No wonder we all had a crush on this guy who we knew was a deep-feeling poet and musical genius, who had the most unique voice that could never be replicated, who was able to express his feelings and our lives through his words and that voice. He sounded his absolute best here. His voice was really powerful and expressive. I always thought of him primarily as a songwriter, but his vocals on all the songs at the BBC show are extraordinary. Also, he was still sorta shy at this point, which is totally charming, yet his wit and humor comes through. I really picked up on an intellectual vibe. How cool it would have been to be able to sit and just chat with him back then!

This is the Neil Diamond version of the 1968 Elvis Comeback Special. Just dynamic, showing Neil like we had never seen him before and have never seen him this way since. Brilliant video.

I saw him at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta 1976. 2 hrs 20 mins. He never spoke one word. Zero. Deadly serious. To this day the greatest musical experience of my life. We walked out onto Peachtree St. Stunned. Speechless
Every single concert I went to he came on and didn’t leave the stage until the end. His stamina was amazing. It was devastating to learn of his Parkinson’s diagnosis. was cruel as it effects the vocal chords.
Heard of Neil Diamond years ago, listened & thought, ok, not that bad, nothing really that special perhaps?, whats the fuss about? Then, I heard his songs more than 10 years later and I gradually, slowly, realised, wow, this guy has a really (god given?) amazing talent...what a voice, the feeling behind each and every song , beautiful.. what an amazing force.

First saw this on BBC 2 in concert 1971.saw him live in 6 concerts over the years. In my opinion the greatest singer/song writer ever,he writes from the heart ,that's where his songs come from...magnificent.
Handsome and most beautiful expert at singing. He is loved by me always, since I was 14 years old. He is always there with me, every day and every night. Nothing but intelligence and pure love, is what he is made of. I send the same to people that believe in me.
I admit, back in the 70s I didn't give much attention to Neil. But now in my 60s, he's become one of my favorites. He's in a lane all his own and his humanity shines in every song he wrote and performed. I'm glad I rediscovered him.

Fabuloso, fuera de. Serie, una voz privilegiada, Éxitos asegurados con su talento musical.
@@agripinanunez6396 Certainly Neil has a privileged voice. No comparison.
MAJOR props to the brilliant BBC audio and video engineers. This looks (and sounds) like it could have been recorded just a few years ago.
Merveilleuse. Formidable. Musique. 1.095♥️🌟🍀💯🏆
I could sit and look at this man and never get tired . Such a great looking guy super talented. Love you Neil . You’re the best .💎❤️🍷
Fully agree♥️
I one hundred percent agree!!!
I'm getting old now but still think he's the most gorgeous looking man I've ever seen😊
As I listen to these songs, I am transported back to age 15 and playing Neil Diamond on my transitor radio. Thanks for the memories.
My sister saw him play as the warm-up act for a Grass Roots Concert at an Iowa college. Said his was the best stuff ever.
The best kind of man. Simple, humble, visceral. OMGoodness!!! Takes my breath away.❤
A fantastic legend in his own time!!! Loved you then and love you now!!❤❤❤❤❤

