I just realized that Levi and Hanji are the only veterans alive in season 4. They survived the longest in the Survey Corps. I bet you anything Hanji is the closest to Levi. But (SPOILERS)
when Hanji's death gets animated, Levi will be the only veteran alive. That hurts a lot. He lost his only best friend who had been alive for such long times.

Levi not only was strong, but a role model for many. I agree that when he had to kill him, it was really sad. Levi deserved better than this 🙃
I like his voice in that season. His design was really good. Now to where that Levi Ackerman has to be one of the best Attack on Titan characters.

Erwin lives thanks to Levi. He can't stop thinking about him as we was the only person who knew the real, human Erwin. And as Erwin was Levi's most important person. PS: the new Guidebook is out and it keeps showing Erwin and Levi are each other's most important person, since it says Levi has been obsessed with his vow to Erwin that has been in his heart for more than 4 years, and that Levi is the one regaining Erwin's humanity. I love their deep bond!

I love Hanji and their character, they're a great commander, but they were never mentioned in OP's comment. The comment was about how WHENEVER we catch a glimpse of Levi's thougts, Erwin is ALWAYS there, because he was, is and will always be Levi's most important person, like OP said. Isayama himself said so, literally saying that Erwin is the person "whose existence exceeds that of Levi's own".

Like the Ackermans awaken their strength at certain situations, I have also awakened my strength of understanding Japanese without subtitles. Tho I only studied N5 and half of N4. I guess Anime taught me Japanese better than my effort.
