😍😍😍 One of the best videos about traveling, especially alone that I've ever watched. 👍👍👍
T L that is so wonderful to hear!! Are you planning a solo trip anytime soon?
When you arrive buy a local reusable bag and carry your water and maps. It makes you look like a local going shopping.
Sarah Riedel this is honestly the best advice
I just found a cheap ticket to Barcelona .... I think I’m just gonna book it and go, I don’t have time to worry about all of my friends to figure out their lives LOL I love solo travel
Gabs Bissessar did you book your flight :) how was it or do u still need to go? Planning the same but for S.E.Asia
What happened?
Please share how did you get, i am also planning to visit Barcelona
I would say research as much as you can about the place you are traveling to - and by this, I don't mean researching accommodations and activities, but I mean the place and its people - read ethnographies about the culture, blogs run by people form that place, learn about its history, customs, language (as you said), etc. This will help boost your confidence in just being there, make you a more responsible traveler, and also enhance your experience significantly - you'll understand the cultural context so much better, you'll be more likely to make friends with local people, and you'll just get so much more out of traveling.
I totally agree! It's important to respect their culture, and know more about it so you feel like you fit in :)
Where did you begin your research?
I'm solo in Budapest right now and it feels awesome! Another hack is to know the currency conversions and have it written down or on your phone so you can get a sense of the cost of things and budget your travel. Great video!
I personaly take the "embrace being alone" too seriously. I mean, I'm not a people person, I just really LOVE being alone. When I travel I don't speak to anyone (ever) unless I absolute have to. Maybe it's weird or sad but that's me, I'm fine with it I don't enjoy my trip any less :)
Yasmine M I feel the same way!! Thats a reason I don't like hostels, while I like that they are cheap, I don't need to meet people, that's actually a minus for me. If I'm gonna make friends, I rather they be locals.
Yasmine M same here..
I don't think thats weird. I am pretty much the same actually :)
I’m the exact same way.
Wear a fake wedding ring. Now that's the tip I haven't heard yet! xD
Loved this video!
definitely taking these tips to heart while planning my next trip! thanks kristen!
That’s a really incredible bunch Kirsten, thanks for sharing! 💕
Subtitles/Closed Captions have been added to this video.
People pack light! You don't need a huge camping backpack to travel and it screams "I'm a foreigner!". Plus, there are laundry services in hostels. Really, there's no need to bring something bigger than 40L.
Francisco Fuentes are there really laundry services in hostels?
I've actually tried to plan several times a solo trip, but Ive been lucky enough to have friends that join me last minute. But I've explored places by myself too. Its important to note that these really good tips/hacks from you video can be used even when traveling with other people and you want to do something a little different. Exploring things on your own can be REALLY fun!
Agreed. These tips can be used for any type of traveler. Exploring on your own is amazing. Even if you have people who will travel with you, it's nice to do it on your own sometimes.
This is what I needed before my first solo (euro) trip. I've never left my country for more than two days and now it will be 10 days and alone. Can't wait for tomorrow!
Love Love Love this video!!
I did not get these many tips from all videos combined!!
Thank you soo much!!

Thank you so much for this video Kristen. I'm about to embark on a series of solo travels locally in South Africa. These tips will come in handy. Thank you
Learnt a lot with these great tips. I'm considering travelling alone.
Greetings from South Africa 🇿🇦
Friday is my first solo trip and i have been so nervous but this really has made me feel excited!!!
Great tips! I agree with all of them. Especially the one about how everyone should solo travel. I always get people saying I am inconsiderate of my family and friends because they worry about me the whole time...
That's not inconsiderate, its you being a strong independent and adventurous woman. They just love you and want to make sure you're okay. I alway say go for it! Just use common sense and check in with your family when you're away.
I did all these tips while travelling in Portugal! fantastic advice!!
