I was so close doing that! But well... anyways, now it's coming to PC next week and I can't wait. Never thought I would be able to play it that early. I expected 2 years at least. Idk how I dodged spoilers, but I will play this nearly blind and I am so hyped!
I would never, I specifically ignored all about it until it got the PC releasse date announced. But god damn do I understand the temptation. Sony should be paying out massive royalties to Square just for the sheer number of PS5s they have sold on the back of this game.
“Show me your trophies bruh!” Will use it in my next job interview just to show how cool and capable I am. Just like that dude who said it. Let’s hope it goes well🤞🏻 🤦🏻♂️
Even the little things like Cid being the dominant of Ramuh and Benedikta the dominant of Garuda where thunder and wind were weaknesses to each other in previous games. Clive being Fire, Jill being Ice. Those story pieces are little but they add to the entirety of the story.
I went through this weird thing with FF XVI where I was excited for the release. . .loved the first chunk of my playthrough. . .grew disappointed by it. . .then months after, looking back on it, really loved it again. It's just so cool, conceptually.
It just boils down to “fans” just wanting another FFVII over and over and over again. This game was a masterpiece and the fact that FFVII Rebirth has to stand up against XVI is really cool. This is easily Top 3 FFs for me.
@@GATXShinGundam FFXVI is literally a JRPG through and through. I really don’t know what y’all want. The series literally changes every single entry. I’ll take this and FFVIIR over turn based ANYDAY!
@@HupCapNinja The Tales of games and Star Ocean are JRPGs, so it’s not a matter of Action vs. Turn-based. XVI deviates significantly in terms of world structure and lacks RPG and growth subsystems.
This comment is probably going to get plastered, but I really enjoyed the game. I don’t see the problem here, it’s by far not perfect, but I really do appreciate the beauty of the story and I don’t understand why this game is getting so much damn hate. I guess I’ve played worse. 🤷🏻♂️ Could be way, way worse.
You are one of the funniest UA-camrs out there. I love the simple emphasis with which you spit out lines - so funny but sincere. "The graphics are utterly, disgustingly stupid." such a well delivered line. And of course the college sex party bit killed me.
I played the PC demo and fell in love instantly. Cannot agree with you more on your points. Also who the hell are these idiots to tell me how I should be a "good" gamer and what to buy. Really get tired of that attitude. Thanks for the great video. P.S. If anyone from Square-Enix sees this comment, for the love of all that is holy where is are HD-2D remake of Final Fantasy Tactics War of the Lions. Get it done already!
Holy shit, I had forgotten already about this channel and that it was my favorite 😂 I’m already commenting without watching the video. (I’ll be watching it right away. Anyway, welcome back man!
@@leelustig heh heh I will never dare missing your complete videos, man. Your honest opinions about games that no one is “FOMOing” about (ok Elden Ring was incredible), or not simply hating a game just because it’s, I don’t know, Ubisoft is kind of refreshing. And hey… I’m also a rock musician. Respect for that also. Thanks for you reply, and as I said in one of my comments, welcome back!!! Great video as always.
4:10 Literally me 2 days ago going to Best Buy to buy a PS5 Slim (disc version; they were out of normal PS5s) and ordering FF16 off Amazon (it was also out of stock at Best Buy, surprisingly)
Bro I tend to usually play cod, siege and fifa, I sometimes play the big games like god of war, Spider-Man, one of the boys told me to try the demo of this game, and literally I was hooked almost instantly literally fell in love with the game
I saved for months and bought a PS5 just so I could play this and VII Rebirth at launch. Needless to say I don't regret it at all. Man, I love Final Fantasy so much.
That guy in the beginning that was going on and on and on about XVI being garbage sounds exactly like TV reviewer dude that talked shit about Elden Ring (never even playing it). The similarity is striking, tbh. "Potions" caught me off-guard, btw 😂
Just finished those this game since it finally hit PC, and it's great. These people who complain are parroting their favorite UA-camr who complains for views. Anyone complaining about the side quests let's me know that they didn't actually play the game. I played the demo on PS5, knew about the rings and avoided them on my playthrough. The story was great, the gameplay and combat was okay, but I'll take it every time before turn-based. Ramuh was my most used Eikon. If Souls games were surefire hits, all of these games that came after Elden Ring would be winning... We need less of those not more.
