    Excellent and thorough review. This is one of several ebikes I'm considering and reviews like this are helping me form my decision. Much appreciated.

    @kjohns1413 3 роки тому +6

    Having a large spark is pretty normal on DIY ebikes with xt-90 connectors. Having a battery with on/off though helps. The one thing on this bike that surprises me is the settings in the screen is more than what you have on most ebikes. To be able to program your pedal assist levels on the fly without programming cable is huge, and should be on all ebikes.

      The nice color screen with customizable power/pas settings was a big selling point for me - I want to dial my first couple levels down to be really low for getting exercise and range, and tune one of the upper levels to match a comfy cadence on the highest gear

    First time to your channel, JimboP - and a new subscriber. Nice video! I really enjoyed your thorough and systematic review of the Magicycle Cruiser. You pointed out issues (with solutions) that I haven't seen on other reviews - very helpful! It's obvious that you are an experienced biker. I'm currently looking into getting an e-bike and am considering the Magicycle due to its power and built quality. Your video is helping me with this consideration. I currently ride two very old (but really nice) Schwinns, one is a 1995 Classic Cruiser (100th anniversary bike), and the other is a 1981 LeTour Tourist 10-speed - both in excellent condition. I trade off on each bike all through the riding season, putting about 700+ miles on them per year. When in my 20s I used to do 70+ mile rides, now I do 30 miles or less per ride. I still ride the 10-speed up one of Peoria's longest bluff hills with minimum difficulty. This year I turn 65 and am looking for a bike to do longer rides with somewhat less effort. I'll probably go with the Magicycle, but the Beecool Bee Adventurer cruiser from Manchester is a close 2nd with a little more range and battery. Thanks again and enjoy your rides!

    • @JimboP-Outside
      @JimboP-Outside  2 роки тому

      Thank you Larry, really glad the video helped you out. 👍 I had a nice Trek 4600 that I’d ride often, like you, but in my older years me knees get a bit stiff sometimes sore. An e-bike is such a huge relief since I can still ride/pedal but also get a brake from the motor. Good luck with your research, enjoy your new ride!

    • @larryware1
      @larryware1 2 роки тому

      @@JimboP-Outside in 1977 I purchased an early Trek model before their name was popular. It was a 10-speed touring bike, custom ordered so I could get their 26 inch frame. I kept it until about 13 years ago. It was always a joy to ride but as I got older I no longer wanted to slouch down to ride with the down-turn handlebars. I understand what you are talking about in terms of getting older. I'm ready for some assistance and plan on riding the e-bike into work until I retire later this year. I went ahead and ordered the Magicycle like yours. They are shipping it today and I'll do a video review on my wife's UA-cam channel (Under the Median) when it comes in. Thanks again for all your helpful information!

      Hey Tom! Yes, these were both tight fits. Only way I could install was the left one wrapped around the outside of the handlebar while sitting on the bike, but the right side had to be installed on the inside of the handlebars. Not sure if this makes sense or if I can post pics, but if you look at time stamp 2:22 which is somewhat of a closeup of the mirrors, you should be able to see what I mean. If not contact me on FB and I’ll send pics. 👍

    Great informative post thank you Jimbo. I hear the freebie lock is on the cheap side? Do you know if the manufacturer has option for turn signals? Or…maybe after market set around? Thanks a heap, Scott

    • @JimboP-Outside
      @JimboP-Outside  3 роки тому

      Thanks Scott 🙏 The freebie lock is certainly not the most secure, I would think a decent set of bolt cutters wouldn’t have much of a problem with it. Still, since I don’t plan on leaving my bike outside unattended for any amount of time (maybe quick errand, a coffee, bathroom break, etc.) it’s good in a pinch. Plus it’s free. But this is personal preference only…..if you intend to leave your bike out like perhaps going into an office building for a day, you would absolutely want to upgrade to something more robust. Regarding the turn signals, while I‘ve seen aftermarket sets for e-bikes in general I don’t see any offered by Magicycle at the moment.

      @@JimboP-Outside from the ridiculous amount of time I’ve spent researching these bikes, I never thought there would be so many things to consider.
      Customer service is paramount to me (sides with product quality), I was reassured with Magicycle as I placed my order on a Sunday afternoon and they followed up with a initial invoice within the half hour. Had my cc get denied strangely but after speaking w/the bank we were fine. Last thing, if you had to guess, how long will it take to ship in your estimation? I know they’re flying off the racks.

      @@skelley164 I’ve found Magicycle to be very responsive to emails, gratefully. For example each time I reinsert the battery into the bike (I prefer to charge in the house) it sparks. I told them and their engineers are developing a fix. Also, the mechanical brakes are not so great. They listened and will be upgrading at a later date. To your question though, I ordered on September 22nd and it was on my driveway on October 1st. Hope yours arrives soon, I really think you’ll enjoy it. I went for another 12 mile ride yesterday and had a great time!

I think I heard somebody say their Himi did the same thing now and then? Idk. Thanks man

    New subscriber here. This market is not that big. Those ebikes are "luxury" in a normal world where average pay is 7000$ a year.
    I love the brand they put a lot of thoughts into it, only missing the mark with hydraulic breaks pretty much.
    I much prefer hub motors vs mid drives in case your chain brakes motor got your back. Mid drive in the other hand are better for changing flats and 160nm of tourge compare to hubs that max out at 95nm at best.
