I bought the upgraded brake version this year and the mechanical brakes work totally fine. No squeaks, and stop the bike in a hurry. I’ve learnef to pull both brake handles simultaneously and hard for quick stops.
@@bernievassallo3336 the week after this Lectric had a really good sale (free comfort package) so I ended up canceling my order before I even got the bike. I ride the Lectric XP 2.0 Step Thru and it handles the hills of NW San Antonio just fine! If you live in an exceptionally steep/mountainous area, you may want the extra torque, but I’ve never felt as if my bike wasn’t enough.
The MagiCycle Cruiser Pro is fantastic and is a steal for the price tag. 52V40Ah battery (2,080 watt hours) bike for $2,600 while you have an AddMotor M5600 going for a pricey $3,600 and only have 48V17.4Ah battery (835 watt hours).
I'm happy to see so many accessories! Maybe a little too much if I'm honest, like the included lock. For me, the bike has some design problems, namely the exposed controller and the weird placements of some things like the water bottle mount. I also don't like the brake components and the style with the somewhat tacky writing on the frame. I do like the Kendra (if I remember right) fat tires, customizable assist levels, included accessories (top tube bag, front and rear lights), massive battery, suspension, and the pretty upright riding position. I decided to go with the ride1up 500 series instead because the price is comparable, well thought out design, and the better components, albeit less accessories. Overall, don't be afraid to call out a bike for not being able to put parts like the controller in a better place! It's the design of the bike, so it shouldn't be forgiven for that :)
Cannot agree ride1up 500 has better components. Magicycle has color display, 52v 15ah battery, 3-5 hours fast charger, the weight is 76lbs , rid1up only 55lbs, Magicycle frame is more solid. And the brakes upgraded to Tektro on the coming bikes. If you have both of them in hand you will easily see the difference.
Which style of E-bike do you prefer: the regular style fat tire bikes (like this magicycle or aventon aventure) or the moped style bikes (like the Ariel Rider X-class)? How do they compare in terms of versatillity and ride style? Thank you!!
Just finished a 4 mile ride after assembly. The bike is definitely faster than a Rad Rover 5, especially once you mess with the advanced settings. The brakes, while I'm not having as much of a stopping problem as many youtube videos are showing, I'll be upgrading the brakes with Juintech M1 hydraulic brakes. Rider weight at this time is 241 lbs.
Just did 4 miles after installing the Juintech M1 brakes. They perform very well, allowing me to go from 25mph to zero in about one minivan length. Along with upgrading the crank sprocket to a 52-tooth, I also can keep up with the hub motor even at it's modified max settings.
@@Stellar001100 how the heck did you learn all of these things that you know about ebikes? You're changing the sprocket to keep up with the hub motor? What do you mean by keep up with the hub motor? I'm wondering if there's a UA-cam channel that's very technical and shows what parts are interchangeable?
@@billclark8241 There's a youtuber, Stan the reservoir rat. Has a vid for upgrading a rad rover's front gear sprocket and brake disk upgrade from 180mm to 203mm.
Almost bought one. Went with the aventure. My hight and weight with the bigger battery capacity and quality accessories were key. Aventure has three bike shops that sell them assembled and offer support. It is more, no doubt but worth it for me. A fully assembled and tuned bike with a year of service from a shop that also lets me try accessories and return if they dont work out.
I know that riding the bike till the battery is dead takes awhile but it would be very helpful in making a decision on which bike to get it to me is the most important thing in my decision Evan if you did it before your trip test un filmed and added it to the trip tutorial

Hi Jennifer, I haven't stepped on a Himiway yet so unfortunately I can only comment on the Magicycle. Himiway definitely has been around longer and has sold more bikes.
@@EbikeEscape I got the majicycle today. My husband just had surgery and can't put it together. Don't think I can do it by myself. He has a himiway and I saw the majicycle and thought the handlebars looked like it would sit up taller and I could keep up with him when he's feeling better. I was hoping we would have received it before his surgery. No such luck with all the shipping issues I guess.