Man, I hope you'd play FFXIV. Made by the same time but honestly, on a whole 'nother level, even compared to FFXVI! I'm talking specifically about Shadowbringers and Endwalker expansions. Easily the best story I experienced in gaming! Although FF14 gets amazing even as early as Heavensward. Even though base game ARR is super slow!
Higher thinking 🤔 Show me your theoph 🤔 So you are basically trophy ores. The ones that don't understand anything but want to Speed run also couldn't comprehend it. So a Casual that have fun But needs it's 2 cent heard... Kevin
I get the hype for XIV, after all beating daddy WoW at its own game requires a truly great game, but I just dislike MMOs for their genre. Or rather I hate the time sink, I'm not able to enjoy MMOs without spending either unhealthy amounts of time or unhealthy amounts of cash, so I avoid them. I played PSO2 for a decent while and I swear I'll never fall for the MMO bait ever again.
6:28 dont worry, the Clive Rosfield promotional meal will drop at McDonald's in time for the DLC. Ever wonder what Clive would eat at McDonald's? (hint: its not *not* a big mac with a medium fry)
Thank you. Just....you one of the real ones. And people complaining about a 'simple' battle system failed to see that that's not necessarily a bad thing! I think of it as learning bass guitar.
As a gamer who actually enjoys being up to date with releases and the industry, I already had plans of buying a PS5, but as an FF fan I HAD TO play FFXVI on launch, so yeah, I kinda bought the new Playstation for the new Final Fantasy. When Square announced XVI with the Awakening trailer back in that one State of Play, I was hooked, and every consecutive trailer just made it seem SO promising. I was as hyped as you could be for XVI, I would watch the trailers again and again, I hummed the music all the time. And when I actually played it achieved my expectations, even surpassed some. This game is so special to me, and Clive's journey of learning to forgive himself and finding purpose genuinely helped me when I was always struggling with self-hate. The hate for this game feels so forced. I can understand the hate for, XIII, XV, even VIII my favorite game, but XVI is on FFVI's level of cohesion and ecxelling at basically everything.
Also, the accessibility rings discourse is so stupid. You can just not use them y'know lol. The only one I used was the Torgal one, because my left hand just isn't good at inputing commands. As was pointed in the video VIIR literally had a "plays itself mode" and nobody complained
@@arrgber the decision of the devs to make the screen show if someone has the rings equipped was so genius because they knew some smartass would equip them and then try to show others the game is trash because it's just a one button mash, but those people didn't notice we could see it on their screen that they were using the rings. That was funny.
Some years ago I came to the conclusion that I would never tell someone that they are wrong for liking a video game. I think there is little value in stating that something is "overrated" as compared to something is "underrated". The first is a negative emotion it comes from a place of resentment and envy but the second comes from a place of joy and enthusiasm, wanting others to see with fresh eyes and giving them the opportunity to enjoy something for themselves. I enjoyed FF16. I was and am still a bit confused about the ring mechanic and understand that people have problems with it. But overall I enjoyed the ride, the story, the epicness (even tho sometimes I didn't saw what was going on on the screen anymore)
It's fine if you're debating someone you know on something's merits, but if you want to convince strangers that they're stupid for liking something you don't then you're better off going into politics lol.
The only assisting I equipped was the dodging one and the only time I ever actually had to use it was when I had like a boss in Garuda tornado I couldn’t see what the hell is going on
Interesting take on Final Fantasy XVI, fair enough! I played Final Fantasy XVI and for the most part, I enjoyed it. It looked amazing, the soundtrack was breathtaking, and I appreciated most of the voice acting. Maybe I am a simple person, but I could actually understand the game's story, from start to finish. Most Final Fantasy games tend to have overly incoherent narratives that just end up being confusing. I do feel that for title that was taking a more action-orientated approach, the combat felt a bit shallow. I very much enjoyed the boss battles, whether it was Clive, or Clive transformed into his Eikon counterpart, Ifrit, but fighting regular enemies felt repetitive. I do wish that the combat system was deeper, such as different techniques and combinations, weapon-types and fighting styles, to other additions such as elemental damage (using fire against an opponent that is weak to fire, for example), buffs, debuffs etc. In saying all this, the combat system was not "bad" by any means, it was certainly competent, but I would have loved to have seen more to it. Maybe I'm just an old person with bad eyes, but sometimes, the game looked so good and detailed, that I found it difficult to comprehend what was happening on screen. This for me was more noticeable during Eikon boss battles. As a fan of action games, I did not find XIV particularly hard, as in my 70-or-so-hour adventure, I only encountered the game over screen once. Is this a bad thing? Not necessarily. I love FROM Software games, such as Dark Souls II, III, Bloodborne, the Demon's Souls remake and especially Elden Ring, but just because I enjoy those games, does not mean I want every game I touch to be as challenging as the "Soulsborne" games. Some people play games to relax, unwind from reality, and enjoy a fictional story. I do appreciate that Square-Enix tried something new with XIV, and it boggles my mind that people became angry over XIV's direction. Personally, I think change is so important. We as individuals and even companies can't become stagnant, we can't just keep doing, or expecting, the same things over and over, otherwise we won't grow and learn. I also don't understand why people try to gatekeep a franchise, claiming that you are not a "true fan" if you don't enjoy only the old things of said franchise(s). As for the accessibility options... yes, I agree. I do not understand how or why people got angry about this. Who honestly cares if it makes the game easier? A person playing XIV on an "easier" way, will not hurt anyone, and it should not affect the experience of others. I question the emotional maturity of those who got upset over this feature. Anyway. Good video! Well done.
