- I know I'm going to come down this high and regret making this video in the future but oh well. Final Fantasy XVI is a power fantasy action movie of a roller coaster ride and I wanted to talk about it.

Dude, Reflection of Light and Thunder are insanely good. I made a fully ranged build with Ramuh, Bahamut, and Leviathan, it’s so cool clearing a stage without using the sword once
Ugh the dlc looks so good but I have so much to play. I'll get around to it eventually. Hopefully before the pc release haha.
I really like this game because it give me a memorable journey throughout my playtime. The sad thing is I cannot get the same feeling as my first playthrough. Will keep playing this game again and again😄

Wow thank you, that means so much to me! I'm still trying to figure out what type of videos I actually want to make and it's just really hard making the time with my big boy adult job so I'm still sort of experimenting. Right now it's more of a gaming journal for me to keep track of games I've played and what I liked about them. I definitely want to make them shorter to save myself some time so I can get them out quicker and play more games but we'll see. I ramble way too much lol.
I'm honestly terrified of making a video about Rebirth haha. That game is such a wild adventure that I have no idea what to even say. I stare at a blank page trying to write a script and get nowhere. It's also such a massive game I'm bound to forget so much. I don't think anything I have to say will do it justice haha.
after I finished DLC , I just sat and listen whole OST for one last time knowing I will miss this game for years

One of my faves. Specifically for combos and EIKONS BATTLE
Clive quickly worked his way up to being one of my favorite protagonists of all time. He's the perfect balance between the modern edgy antihero and the softhearted, selfless and optimistic classical fantasy hero. He doesn't lean too far in either direction. He's extremely badass, powerful and cool while still being extremely kind, heroic and lovable.
I'm 100% a stan for Clive Rosfield.
Your excitement was my excitement. Nailed pretty much everything.
Still waiting for the PC version, but I saw EVERYTHING. I love so much this story. I also a regular FFXIV player. I like your review! so positive and sincere. I hope the pc version brings more new fans to this amazing game.

Ff16 and 15 are my favorites, if only 15 was given in a complete package like 16

I think my first experience with Final Fantasy might have been when I was a kid and renting Advent Children from the video store when it first came out and I had no idea what was going on but it was like the coolest thing I'd ever seen haha. I've dabbled in the series before but the first game I actually completed was FF7 Remake so I'm just a poser and a fraud haha.

Long time Final Fantasy fan and enjoyer of all kinds of games. I have to say this is one of my favorite Final Fantasy games. It was the characters, story, and world building that really pulled me in. The combat was fine. Simple, flashy and fun, but nothing amazing. I think peoples expectations of the game and what they got were two different things. To me the game played out exactly how I thought it would and I was ok with that.
It was an excellent action game in cosplay as an RPG

@itscodysteven Ryota Suzuki, this game's combat director, also worked in the DMC series. If you haven't given it a crack yet, get stuck in.
I'll say this, it successfully appealed to people who haven't played Final Fantasy RPG's before. And at the same time, it continued the slippery slide of the franchise away from it's roleplaying roots. Final Fantasy XVI released in the same year and timeframe as Baldur's Gate III, and in most people's minds, Baldur's Gate III is a far deeper and more rewarding experience. It's a much bigger game with a far broader appeal in the gaming market in the current year. Now, Here's the question of importance.
Should Final Fantasy not also be an RPG? Why isn't it an RPG? RPG's are perhaps the biggest genre in the world. Final Fantasy used to be at the forefront of that genre. But yet today, a Final Fantasy mainline title isn't an RPG? This is simply unsustainable. Business is down. Investors are fed up. There's so much at stake here, and for Square to only appeal to casual gamers and not release the game on PC and not be an RPG and compete at the highest level, it's causing the franchise to fall into irrelevancy. As fans, we want this franchise not only to release good games, but CONTINUE to release good games. Releasing games that fail to hit the target audience will eventually lead to NO MORE Final Fantasy games being produced.
This is why the term "RPG" is so vague and applies to such a wide variety of games and frankly should be retired as a genre term because video games have evolved so much that it just doesn't make sense anymore. You keep saying FF16 isn't an rpg but why not? You play the role of Clive, level up through earning experience, unlock new skills and abilities as you progress through the story, it has items, equipment, and shops. By definition, it is an rpg. I would never argue it per se because the rpg elements in ff16 are incredibly shallow and weak and it's definitely a character action game first and an rpg last. For example a party system would have done wonders for this game. Are you mad it doesn't have more/better rpg elements or are you mad that it's not a turned based strategy game because those are two very different conversations.
I think Baldur's Gate 3 is a bad comparison and another reason the term rpg doesn't work anymore. Even if FF went "back to its roots", I don't see how it competes with Baldur's Gate 3. BG3 is such a different game and I don't think any game in the FF franchise is like it. What draws people to BG3 is not the same as what draws people to FF games. In comparison, even classic FF rpg elements are weak. There are a lot of final fantasy games, both mainline and spin offs, you can't fault them for wanting to do different things. Just about every ff game tries something new, they had a vision for a new direction and went for it. Just because it doesn't click with you doesn't mean its a bad game. It reviewed super well and there are plenty of fans of the franchise that liked it. As far as business goes, I think the exclusivity is a problem. It's cool that it's coming to pc though.
I sincerely love your passion and it's the reason I want to make crappy videos. However it is a tad dramatic. I don't think Final Fantasy as a franchise is anywhere close to in danger and it's not going anywhere anytime soon. FF17 is definitely being worked on, what type of game that will be, who knows. If I was a betting man, I think it'll be turned based but we'll see.
Loved Gav! He was like Clive's BFF. Wished they would've given the man an eye patch tho. They made one for Ambrosia..js.
FF16 is probably in the top 10 of my all time favorite games.
I hope they continue Clive's story. Fingers crossed.