I'm heading out on my first ever solo holiday next month and this put my mind at ease 100% cheers! Xx
I absolutely loved this video. So happy and straight forward! I’m an avid solo traveler so I knew a lot of these but learned a few tips 💖

Thank you! Going solo backpacking the Australian East Coast in three weeks and this was so helpful to me. :)
Going on my first solo trip through Southeast Asia for 2.5 months this summer! Going to be filming every ounce of it too. im soooooooo stoked
I loved this so much!!!
I traveled by myself to Japan after a getting out of a long term relationship and it was the best thing I'd ever done. I've done a few domestic trips on my own since then and I'm hoping to do another overseas one soon! Xx
Thanks for this very informative video

The SIM card advice is one of the best. It helped me so much when I went to Iceland and it was super affordable.
Girl, I LOVE these tips! Pascaline is getting ready to do her first solo trip, and my mama's heart is beating crazy fast. But the world has been her classroom since she was little, so I know she'll be okay. But I'm going to have her watch your video. Thank you! And thank you for your video course in Nomadic Matt's courses. Brian and I have taken lots of things and put them in to our videos. xoxo
Great tips on how to travel solo, I'll definitely be doing some of these for our trip in may for our channel. Thanks!

Thank you so much for this Iam planning on backpacking solo to europe , this was extremely helpful .
Just stumbled upon your channel and I absolutely adore it! You are so inspiring!
I travel all the time, solo and with people and just booked my first „blind vacation“ - so excited!
Yay! Welcome to the tribe. I'm so happy to have you here. Tell me more about this blind vacation! I keep hearing about these and I want to do one. Is it with a certain company?
I booked mine through a website called wowtrip and you basically choose an airport where you wanna leave from and a date. You can exclude some destinations (if you don’t want to go there or already have been there) and choose a time frame for the flights - both with a little fee. I choose 3 nights/4 days and paid very little money for that. The price includes the flights and a 3 or 4 stars accommodation. 48h before your flight you get information about the weather at your „surprise“ destination to know what to pack. And then you go to the airport at that day you picked and see where you’re flying!
I think that’s a really cool way to travel and check out destinations you might not have thought about yet.
I think wowtrip is doing this just in Europe, but I am sure there are other companies like that all over the world! You should definitely try it sometime!
Lots of love ❤️
😍
Cannot agree with you more!!! Solo travel is amazing. It is my preference always :)
I really like the fact you included safety! extremely important! 😇
Great tips
Thanks a lot!
I leave to solo travel the world on the 13th of June and these tips have been great, thank you 🌍😁
Thank you!
One thing I don't do enough when I travel alone is let my family know where I'm going that day. I definitely should be doing this more.
It seems annoying to message them every day, sometimes multiple times a day, but it doesn't need to be that. It's as easy as posting a quick Facebook update and tagging the location.
Much less annoying and you get the added benefit of bragging to your Facebook friends about your amazing trip 😂
very helpful self help video.
thanks for the adviceeeees
would visit Lombok, Bali, Nusa penida, Gilis soon.
and its solooooooo
so exciteed
Cool I'm going solo to Europe in 3 weeks. Your clip is very encouraging and I'm getting super hyped now 😂👍🏽
I'm so glad! Any questions you have, I'd be happy to answer them so fire them my way! - kristen
Obrigada!
Nice video...Going for my first solo trip in next two days....
Simple direct and useful 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 no gimmick good job
Glad you enjoyed this one Kevin. Thanks so much.
Some good advice and totally agree that travelling alone can be fab. Just saying that destination matters a lot for some of your advice. For example, if you are walking around your home town at night, there's no reason you can't do this in a comparable city. Maybe don't do it drunk at 3am, but going for a theater show or a late dinner, etc. is totally fine. It then helps if you picked accomodation close to transport links rather than down three back-alleys. Personally, I disagree on Uber as taxies tend to be better regulated in most countries. If you are travelling in a Country with a tendency for taxi scams, you should ask the Hotel for advice or have a look at the Lonely Planet (which I agree is super helpful for travelling alone, especially in more far flung places).
I really need to get started on solo travel. I end up going with the flow a lot with my friends travel plans, but I would love to just do strictly what I want.
