Love all your video's, I had a Charlie back in the 70's, he was a good dog too. I think of him every-time I watch your vid's. Love the trap-line, you have a great way of putting things together. I could taste that smoked meat, I'll have to get some started, mine will be venison. Keep them coming, keep your knives sharp and good fishing and Trapping this season.

My trigger finger started twitching when you zoomed in on the wolf haha. Great video man. Growing up in Amish country they all had ice houses. It was pretty incredible walking into their ice house in July and seeing it half stocked with blocks of ice they cut from the neighbors pond. Might be a welcome addition to your cabin eh? Even a smaller version dug out in the ground. Trying to remember how it was built...block lined with styrofoam and sawdust I think.

September 1st is rght around the corner, can't wait to see some moose video if you harvest a moose.
I have watched your video on smoked beaver. Is the other meat from your trapping edible? I guess yes for rabbit what about the linx, wolverine and others that are trapped... can you use any of that meat or maybe make dinner for Charlie? Thanks man, great videos and appreciate you sharing your way of life with your UA-cam fans.

Now I'm going to look and see if you have a "how to" on skinning and putting up beaver. Keep em coming, can't wait for the next one! Keep living the "Dream" brother.

I love your videos... wish there was a place here in AK that we could set up like you have and make it out there in the woods and have avail all the meat you do. Curious when your done smoking/drying your meat what do you store it in or how do you store it to preserve it through the summer time to prevent it from getting moisture.

Great video, thanks! Any chance you could go into a little more depth on a video concerning the smoke house and smoking process? How did you build it and would you do it differently? Is that considered cold smoking?

  • @mushercdn

Another good video. Interesting wolf scene. Do you think the smoke was a factor in attracting it? What type of wood do you smoke with? The snow house suggestion is a good one. We have one at the fishing camp and we have snow until august. It's dug into the ground and lined with old mattrises.

Andrew, you don't need a bigger smoke shack. Just more racks, like double the four you have, Smoke is cheap, and more racks keep in more heat. Smoke will always rise, why not use the heat to do more meat?? You can space those racks at 4-5 inches and still make great meat. Go for it! Also, have you ever considered drying meat with just salt?? I love the taste of smoked meat/fish, but might tire of it 265 days a year!

im surprised you dont tap maples and make syrup, ive done it for several years and really love the syrup and it also cooks down into quite a bit of sugar as well when i dont stop at syrup in the reducing. Putting your own syrup on that beautiful pancake would of really set it off! no offense but that looked like fake corn syrup shit which is bringing down that awesome wild berry meal, i like the wild blueberrys near me and agree it transforms a pancake. what a great vid man, some wolf as well.. looked big even across that huge river, wish youd show how you break down a quarter and slice it, i would isolate muscle groups, get em as lean as i can then slice across the grain, whats your method? good looking slices you got there.