The combat is deep though, you're correct about the weapon type limitation though. We can do various combos and the eikon combinations let you basically swap class at will with unlimited respeccing from the abilities menu. I do hope the next one does have more choice, weapon choice and cosmetics really are the biggest weaknesses of XVI, but are minor failings overall. The only way to make combat vs mobs more engaging would be to give a stagger bar to every single enemy and that would just make the game too hard for most people.
@@admontblanc I disagree. I felt the combat system was shallow. If you believe the combat system was deep, that's all good. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm not saying you're wrong or right, but your opinion is appreciated. With Final Fantasy XVI, I found regular battles against enemies to become boring and repetitive. To me, it felt FFXVI was trying to be a more action orientated game like the new God of War games or Devil May Cry, but those games are quite vast when it comes to combat, including different weapon types, combination techniques, abilities, and the opportunity to switch weapons in real-time. It's quite seamless. Sure, in FFXVI, the protagonist Clive Rosfield gets access to the Eikon abilities, but you can only have or use so many Eikon abilities. While respeccing is available, this is also a bit of a timely process to rebuild your character. It was also disappointing to see that magic was so limited, and the combat didn't utilise any particularly strategies such as buffing of self, debuffing of enemies, using particular magic on enemies that might be a weakness (for example, using lightning-based magic on a water enemy) etc. The boss battles however, both Eikon battles and where you play as Clive on foot, were quite exciting, but fighting regular enemies felt the total opposite.
I love this FF. Is it my favorite (no). But, I do believe it is a good addition to the series. With that being said, here are my issues with the game. First they have pacing issues. They brought MMO side quest style to a single player game (not a good decision). Second, the had main quest that should have been side quest and they had side quest that should have been main quest. After you swap those out (you know which ones I am talking about) you can get rid of the rest of the side quest. They had a crap ton that was pointless and the reward was a crafting material that you already had like 500 of (which made it even more pointless). Last is you need to pick a lane. Ether be a RPG or be an action adventure. They could have fixed this by just making elements and status ailments during combat a thing. This would have brought a lot more strategy to combat and also would make weapons more important except just a power up in attack and or defense for armor. These things would have made it more of a RPG and would have been more faithful to FF. The other options would be to get rid of half the weapons and armor (have like only 6 or 7). Those six or seven weapons would have a different combat style (like a bow, axe, two handed sword, one handed sword and shield ect..). This would have leaned more into an action combat / action adventure. Everything else in the game I loved. Examples are that it has by far one of the best stories in all of the FF (Only two stories are better is 6 & 7). Also it has the second the best combat (I think FF7R has the best combat by far). Last, It does have the best score of all the FF. Great Game!!!
insta sub. finally someone with some clear eyes. I fear nostalgia and people looking for what they want rather than see the game for what it is, has done this game a huge disservice. 16 took my fav spot in the FF genre. Replacing 9. 16 is not perfect, but goddamn, the cast is one of the best. from joshua, to jill and gav. the story was so good, and is so final fantasy.
I’m glad someone likes this game, their are so many reviews with bad takes when this game to me is one of my favorite games of all time, the story is great, the characters arc for the main cast and the way they bounce off one and another, amazing music from different ranges giving different feeling in battle, combat is fun and has a lot of depth … a final fantasy game without an turn based system can still be a final fantasy game… and this game proves it… to me at least 😅
I hope to one day complete this game…I quit after the Titan battle. It was one of the most anticipated games for me that year. Despite all it did well, the part you deflected, rpg elements, was what did it for me. I love the stats and customization of weapons and armor (etc). The lack of this and the introduction of over flashy set pieces were not a big help imo. I love over the top set pieces btw (God of War, Bayonetta, etc) but yeah it lacked that good rpg mechanics substance for me.
