This outro would be on the screen of our black and white '60 Admiral portable TV in our den when I came home from school at this time. It was one of the few moments my mother would take a break from housework. Thinking of my '70's childhood compared to the world today is like looking back at life on another planet. It was a great time to be a kid.
Every time I hear this theme song I think of Donald May who played Adam Drake because when I did an interview with him back In 2016, when this theme played at the end of the interview he said “Those were good days.” Shows how much he really loved this show and his work. Rest In Peace Don.
I remember this very well. Although I did not see the last CBS episode. I wondered what announcer Hal Simms said at the end like tune in Monday for The Edge of Night even though the show would be on ABC the following Monday. Or did they just let the music and credit roll with no announce at all. I would love to see the last CBS episode of Edge. Time flies. In a week it would be 45 years since Edge left CBS.
It's how I got started watching Edge as a kid. Loved TPIR and tuned early in to hear the announcement, caught the story about Nicole and Adam that led to the explosion of The Sprite and was hooked!
This Theme Was Carried Over To ABC. By Edge's 20th Anniversary In 1976, At Some Point After - They Kept This Logo And Title Card, And Used This Logo With The 1976 - 1980 Theme For A While Until 1977. I Dont Know When The New Logo First Started In '77. That Was Used Until June 1980, When That Point On Used The LA Skyline, Until September 1983.
When I first saw The Edge of Night Logo I thought the title had flecks of black dirt all over the title (UGH!) But after the ending credits roll and a Procter & Gamble plug, the Edge Logo comes back-all clean and yellow, the way a Soap Opera title SHOULD be. ❤️ I hope that CBS can bring The Eddddge back to CBS Daytime. When I was young the opening credits used to scare me
