One of the best versions of this number I've ever heard, and I've heard a few. The whole show (The Wildlife Concert) is phenomenal. The Doobies are a relative rarity among rock bands in that they sound better live than they do in the studio. Got to be one of the tightest outfits out there. No disrespect to Mr. McDonald, he's a superb musician, but this band was never the same without Tommy and Pat up front. This is the Doobies I love!
I'm 70 now, hurt alot; this gets me out of it alot. Antipain Doobies! Jack it up so loud it makes the joists of this old house vibrate like a huge echo chamber. Old houses like the insides of an acoustic guitar.
Oh Man, I Am DIGGIN' This Shit. This Is Great, I Haven't Heard Doobie Brothers In Like 40 yrs. They Were GREAT Way Back When, In The 70s. BUT NOW........DAMN!!!! THIS IS GOOD STUFF!!!
..from an old guy, in the 70's music ERA, this song is great and brings back many great times. Many young folks seeing this post, take heed, one day you will repeat these words...I can promise you this...as I have done so...
+Jack Russell Well, at least nowadays they have John Cowan (I THINK he's still with them); Cowan was part of New Grass Revival with legendary jazz fusion artist Bela Fleck and mandolinist/fiddler master Sam Bush. Look some of their stuff up, you won't regret it.
A thursday evening in my hometown: after evening school i went to a disco (?) and stared around,Not much going on.I dropped my schoolbooks behind the bar and asked for a beer.Across the dance floor was a little small blond girl staring at me, i stared back and smiled,She looked nice. The discjockey started with EW @F,Spiral from the Crusaders and then she was there: we talked a bit and she asked me for the next song:This one, never left my mind: the song and the girl :Doobies forever
Indeed, as were many of their great antecedents such as Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Creedance Clearwater Revival, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Band of Gypsies & a few hundred other US bands- all unique. It's a beautiful world.
Long Train Runnin'" (or "Long Train Running") is a song recorded by The Doobie Brothers and written by band member Tom Johnston. It was included on the band's 1973 album The Captain and Me and released as a single, becoming a top 10 hit on the US Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 8. It was covered by Italian band Traks in 1982 and then by English girl group Bananarama in 1991. In 1993, the Doobie Brothers version was remixed and charted again in several countries. The song is sometimes titled "Long Train Runnin' (Without Love)" due to the words "without love" being sung frequently during the song. The harmonica bridge is played by lead vocalist Tom Johnston (neoformracktv): Live the good rock & rooll / (neoformracktv: Soon online)
Anyone: where was this and what year? New York? This is the most energetic performance of the Doobies that I've found on UA-cam. That Bassist is just bouncing, harmonica man seems to have been born with that instrument in his vocal chords and lungs, and the drummers are fanatic. Pat is so far gone into it he goes down into the audience. In the front row is a drop dead gorgeous brunette young woman wearing a white blouse who would be inspiration to any living musician and could probably raise the dead.
The lead singer for the Doobie Bros. Is the same guy who was the lead singer of Toto? Blue Oyster Cult? The bassist for Van Halen? The lead singer AND drummer for Boston! PLUS The lead singer for ELO!
I know! This is why I'm glad we still have lots of quality rock from the 60's through 80's. After the 80's, with the exception of Nirvana, music started to suck. And now, society only cares about pop stars like Justin Bieber, One Direction, and Taylor Swift, musicians who don't usually play an instrument onstage, and aren't skilled at all when they do. The Doobies know how to rock the singing and instrument aspects, and I have never seen a pop star play bass half as good as Tiran Porter (the bassist in this video). What happened to the value of good music?
Agreed! Music died after the 80's. Why people value all this shitty pop you hear today just shows that society doesn't give a shit about real music anymore. I have no faith in humanity because of this
4 great guitars, 2 drummers, congas, keys, back up vocals, and a killer harmonica solo!
There’s 3 guitars, not 4. 🤷🏻♂️
@@alexandreguitar 3 Guitars and a Bass Guitar equals 4 Guitars. Thank you and keep rockin!
The harmonica solo is what puts this great song over the top

It’s funny how you go back to listening bands like the doobie brothers etc from the 70s because they were that good and their music lives forever
Couldn't agree more, man.
These are real musicians period.
That’s my Doobies .Amazing band amazing set .
I'm 70 now, hurt alot; this gets me out of it alot. Antipain Doobies! Jack it up so loud it makes the joists of this old house vibrate like a huge echo chamber. Old houses like the insides of an acoustic guitar.

Listen to this song very very loud before the world ends.
This is the kind of performance that makes people go out and buy a harmonica only to be disappointed when it just doesn't sound the same at home lol
Yeah... how do you know that I did so??????!!!!!?!?!?!!?
ahahahahaha
True man! So true!
Been there, done that 🤦♂️
..from an old guy, in the 70's music ERA, this song is great and brings back many great times. Many young folks seeing this post, take heed, one day you will repeat these words...I can promise you this...as I have done so...

How great it must be to do what you really love for a living!
Man those guys could jam . And they had a unique sound. They of course were an American band.
Indeed, as were many of their great antecedents such as Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Creedance Clearwater Revival, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Band of Gypsies & a few hundred other US bands- all unique. It's a beautiful world.

3 Fender Strats/Telecasters carrying that iconic rhytm guitar theme! I LOVE IT! :-) And the harmonica, drum and bass solos ROCK!
I don't think the guitars are Fenders. They're clones
@@gohjohan they're custom Luthier guitars 😉

Great music, seems a pity there hasn't been a decent song composed since the late 80's!!