I’m in the camp of keeping it (numbered FF) because final fantasy was meant to be ‘final’ the first time around and each iteration adds to that ‘final’ legacy. It does put some pressure and probably restriction in some cases (restriction of - it has to be bigger / badder each time, always a AAA) to the developers.
I liked it but the loot was pretty bad. Played on hard by accident and the only way to dispatch enemies was constantly using powers. Forging weapons and you dont get any elemental damage? That was disappointing. I hoped the intricate story with different armies would make us do some region assault/defense,chosing sides, managing armies and shit...sadly no.
Describing FFXVI as Power Metal is so goddamn accurate and funny I can't believe no one has stolen that line from you yet. Wow. Shoutout to Kamelot and their ridiculous, over-the-top brethren.
I agree with you about listing which ones one has played, but it kind of shows that a person has extensive experience with franchise, and so it helps the person when backing why they like or dislike a certain entry. So I'll just say I played enough of them to know what I like or not. XVI was everything I always wanted in FF to make me really care about the battles themselves. XII aside, of all the ones I played the only thing good about the combat was watching the cool animations of magic and summons. I cannot fathom the level of brainrot you need to have in order to think that this game, with these epic eikon battles, would've just been better with a turn-based combat system.
Thank you for a completely reasonable review! 99% of FF16 criticism, even in this very comment section, is whiny gamer babies disappointed that the game wasn't designed specifically for them. Rather than judge the game on its own merits, they either compare it unfairly to previous FF games or they complain that it doesn't have (some other feature) or do (some other genre) which would be completely out of scope for what FF16 actually is. It's like going to a Carl's Jr and being upset that they don't serve Cup Noodle.
I agree with most of what was said in this video. Except for the side quests being good. Some are awful, most are mid, a couple are good. Fighting goblin king number 23 or ice dragon number 12 does not really act as a counter point. Still 8.5 game for me.
This was a really good video that actually made me laugh a couple of times. I actually like 16 I prefer 10 or 12 but I literally can play those at anytime this game didn't erase the old ones people love so much.
If it's better than what I thought it was then it's a solid 6/10. To elaborate a bit, I think this game would've been better if they went full Devil May Cry instead of pretending to a be an RPG. The end result is a game that has great story, amazing cutscenes and excellent combat but everything else (that didn't need to exist) brings it down a lot. The open world is terrible with little to no exploration and tons of invisible walls, 90% of the side quests are boring, the dungeon level design is pathetic for a 2023 game, it's straight up Persona 3 dungeon from the PS2 days but better looking. The itemization and RPG elements are so streamlined that it has less depth than games that are considered action games with lite RPG elements like God of War and Assassin's Creed Odyssey. The time attack mode that unlocks after you beat the game is a better paced and condensed version of the game and I think it's actually a better experience overall.
Great vid, I just played through the demo on PC and liked it, I’ll snag this one when it goes on sale. Still have a BIG backlog that includes Armored Core 6, God of Wat and Hogwarts legacy just to name a few among maybe two dozen others. Or more!😅
You know I think we need to go after anyone that has to for some reason Classify themselves as a "Real Gamer". It's so painful hearing shit like that it just screams that the person ABSOLUTELY is a fucking waste of space and has no legitimate skills.
I have see these many hate videos, it meaningless all bullshit yelling and no proof constructive review why is bad mention by itself LOL they just wanna get view intention if the game is good, community will speak it self.
Guess why? They're literally shit opinions from a minority of retards whose only joy in life is finding the next thing to hate. These people don't even love themselves so how could they love a great game?
I'm glad that there are some people that enjoyed it. I instead took the advice and moved on. I just hope one day FF will come out with a game that'll appeal for the fans of the old games again. If not then just time to keep looking elsewhere.
2:40 - the criticism was that the game in the way he was playing (just hold a button 5o win) was like basically watching a cutscene, aka no user input really required.
