Andrew, I enjoy your videos. I used to smoke sturgeon dry like that. I soaked it in a brine made of water, soy sauce, salt, brown sugar, garlic and pepper. I'd let it soak overnight in a 5 gallon bucket and put it on the smoker the next day. It would usually take a whole day to get it dry enough, but it was good. I like smoked fish. A five of diamonds Daredevle is one of my top pike lures, they seem to like it.
Boy them damn bugs look like sparrows!!! The fishing on a bad day up there is better than a good day down here for pike any how! See you and Charlie have a new friend! Glad to see you posting man!
Theres that fancy fishin pole! That was my first comment...lol..it gets the job done quite nice eh? Damn this stuff always makes me hungry! Those 2 pike produced a bunch of meat...damn! Livin off the land and water...just great
Love this video. You are one smooth dude. Tough too - that was a shitload of tobasco. Hope you didn't give any to Charlie. Looking forward to more of this charming stuff.

Nice! I have a recipe I like to use with my electric smoker. Give it a try if you like: 1) Fillet fish into 4" by 4" chunks, with the skin on 2) Cover them in salt in a bin, every square inch. 3) after 30 minutes, rinse off each piece and drain (don't go much longer than this!) 4) throw them into a container, and cover them totally in brown sugar. Throw in a good amount of course fresh ground pepper and mix. 5) Leave in the fridge overnight to marinade 6) smoke with dry wood you soaked in water overnight. It's a better flavor than wet wood. I like Cherry, Maple, or Apple 7) smoke and enjoy! Cheers
We use salt brine on the east coast, dip it for a minute and put it in the smoker. We use mostly haddock, and mackeral and they taste really good smoked.
Great vid Andrew. I'm so tempted to build a small smoker at my camp, that Pike looked awesome. Pike tastes awesome but hate that y-bone, I can never clean them properly. I don' t have diamond willow trees near me but you suggested bark stripped birch so I'll try that. I could see the gash in Charlie's side is healing nicely. Cheers and all the best man. Ed
Hey good fishing Andrew ever try keeping the fillets whole ? and just lightly cube the whole fillet in about a inch cube pattern scored with knife half way through thats how the good folk do it with white fish up north back home up north in fort chip Lake athabasca delicous! Also i tryed smoked recipe like yours but with brown sugar hotsauce and soya sauce and a hint of pepper alil salt soak fish in the brine for a day Put in the smoke house good stuff smoked Canadian Candy eye pike!

Hey Andrew! Good to see you back at the cabin. Who'd the new side kick? Hope the garden produces for you, love fresh veggies and potatoes. Starting to get things ready for our trapping & hunting season down here. Bought the whole 1st season of Fur Harvesters NWT....really enjoyed it and congrats on the award. Well deserved!!!
Andrew, real nice job on that smoke house. Did you have to put the fish in a salt brime before smoking? Can't wait for your next video, the best on utube !! Denny
Here is my recipe for smoked salmon: Cut fish in strips or leave whole. i cup salt, 2 cups brown sugar [or white sugar]. 1 tbl dried garlic [ i like to use fresh crushed garlic], 1 tbl pepper, mix all together in bowel, lay fish out and sprinkle this mix on fish and put in bowel to soak 6 hours, wash off and pad dry with towel. I like crushed pepper corns so i sprinkle some on once fish is on smoking rakes, put in smoker. Smoke slowly no flames showing.
hey could I buy some fish sticks like this that you make? where I live I don't have oppertunity to get fish like that or really any good fish because there isn't anywhere good that is close that I can fish at and I don't have means to travel...honestly if I had the money I would move to Alaska and live just like you do always been my dream you are very lucky! look forward to seeing more vids like this thanks
Hey Andrew, good stuff..A request tho...maybe you could pick up a mic. Reason i say this is when your away from your cameras mic we cant here ya as well...Just a thought...
Hi, I hope you and charlie are well now and stay well. Whats the other dog? I would love to watch you catch fish with a ‘seine-net.’ Seine netting was part of the way I used to catch fish and it was only a 75 metre net in 2 metre deep water but it was hard work, taking two to three hours to catch and transfer the several thousands of fish to the river, I loved to do that! Good lock with your garden. Are you going to plant some potatoes and greens? Take care mrbluenun
TheWildNorth I bet it is interesting shouting for shit shit if your mother lives around others eh ;=0 ! I appreciate your reply and look forward to watching any other vids including and hopefully the net fishing. Takes care mrbluenun

Good one. Did you smoke the pike with the bones or were they removed while filleting? Charlie seems to be healing up nice. Are you dog sitting for someone? Thanks for posting the video.
I swear he looks like Boomhauer without the blonde hair. Hey man, if you like tobasco, you should get yourself a container or a shaker of dry cayenne pepper. That's all it is: cayenne and vinegar. I use it a lot in soups, stews and to spice things up.
You don't worry about Y bones I see. I spent time perfecting y-bone removal.... Though I'm feeding pike to my kids so I figure it's safer and a more appealing meal without the bones.
These older videos are gold!!

Smoked fish of any sort is good, specially when you never had some for awhile. It's the smoke from the forest fires that's doing me in.
