you for sharing your experience with us! I have used another video editor but after seeing CapCut I’m going to give it a try. A future video suggestion would be one on color grading and applying the LUTs. Thanks again!
thank you for this really awesome introduction . Just enough to get started , not so much it makes you dizzy .
This software actually worked for me. Yes, please show more content on using this program. My first time at editing.
Great video, Russ, as always. I would definitely like to see some more of these editing video skills.
Thank you so much.
More to come!
Absolutely love this video. Wanted to do videos and didn't even know where to start. I am 64 not really computer savvy. You have taught me a lot in just this video. Thank you. Yes would love to learn more
I'm planning on editing my videos, but until now I had no idea how to. Your tutorial is great! Very useful. Many thanks!
I've just recently found Capcut. Your tutorial for me was brilliant. I've saved to watch a few more times. Thanks
You got one more subscriber today! I'm in Toronto, Canada and this video will help me a lot with editing my videos. We have so much amazing scenery around here.
I got my TC Advanced license last August.
Thanks and please show more content on editing and tips for CapCut.
Thanks for the inspirational and informative drone info! 🤩
This is simply amazing. I felt like u were speaking to me directly. More of these pls. U just gained a new subscriber
Thank you. You described me 100%. I will be following everything you have done. Thanks again.
Russ...I'm a drone guy and this video was SO HELPFUL...thanks very much for producing it! Heading to the App Store now to download the desktop version!
Wow! Thanks for the tip. That looks fairly easy to use.
I would like to see more regarding editing and the use of CapCut. Thanks
More, More, More!!!! Keep it coming Russ, esp. on the video editing. Need more pls!
I’m so impressed by the ease of Capcut…wow! Please please make more instructional videos on it !! Thank you!
Thanks, very handy guide. I’m the type that feels I need to spend to get results and this proves it isn’t the case. Capcut is sooo good!
That's a great video of basic editing for beginners, people like me will find this very informative. Thanks for sharing very much appreciated.
Thanks for sharing the best video, can't wait to see more. God blessed!
Thank you, I have tried numerous editing videos. This looks great.
This is so helpful please do more videos I will definitely use this information from now on many thanks, keep up the great work.
Thanks so much for this video. I have been looking for an easy way to edit my videos and I believe this is going to be the way for me. Would enjoy seeing some more videos of you using this program. Thanks again.
Hi,
I stumbled over your seriously BRILLIANT vids a few wks ago, I’m completely NEW to this hobby and you have truly been an INSPIRATION .
I got more out of this video on editing than I have asking questions and watching other videos. Would like to see more of this, thank you.
WOW!!! You are THE man! Thank you so much for sharing such "great" information.
Just got a DJI mini 2 se best birthday present ever 🎉 my wife done very well so I have bin watching your videos and they have bin so helpful thanks a lot I think I’m hooked on the whole drone thing now for sure !
Russ,
Great find on this one. Very informative with just what we need to know.
Thanks Russ. Enjoyed. Would love more. Always enjoy your work.
it was a nice idea to show how to do that edit, I would be happy to see more of it. hi from Aalborg and thanks for all.
Well , thank you . I already downloaded it and start learning !
I just started watching your videos a few days ago and this on in particular video hopefully will change my channel for the better, I have tried to edit a few times but failed. Thanks so much and please do more of these editing videos.
Great tut. Try shooting landscape to create a wide-shot video. Total game changer.
Thanks for doing this. So true, most people are totally intimidated about everything. I love watching videos and bought a GoPro11, Mini3Pro, Air2S, gobs of SD all sorts of stuff, and it all just sits there, doing nothing.
Wow Russ!!!! Great video man! This will definitely help people! I know it will help me! Thank you sir!
Great video! Thanks for the tutorial! Please do more of these!!!!
I would really enjoy more tutorials on this. You are good at explaining things.
This video is very helpful. I’ve been struggling to edit my drone videos. Super helpful!!!! Thanks!!!
Amazing. Just what I needed. Got my first drone 10 days ago. Did not know what to use for editing vidoes, tried a few.. This app do all I need easy. Thanks. I would like if You do a deeper dive in the future.