It seems like whenever there is something that is actually good there will always be some of those who will try to find something in the game even if it is small & upload it to UA-cam & say this is why the game is bad without fully playing or testing it out before coming to their conclusion. Like seriously if you dislike the game just because it's not a turn base game any more than just say it, but don't make up some stupid reason as to why a game is bad than bash other players for actually liking such a game. Let them enjoy the game. It is just childish. Everyone has different tastes in food, video games, movies, etc. It is so annoying that this happens whenever a new game is release. So pretty much from now on until the end of time, any game that comes out will be bad if it is a good game to others while the games that are bad to other players & players who actually have evidence on why a certain game is bad will be a good game to those who like the bad games regardless of the evidence they show to back up why the game is bad. It is soo confusing. Even if that was the case, one small thing in a game does not make the game boring or bad. When I play a game I just want the good to outweigh the bad. If a video game does that then that small bad thing in the game won't be a problem for me. But if the game has more bad that outweighs the good then that is a huge problem. Simple as that. I feel like people who say stuff like this are either trying to rage bait & get a reaction from others because this has to be a complete joke when they talk like that.
This game is actually so good, but if you dont like a good story where you can't fight non stop without cutscenes, this may not be for you. unless you skip all cutscenes and dont care about what info the story is giving you.. There are epic fights if you dont use the newbie tools that the haters did.. without knowing they did apparently😂 it also cringes me how ppl disliking the game based on similarity to GOT. I thought GOT was the most watched tv show.. why hate a game similar to it if you like the tv show.. well now you can play a good game in a GOT like world .. and they are like FU. You made a shit game, this is game of thrones 😂same genre and being the exact same thing..that is not the same thing maaaan..
Thanks for sticking up for us people who genuinely really like the game and WANT to like it without people jumping down our throats with "tHiS iSiNt fInAl fAnTaSy" BS. 🙏
You can like what you want but I for one enjoy playing a lot of rgps/jrpgs and this game definitely isn't it. And another Problem is that every ff game was a decent rpg at least so its understandable that people are upset.
Subjectively this is my 10/10 GOTY, awesome graphics, cool aesthetic, cool enemies, amazing music, awesome characters, phenomenal voice acting, good satisfying combat, damn good story, lore, and world building. However, the level design was damn lack luster, zero exploration, no world interaction, felt like a bunch of hallways strewn together, beautiful but hollow. No big central hub, no equivalent of FF9's Alexandria for example, having Oriflamme, Rosalith, Ran'dellah, Kanver, Twinside, and/or Stonhyrr be entirely open walkable areas would've been insane, and not just battle stages in the cases of Rosalith, Twinside, Kanver, and Stonhyrr. Almost no RPG mechanics, game can hardly qualify as an RPG, there's no stat allocation and they don't really matter apart from Attack and Stagger, no resistances or weaknesses, no elemental system, uninspired and lack luster equipment, pity crafting system that is undervalued by abundant resources, and no party play at all, can't even choose companions, creating zero replayability value and incentive. Serious lack of summons outside of the big 8 (7) (Leviathan is DLC RIP) Not every summon has to be a massive powerhouse or be a new unlockable skill tree for Clive, they could've 100% implemented more and still fit the narrative, even if just for the fanservice. I mean, no Alexander or Knights of Round is criminal. There was a massive lack of real side content, which was a huge shame, but it's understandable given the nature of the game, it wouldn't really fit to have some wacky minigame or a Gold Saucer, but seriously, not even Chocobo racing?!? As for the questing and pacing, outside of the main quests, the supporting cast side quests, one or two important world building ones, and the few that unlock features, everything else was fluff that extended the game unnecessarily and really broke up the pacing of the game, leaving a sour dislike for doing any side quest no matter how good or important, in essence creating "low" points that could feel super tedious to play through. Despite all of this I love it, there's just something inexplicable about it that just really resonated with me, it took me back to a time of childhood amazement and awe, it stirred within me the same sense of wonderment I had as a kid, just in a more mature and relatable theme in relation to the philosophical and emotional struggles of the characters. Objectively I should rate this game a 6/10, but I love it! Hopefully Square Enix is encouraged to continue down this road of development, but with taking some of the genuine feedback to heart, so that they can make an even better experience and game next time around. The potential here is insane, they've built a good basis to go off, much like the first FF. It wasn't the generational sensation many were perhaps unrealistically hoping for, but it should be remembered and it should be shown the same love and admiration as every other title.
why has the most based gaming youtuber ever not blown up yet? cause he barely uploads! I know you probably got a life. But listen, gotta pump some stuff for the algorithm. You got an actual voice here, that's rare. Don't listen to the critics, they are not strong with the Maj0r Lee Force like I am.