I know it depends on a lot of variables but throttle only at your weight on flat ground would help a lot companies always over exaggerate that statistic.
Great powerful bike. It’s very speedy and does a great job climbing hills. Received mine this week and love power and build quality. However the included brakes suck because they squeak and don’t stop well for a bike this size. Upgraded them with cable actuated hydraulic calipers costing me $50 and now no more squeaks and stops like it should. Only takes about 1/2 hour to do brake change. Used the Zoom hb-100 MTB calipers. There are other more expensive brands available but these seem to do the job. Time will tell on brake pad life, but pads are cheap and easy to replace.Felt unsafe with included brakes.
Brakes have definitely been upgraded on current versions. I got the pearl white step through a couple of months ago and brakes work great. No squeaks and and I can lock them up if I want to.
FYI, a 1% fee was added to my purchase price for a 'foreign transaction' (I'm in the US and paid using Paypal). This fee may or may not apply to you just a friendly reminder.
The range depends on so many factors, so it is hard to give a specific number. However from previous testing we have found Magicycle’s range estimate to be accurate. (30-55 miles is what Magicycle estimates the range to be) -JT
Very similar, Himiway has a bit longer of a track record. The Magicycle has a 52V system versus 48V. The displays are different and I haven't tested out the motors against each other. Some small pros/cons to each.
i bought the combo the step thru came with no battery after many e-mails a battery was sent now my tire went flat after sitting for days the valve leaks after a series of e-mails they said i needed to pay for shipping for a new tube i also bought a bike. company (Electric bike) for my wife because the step model was to big for her, both tires leak air after1 e-mail they sent me 2 new tubes no questions ask. i wish i bought all my bikes from Electric bike there support is great not the poor support from magiccycle
lol i dont get why people get fat tire bikes for daily commuting. Unless you're riding in the snow or offroad, it's impractical. It's so much more weightier and it's significantly harder to peddle on lower assist levels!
I think a lot of people just like the feel of the wider tires and they do add lots of comfort. Important to keep in mind that lots of folks buying ebikes today haven't been on a bike in years. So this is something different that also looks cool.
Now this is a topic that really interests me. I bought a mountain bike style bike with pedal assist at the end of the season last year. I took one fairly long ride, and when I got home, I fell down. It was the first time on a bike in 40 + years. I have since put a new seat on the bike, and would like to get another ride in. But I'm waiting until spring. I try to remember the last dump I took on my 10 speed, but I was 18 back then. I'm 60 now and don't heal as fast as I use to. Now this bike has fatter tires than the 10 speed, but nothing like a fat bike. I have time and need to save up for a fat bike anyway. I will be doing MOST of my riding on the streets. If fat tires are really not needed or would be a detriment over regular mountain bike style tires, that would be good to know.
They have similar looks, but are not the same. For example, the Magicycle comes from an award-winning designer, resulting in a unified frame where the beauty is more than skin deep. Magicycle owns the factory that produces their e-bikes...Hemiway does not. Magicycle has 7 levels of customizable power assist; Hemiway has only 5 levels. Magicycle produces 86 Nm torque; Hemiway does not. I could go on, but you get the idea.
I don't think it is a matter of anyone wising up really. True the cruiser style bikes all look very similar STEP thru or not. I have been looking for a little while and find the best LOOKING E-bike around is the CHEETAH from Revi bikes, but also under other names. It is one of the retro motorcycle type designs. That is strictly a matter of opinion I'm not trying to say it isn't. The price point is higher than a magicycle, or the other cruisers, and LOOKS might not be worth much in the long run. The breaks are a better sales point, to consider. All in all I would love to "WIN" a cruiser style fat bike in a give a way. If I "BUY" a fat bike, I think I will hold out for the Cheetah style. They are pretty, and I want one.
@@craigdubya4903 I could be wrong but I believe the Hemiway can be adjusted up to 9 levels of pedal assist. This is only from other reviews I have watched. Don't take my info to the bank as they say.