First saw this on BBC 2 in concert 1971.saw him live in 6 concerts over the years. In my opinion the greatest singer/song writer ever,he writes from the heart ,that's where his songs come from...magnificent.
Wow! Fantastic. So lovely! Thanks for sharing!
Those eyes, those lips, that voice...❤
I was babysitting kids in 1976 and they had a record player and Neil Diamond records, first time I heard him and fell in love
My God i was 6 years old when this beautiful song came to my childhood from this great golden singer made by God.
So glad this concert was posted. BBC had good quality cameras and audio! Neil and his songs are awesome. Listening to Neil is a definite Spiritual Experience
This is gods gift to the world! The world loves him
Know matter how many times I listen to his songs, it’s like the first time ❤️❤️
I feel exactly the same way Marcia,I play Neil,s music almost every day ,and it does feel as though I,m hearing it for the first time.pure class.
I saw Neil in concert at Blossom music center in the 80's when the full moon came up behind the stage. The crowd went wild! Truly a great show!
Saw Neil at Tacoma Dome WA. late 70's
I think I was there too
The HAIR... my god this man is attractive.. I've loved Neil Diamond my whole life.
Thank you for posting this concert. It is beautiful and quintissential Neil! I particularly like his candid chatter at the beginning of songs.
He sang with emotion and love in his voice. I just love him for all he accomplished in life. God bless you Neil Diamond. You captured many hearts ❤️ 💕🫶🏻. So humble and kind.
Agree
Sooooo good looking, young and so vulnerable with his songs and singing.
My 15/16 year old crush on this “older” man 😍
Still my 68 year old crush.
Me too
Best rendition of Holly Holy, love those drums at the end. So good I nearly forget how sensual that man is.
Very deep emotion in all his songs
I also love when the tympani starts in.
Definitely agree - best version ever! Band is great too. He puts so much into performing Holly Holy he seems to need to recover at the end. Love it - and him!!
No one like Neil Diamond…..never will be….so so so talented……be it a small group like this or huge crowd…..he is mesmerizing and has everyone in the palm of his hand…….love listening to this so much!!!!!!!!!
I enjoy watching and listening with your song Neil diamond,,sad it's only now I discovered your songs and voice it's so lovely and amazing voice,,bravo,, GOD ♥️ bless you sir
What a voice. He’s a true legend.
I wonder if he is aware of how many people get so much pleasure from his words. He deserves every accolade ever person puts on him. Beautiful , beautiful ❣️
Brilliant performance. As big as he is, he has always been slightly underrated because of his huge commercial success. A great songwriter - and a great singer.
GUANDO OUÇO ESSE ARTISTA MARAVILHOSO FICO SEM FOLEGO O CORAÇÃO QUERENDO EXPLODIR DE TANTA EMOÇÃO . SÃO TANTAS EMOÇÕES EU TÉ AMO LOVE YUUUUUUUUUUUUU HAUUUUUUUUUUUUUU ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I am impressed with this version of He Ain't Heavy
To the camera operators, thank you, thank you, thank you . . . Wow! Perfection.
I remember watching this when it was first broadcast. He was a revelation. My Mum fell in love with him instantly!!
Love his music. So much feeling in his music. I love just listening to the words. That man can write music.
Yes great feeling
My mom has always been a big fan of his. I played this performance for her on my big screen TV, and she just sat there with her mouth hanging open. Yeah mom, as an adult I get it now too!
It was just a few months after this performance that I saw Neil in concert for the first time and 33 times after that. Here I am, 52 years later and love him and his music as much as ever if not more. Be well, Mr. D!! You are loved by many💎💎❤
Still touches the soul...
Absolutely♥️
L.E.G.E.N.D 🎸🔊 🙏
I love all his songs but "I Am I Said" is my very favorite. It draws me so completely in.
I've been there.
My favourite too, reminds me of ME
I saw Neal in concert 15 to 20 times. I've never thought much about celebrities or meeting them except for him. His music was so deep and heartfelt that he is the only person or celebrity that I ever wanted to meet in my life. I grew up on his music and still listen to it all the time
He was brilliant, here. Love this concert! 🤩
Maravillosamente único .
Tus canciones me hacen sentirme viva y recordar.
Mil gracias.
One of my favorite concerts. Nearly 50 years ago 💕💕
Neil
I love that he loves his band!
Neil Diamond...when I heard this latest song it can be summed.up in one expression....PRETTY AMAZING❤❤🙏
Neil is great. Great forever.
Now that I know the meaning of Crackling Rose I love it even more
Neil is a terrific rhythm guitar player, as this show proves.
He ain't heavy....so beautiful song..speaks of love and family ❤️. Thank you youtube and ND
This is his best live concert. Thank you for posting.
I agree with you. Of all the dozens or hundreds of concerts, this is the best, in my opinion. He was enjoying himself so much! Of course BBC has very good cameramen and directos, and so on. All in all, I always come back to this one.
Great performance....he sung this song with his heart on it...perfect to the letter....luv ya ND..