Square Enix was going for a DMC style action game with FFXVI...I kinda wish they threw in some interesting platforming sections (since Clive can jump afterall) to make exploration a bit more memorable and interesting. Also, reduce the amount of size quests with more memorable and higher quality quests...where they reward you with better items. Otherwise, I think the game was fantastic.
to add on; I think the game needs some sort of party skill system. the fact that Clive can tell Torgal to heal him and not Jill or Joshua is a bit ridiculous. the game desperately needs interactivity with the party in a way that's meaningful. connecting to the characters and their journey is so difficult when they can't be controlled, can't be commanded, don't have health bars, and don't have anything going for them in menus. it's Call of Duty esque in my opinion and that's not great for this series. GTAV has more in depth statistics and skills for all three of it's main controllable characters, that could be switched between during gameplay.
@@MisterAlerion but to be fair, the only way for them to improve this is if Square has the guts and clarity to keep this combat system and polish it over future games.
So refreshing to watch a review of FFXVI that calls out all of these other needlessly negative reviews. The game is beautiful it doesn’t make sense people are calling it garbage… It’s one thing to not to like a game but to hate on it and anyone that plays it just because you didn’t enjoy it… That’s just sad…
Thanks man, I don;t get why ppl are so hard on this game - I love turn based RPGs so I got Octopath and Chained Echoes. How those games are designed are perfect for the genre as well as pulling on some nostalgic heartstrings. I played through the game three times, working on mastering a different strategy - like ''steel counter only'' and found that pretty difficult and extremely satisfying. I do wish there was a difficulty level between final fantasy and ultimaniac for the base game so I just challenged myself to use different Eikons that I normally wouldn't and I had a blast anyways. Thoroughly enjoyed the game, teared up at the ending... twice and got me into a story that I loved.
To be fair about the first dude who said FF16 is garbage (Young Defiant), although Idk that much about him, his videos are all him being a contrarian (for the sake of it) on a lot of well-beloved and positively reviewed Games and Anime. The FF16 one has him just echoing everything critics and fans have said against the game that doesn't go into deep in the specifics of the game and why it's not a "true FF game". I'm more convinced that his content is largely satirical and often flies over the people who stumble onto a video of his.
Final fantasy is so tied to my life from being a wee lad watching my mom play final fantasy 2 (4) to starting my first final fantasy 7 playthrough and thinking it was the most magical experience like I was going on the adventure with cloud and the gang. Final fantasy is the only series that's brought me to tears and made me so emotionally connected to what happens to the characters. Hell I remember even the music was so catchy that when I was a kid I heard the red wings flight song in final fantasy 4 but couldn't for the life of me remember where I had heard it from I would hum it for years till when I was an adult I decided to do playthroughs of all the classics and BOOM there it was immediately put it on a playlist and relistened to it over and over, ahhhhh good times when the world made sense. Will be here ride or die with final fantasy till I turn to ash. FF16 was just another banger in a long list of bangers.
Played this game after I completed the remake I'd say it's been a blast. It's a joke how some morons equip the assist rings then complain how easy the game was. 🤣🤣
I’ve never played an FF game, so, luckily I’m not a purist and I’ll get to experience this game with no bias. This game looks good tho.. if it came out 10 years ago it would probably be listed as one of the greatest of all time and everyone would be saying “why can’t we go back to FF16?”
Accessibility Rings are not only for changing the difficulty… but also assisting people where accessibility options are actually needed. It’s not hard to imagine how someone with a disability would appreciate such considerations.
Its not to understand why it ruins the impact, appeal and reward for almost the entire audince that do not need it. There is also inable catering to those that actually want a challenge...
FF16 side quests were boring as hell. The reason being that 99% of them are either given by complete strangers or people you know pretty much nothing about, so I couldn't give a rat's ass about any of them. My biggest issue with the game is the lack of Playable Characters/Party Members. So cut the crap with "knowing more about the world". Also the lack of major cities and hometowns for the characters. All you have here are just some villages or towns that are lackluster. Golden Age games like FF6,7,8,9,10 had a huge roster of characters with each having a deep backstory and most if not all side quests were about them. So we had a reason to care. Here It's just one guy, Clive ! other characters barely contribute to the combat. Also, their stories are never really fleshed out. We know absolutely nothing about Jill, other than being a childhood friend. Literally everything else about her is told via superficial exposition, never showing anything. Same thing can be said about literally every character or villain in the game. All of them are bland and uninteresting. And many appear literally out of nowhere. Like Mid or Vivian or.......... Also, ever since (Game of Thrones) what is this odd trend with having a "Hodor" in a game or series !? I'm referring to the big guy Goetz.
