My humble request to the creators ... It's been seventy plus years and we have all seen the horrors of partition for which the one and only gandhi was responsible ... atleast now tell the right side of the story to people and stop whitewashing the image of such a cruel snake who let more than 10 lakh people die because of the partition. He could've stopped it, just show people why didn't he...? If you have the courage...

Very few will realize that both MK Gandhi and Nathuram Godse were both evolved souls. The words of Godse in court, and Gandhi on Pakistan stand a testament to it. Just as Gandhi was not afraid of death, so was Nathuram not afraid of it and had surrendered to police. It is different from a terrorist's violence where he is afraid of death and tries to escape. When Nathuram was told his capital punishment can be modified, he refused it and took the capital punishment. The need for Gandhi's non-violence was over, and the need for justified violence had arrived. In the pages of history one will find many such examples where a non-violent man is replaced by another evolved soul for the larger good of the future. A country cannot be ruled by non-violence is a fact which even Neeti shastras agree. Self-defence even though through violent means is a basic principle of governance and human life. Both the revolutionaries who took up arms and Gandhi who refused to take up arms are at high pedestal, it is the intention and the principle that a man has which is more important. For those who know the difference, Gandhi was becoming a Sadhu and Nathuram was becoming a Viveki, both a cut above ordinary.
This is by far the best comment and yet has so few upvotes, speaks a lot about the populace understanding, always willing to paint everything as white or black, that is western approach. In India we understand that there is truth, false and a 'mithya', but this understanding is fading.

Those who approve of violence have not read or understood Hinduism. They may call themselves Hindus but they know nothing of karma or the great spiritual laws governing the universe. No English people never tried or even thought to kill him but an Indian... All other nations including enemies respected his greatness. It was true post-independent India without Gandhi was more hard and horrible than the India ruled by British. Still now his greatness and his weapon of non-violence are being killed by the leaders those were assigned to lead the people. Indians remember Gandhi only by his name.

We all owe highest respect and gratitude for Bapu. No doubt. However, we cannot hate Godse forever, unless we understand him, the time this took place, and of course the critical moments!!
We should not hate Godse and celebrate him too. He was righteous in his action, I am not talking anything away from Gandhiji, he had his own contribution.
For a proper discussion on this, we must first set right the Historical records, all pushed by JNU products such as Romila Thapad, Irfan habeeb, these 'deshdrohi, neech' people, only after the records have been set straight can there be a discussion.
The act of killing someone can't be justified.
There was no imminent threat from him, he was Bapu not a murderer. Such a disgrace that people, living in 21st century, still justify the act.
We should've heard the justification given by Nathooram Godse in the court room. I have read some in many books but still not sure is it true or false.

This story is slightly incomplete. Dhebar bhai and my grandfather Rasiklal U Parikh the CM and HM of Saurashtra were in meeting with Bapu to discuss the future of Saurashtra state. Bapu left the meeting for the prayers and never returned. This I had read somewhere and it is confirmed in the recent book by his grandson.

@@veersingh20 let me humbly tell you brother I have read more than few books on mahatma..his very famous autobiography and his ideological book,namely,hind swaraj..and those written on him by likes of Lewis fisher,Roman Rolland,Rajmohan Gandhi, Ramachandra Guha,Markand parajpe and so many articles apart from my upsc study..so I am not one of those critical of him only out of recurring trend of my younger generation.....I do respect him for his several selfless contributions like uniting nation,working for untouchables,hindu-muslim harmony and orchestrating popular movements....but wht I hate is attempt to making him only leader of country at expense of equal,if not far greater leaders like Netaji,sardar Patel, drAmbedkar and many others....and Netaji being most deserving..

In one way Mahatma Gandhi's assisination became important but in other way it feel sad as Gandhiji's contribution towards the independence of our country also cannot be forgotten. Though some of his decisions were obliviously wrong but I think he was compelled and became weak in font of Jinnah and many other conspirators who wanted partition that time.

Gopalakrishna Gandhi ( Former West Bengal Governor) Rajmohan Gandhi, Ramachandra Gandhi, are all still living in India. I don't know about the whereabouts of the fourth generations. Gandhiji knew that Partition would be avenged with his blood, sooner or later. Standard safety measures could not avert his assassination. By the way, did Godse have a word with Jinnah about his thoughts of Pakistan or the actions Jinnah was prepared to take if denied a separate country?
In this video Some say three bullets, some say four bullets; which is true three or four bullets. if N.V.Godse fired three bullets where did the fourth bullet come from?
55-crores is not the sole reason for killing Gandhiji, there are other more serious complaints against Gandhiji from the assassins. We cannot know the truth until Godse defence papers in the murder trial are published.

God Bless Nathuram Godse. A true servant to his country and people. Just as one can't deny the good that Gandhi brought, he also brought bad with him as well. He had threatened to go on a fast to the death unless India released 55 crores to Pakistan which already by that time had starting bombarding Kashmir. Without Godse, who knows what might have been India's fate. Possibly Gandhi in the future might have fasted so that Pakistan got even more money and Punjab and Hyderabad too possibly. Generous to the enemy, cruel to his own people, that was Gandhi for you.

This is one sided story. Also Read WHY I KILLED GANDHI by Nathuram Godse. Then make opinion. Every party to an issue has most basic right of at least being heard. It would be dishonest to make opinion about Godse without knowing his side of the story.

It all boils down to one thing, which side do you choose. It's not about hating the people on the opposite side but not believing and following the principles of opposite side.
I cannot say which side is good to you but I might have a framework in assessing which side profess eternal and divine values. The framework begins with losing the sense of self (Aham) and then understanding which side practised and preached values that are suitable to humanity as a whole.
Unfortunately there are no black and whites in this world but only grey and I chose the side of Mahatma and the eternal and divine values he preached and practiced.
