This is a comparison between 10 bit color modes to provide HDR (High Dynamic Range) for video. In this example, HLG provides a much better HDR effect for backlit clouds and snow details.
The Pocket 3's HLG files are recognised as Rec2100 in Davinci Resolve, where the Color Space can be transformed correctly and scientifically. D-LogM is a DJI proprietary colour space, the characteristics of which have never been published, so any subsequent color correction is complete guesswork. The DJI-provided LUT for D-LogM works in the inferior Rec709 colour space only. The almost ubiquitous use of D-LogM is a product of UA-cam-inspired groupthink. I get much better results with HLG.
Hello, I don't understand if HLG has the same extended dynamic range as D-Log M. Is it possible to work it well in post production like a Log file? Can I mix some clips shot in HLG with Pocket 3 and some clips shot inn V-Log with my GH6?
This is a great comparison video. I'm going to start shooting in HLG. Thanks!
Thanks 🙏 great reference
Glad it was helpful!
Are they the same exposure and density? HLG seems to be slightly underexposed in comparison