If you paid attention you'd know the people giving you the quests... You just weren't invested in the story. Proving it by saying that you don't know anything about Jill or 99% of the quest givers. You also expected capital cities when they were all destroyed except a few where the dominants you encounter are. Crazy to see people double down.
My biggest issue of this game is how boring some quests are between the epic eikon battles, and also the fact that is way too easy, like titan and bahamut battle looks so badass but also no brain is required which i think is lame. What is the point of the square/r1 cinematic cutscenes? And why we re forced to go back to the hideout every time we finish a boss only to talk with the same npc for hours. Its a torture
exactly the pacing ruined the game. Before the time skip it seemed good, so not sure why it was like "you want to spend most of your time doing boring stuff now right?"
I’ve always liked your reviews and I like this one, too. I just don’t care for the game. Pretty game, but exhausting. Going from one boss fight to another with no down time or smaller fights just is too much like work.
thank you for this video. this game is great. i dont understand the hate it gets. they make the game easier because ff useed to be turn based and a lot of those people cant play action games and dont really care to try. they just want the story
people bitched about the boss fights in this. man they were so cool! narrative driven but isnt that why were playing? the classic games are not hard turn based are easy. (triangle strategy was hard)
15 to many is superior still in many ways so much in variety and party characters I get the 15 stigma with the story but 15 made me feel like I had a family with the boys ! 16 is for sure the better flashy combat , but it still falls short by the middle of the story I wanted it to end the lack of party member and Dialogue between Clive and Jill or just anyone made me feel like Clive was just alone even thought he wasn’t I just finished 16 . Also this ultima mythos thing worked better in dissidia. And the enemy variety is wackadoodle 15 had huge bosses hunts and plenty of dungeons this had zero the side quests where so boring and lack luster I remember fighting the big ass Turtle in 15 and being like oh shit here it was like awe this ain’t it
"Show me your trophies?" - My man thinks adults who work 40h+ has as much free time as his lazy ass. I beat like, 3 games a year (in a good year). I bought a PS5 just to play it and... it's okay. I've just reached the "5 years later" part and the game is fine. The combat is dull, the customization is weak, but the story is okay, the characters are actually quite nice and the world is somewhat interesting. It's a decent game. I had a lot more fun with FF15 (that game was da bomb), FF16, however, is just alright. Notthing outstading, but it's been fine enough to keep me playing it until now. It's okay.
Literally bought my ps5 specifically to play this game.
No regrets it was everything I hoped it would be.
I was so close doing that!
But well... anyways, now it's coming to PC next week and I can't wait. Never thought I would be able to play it that early. I expected 2 years at least. Idk how I dodged spoilers, but I will play this nearly blind and I am so hyped!
Well your cost was sunk fully so you had to love it. Or you blew 600.
@@phant0mdummyLOL
@@shakoro_rezz3713we are lucky bro. The pc port is amazing! I just beat the demo last night and nothing can stop me from buying the full game today!
I would never, I specifically ignored all about it until it got the PC releasse date announced. But god damn do I understand the temptation. Sony should be paying out massive royalties to Square just for the sheer number of PS5s they have sold on the back of this game.
“Show me your trophies bruh!”
Will use it in my next job interview just to show how cool and capable I am. Just like that dude who said it. Let’s hope it goes well🤞🏻
🤦🏻♂️
Even the little things like Cid being the dominant of Ramuh and Benedikta the dominant of Garuda where thunder and wind were weaknesses to each other in previous games. Clive being Fire, Jill being Ice. Those story pieces are little but they add to the entirety of the story.
I went through this weird thing with FF XVI where I was excited for the release. . .loved the first chunk of my playthrough. . .grew disappointed by it. . .then months after, looking back on it, really loved it again. It's just so cool, conceptually.
Same I loved the intro then it got boring then I beat it and loved the story
It just boils down to “fans” just wanting another FFVII over and over and over again. This game was a masterpiece and the fact that FFVII Rebirth has to stand up against XVI is really cool. This is easily Top 3 FFs for me.
Or they want a JRPG it doesn’t have to be another FFVII you know
@@GATXShinGundam FFXVI is literally a JRPG through and through.