I think nowadays, in this social media era, most people than ever cant enjoy things like such games anymore. Cuz of brainrot xD cuz FF games are experience meant to be light and relaxing with characters with optimistic mindset (in opposite to western games characters) edit: im kidding with brainrot thing but i mean people are too stressed, overthinking drains their souls and are saddly negative.
Honestly I think I'm in that camp most of the time. There's a lot about this game that should make me not like it but something about it just really clicked with me. I must have just played it at just the right time in my life to allow myself to enjoy it. It helps that Rebirth came out relatively close to 16 so FF fans can enjoy two totally different experiences.

lol people complained about the combat because they didn’t look at the main ability wheel without the eikons abilities 😂 plus they not good at Devil may cry 😭💯 because the creators of Devil may cry made the combat
I've only played through the first DMC and I'm so embarrassingly bad at it haha. I really need to go back and playthrough that series so I can play DMC5 because that game looks like it was made for me.

The camera movement makes me feel nauseous. I stopped playing because of the camera movement. Does anyone know how to make this better?
Yeah this game does have some weird motion blur and occasional performance issues. You can go into the settings and there's a motion blur slider that you can turn all the way down. You could also try switching the game to performance mode in the settings and see if that helps.

Ya know, every time I play 16 I can tell pretty clearly that something stinks about the game. The RPG elements are weak. The side quests (excluding some) are super tedious and samey. The open world is superfluous and empty... but yet... I still love the game despite these short comings because what it DOES offer and DOES do well, it does REALLY. FUCKING. WELL! The spectical, the combat, the characters, the performances, Tarja, I can go on.
I love FF16, to the point my main complaint is that there isn't more FF16. Here is hoping that the PC release does well, and we get a second round of DLC and improvements! I know I will be buying it again on pc DAY ONE.

Nope. Cameras are just fun to have plus I got it refurbished so it wasn't too bad. Why have a job if not to waste the money on silly hobbies haha.

Admittedly I haven't been to a movie in awhile but I don't remember being so actively involved the last time I went to a movie.

I honestly don't see it. The combat is horribly repetitive and shallow. All the flashy particle effects in the world can't help the fact you are just mashing the same basic combo over and over and over again. Each Eikon is *exactly* the same thing with a different color pallette. You have a single-target damage ability, and AOE ability, a launcher (which is entirely pointless since launching does absolutely nothing) and an ultimate. Without additional effects or elemental affinities, there is nothing to distinguish them. You basic attack string doesn't even change when you swap. Combat ends up being nothing more than mashing square while waiting for cooldowns to reset. It isn't fun or engaging in the slightest.
And as far as the story goes, Clive has all the charm and personality of a cinder block. Also, this is almost *exactly* the same story as Tales of Arise, but done much, much worse, so they don't even get points for originality.

Video games are pretty rad and I just had fun, simple as that. And I hope that you can spend more time playing games you have fun with.
He’s just making a video why he liked the game. Comments like these should be on “Why FF16 sucks” videos. He looks so happy about the game and you’re just obviously just trying to invalidate all his points.
Let people have fun. Not every game should be very complex to be enjoyed.

Everyone's different and it's really hard to see people's intent in comments. They could be intentionally negative to get a reaction or just frustrated with the game and need somewhere to express it and that's okay. I just want my crappy videos to be discussion around games.
Let people enjoy what they enjoy, stop being a party pooper. You may have games you like that people hate too. Think about other before only thinking about yourself.
I honestly don't get it. Comments like this are shallow and devoid of any real depth. Without additional respect or even an understanding of what the game was doing there's nothing to distinguish this comment from any other comment on any other game someone doesn't like. It's a basic attack that wouldn't even change swapping games to level it at. Comments like yours end up being nothing but trashing someone about what they enjoy.
And as far as story goes your comment reads like someone that desperately needs to touch grass. It's the same kind of button mashers BS people said about the OG God of War games, Devil May Cry, and Bayonetta so not even points for originality there.

I really liked ff 15 so I need to give this one a try. 15:I had so much fun with the combat and it was always crazy.
I haven't played 15 but I hope to get to it eventually. The combat just looks so cool visually and I love the idea of going on a road trip with the boys.
I really loved 15 when it came out. I even considered it my favorite ff at one point. Unfortunately it hasn't aged that well for me, to the point that if I play it today I just find it boring