Thank you so much! I really want to travel solo, but my grown kids get really upset if I mention it. In their defense, I do have a rare autoimmune disease, and have been very ill at times. But after a radical diet change, and 70 pound weight loss, Im ready for short trips at least. These tips were very helpful 😁
Sierra Brown
Get the highest level travel health insurance. They pay to fly family to you in hospital overseas.
That's amazing to hear how much has changed for you. I'm glad you're feeling better and ready to conquer the world. You got this!
I have an autoimmune disease , been traveling solo for a few years. Just be prepared and pay attention to ur body. Trust ur gut and just go
Amazing video.. actually super helpful.
And being an Indian i can totally agree with your 2 examples! I really salute women who travel solo to India.
These are great tips. I definitely try and choose hostels that I think I will meet a lot of people at ! And some of the people I met on pub or food crawls I ended up being really good friends with!
I like asking 3 local people the same questions. Thanks for sharing!
Great tips ! Cannot wait to use them in my next trip this summer ! 😍
Have fune
Where are you going?
There's something about solo travelling that has always attracted me
Just found your channel by chance. You're very sympathetic!
I was travelling through Cambodia on my own and I used nearly all of your hacks! :-D
Amazing, you remind me of Goldie Hawn 👍🏼😍
Great video. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it. First time I've gotten Goldie Hawn haha
Thank you it was an amazing video. I am a girl from India planning to do a solo trip. In India solo travelers especially girls are rare. Thank you for your advice. It really means alot.
Great tips! Wish I saw some of them like 3 month ago before I started travelling😀
Hopefully they help you with your next trip. You got anything planned?
This is what I needed for my trip soon. I’m excited!!!Thanks for the hacks👍
Where you going?
Kristen Sarah I’m going to the Philippines, Thailand, and Cambodia.
No kristen, no one is as cool as you! You're so cool that I bet you have never had a fever in your entire life! :)
You my friend are even cooler. I don't know anyone else who knows as many jokes as you do...like for real. Keep being awesome!
Going on a 6 month long solo trip to Asia, starting this February! :D
SOLO TRAVEL FOR THE WINNN:) Lol thanks! Subscribed:)
I've been thinking about travelling solo for a long time. Surely it takes a lot of courage, but it seems to be worth it.
i was not but now i will be planning in this year haha
thanks for all the hackss :D
I think the best would be to connect with bloggers who are physically there and get more information from them. Research as much as you can about the place you are traveling to. Plan your budget. Take book, phone. Get map of the place or download app for this. Do some advance planning and organize properly, that will keeps you safe so you can enjoy your trip.
Solo travel is 🙏🏽💞
Thanks
Awesome
ok second video. subbing now. i like u. looks like i'mma be traveling alone a lot since everybody i know is confined by life.
Solo travel is awesome and you'll meet great people during your travels so you're never really alone unless you really want to be
Those are such good tips! I can really recommend for everyone travelling alone to bring a portable battery charger. I got lost last summer in the middle of Scotland and my phone died, believe me, the first thing I did the next day was buy one
Traveling solo for the first time in 12 days !!! I’ll be in Greece I can not wait event though I’m quite worry!
I did a lot of Solo travelling when I was younger. Can you believe that I have never stayed in an hostel? I don't know why, but I still manage other travellers and make freinds
Travel With Mansoureh can i ask where you stayed then? Just in hotels and b+b’s?
nice video, though i'm not a beginner, still was interesting!
hey there, thank you so much for the informations they're all so amazing and embraced me to safe my money for my solo travel trip in the future. i dunno how to start this question but i just wanna know about how to keep our bag safe from other backpackers even we sleep in a hostel. imma bit sceptical about this tho regarding to maybe it's gonna be my first time as well. never been outside of my country anyway and wish I'll be there in one of my list to visit in the near future. thanks❤️
Hey thanks for all the tips, really helpful! I'm planning my first solo trip in NYC for 10 days. Do you think it's a good destination for a female first-timer?