Cap bro 16 was god of war lol yes epic set pieces but weak ass rpg at this point 15 was more of a jrpg then this think about it
How is ff16 a jrpg with no actual RPG elements into it. Man y'all are ruining this franchise
I cried to that song cuz it reminded of one anime I can’t remember at the moment but it hit a hidden spot in the brain
Holy shit, I had forgotten already about this channel and that it was my favorite 😂

You don't need to watch it. I appreciate the comment either way. 👍

Haven't even watched this and it's already the best thing I've seen lately just because it's major lee
Glad to see you still posting stuff
👊
I love how you took the piss out of Young Defiant at the beginning😂
That guy in the beginning that was going on and on and on about XVI being garbage sounds exactly like TV reviewer dude that talked shit about Elden Ring (never even playing it). The similarity is striking, tbh.
"Potions" caught me off-guard, btw 😂
Dude, I just found you, and I was fucking dying laughing. You sir, have earned a loyal follower!!!
Hes back!
He's back!..... But for how long?
Till the next video😅 The man works 9-5 dude.
3:47 um actually it’s IV-X. Final Fantasy V is masterpiece on the level of Dragon Quest III and Dragon Quest V.
14:06 Gav is the GOAT. Definitely the Real One of the whole game.
That one “real gamer” is like a living breathing example of the Dunning Kruger Effect.
6:28 dont worry, the Clive Rosfield promotional meal will drop at McDonald's in time for the DLC. Ever wonder what Clive would eat at McDonald's? (hint: its not *not* a big mac with a medium fry)
It’s chocobo nuggets and a dog-burger
the gatekeeping tryhards will hate on this game because they refuse to move on. this game is awesome.
Thank you. Just....you one of the real ones. And people complaining about a 'simple' battle system failed to see that that's not necessarily a bad thing! I think of it as learning bass guitar.
I did slap the shit out of my controller while playing this...so yeah, you're right.
4 month hiatus pays off
As a gamer who actually enjoys being up to date with releases and the industry, I already had plans of buying a PS5, but as an FF fan I HAD TO play FFXVI on launch, so yeah, I kinda bought the new Playstation for the new Final Fantasy.
I love your videos! Now I wanna play!
You should play and cover FF Stranger Of Paradise! Underrated!
College Sex Party is game of the year by far.
PC player here, on Steam the game has near unanimous praise. Almost all the complaints are nitpicks, which is a good sign.
One thing we needed more of from 15 was flying cars. That was so fun
It has felt like years since you last uploaded
I’m in the camp of keeping it (numbered FF) because final fantasy was meant to be ‘final’ the first time around and each iteration adds to that ‘final’ legacy. It does put some pressure and probably restriction in some cases (restriction of - it has to be bigger / badder each time, always a AAA) to the developers.
end credits song is pure perfection!
What game is at 00:57-00:58? Why don't I recognize it

How did you play on hard by accident? You literally have to beat the game before you unlock hard
Describing FFXVI as Power Metal is so goddamn accurate and funny I can't believe no one has stolen that line from you yet. Wow.
Shoutout to Kamelot and their ridiculous, over-the-top brethren.
If it ever comes to my current Xbox console, I'll try it. Until then, I'll just appreciate this video.
He's back
I agree with you about listing which ones one has played, but it kind of shows that a person has extensive experience with franchise, and so it helps the person when backing why they like or dislike a certain entry.
Alright, you convinced me to get and play it
If it's better than what I thought it was then it's a solid 6/10.
I have see these many hate videos,
it meaningless all bullshit yelling and no proof constructive review why is bad mention by itself LOL
they just wanna get view intention
if the game is good, community will speak it self.
UA-cam algorithm. Hate content gets pushed to the front page.
Guess why? They're literally shit opinions from a minority of retards whose only joy in life is finding the next thing to hate. These people don't even love themselves so how could they love a great game?
Ever heard of homing missiles? It's homing not honing in on...
I'm glad that there are some people that enjoyed it. I instead took the advice and moved on. I just hope one day FF will come out with a game that'll appeal for the fans of the old games again. If not then just time to keep looking elsewhere.
Totally respectable point of view. If they don't do it, you know someone will.
2:40 - the criticism was that the game in the way he was playing (just hold a button 5o win) was like basically watching a cutscene, aka no user input really required.
I grew up on 1-9 and bought a PS5 just for the game.
It's incredible and it blew my mind that people were like "it's not even Final Fantasy"
God tier thumbnail
Lol, it's worth noting you also loved Ghost Recon Breakpoint.
He did lol? Oh this man’s tastes are garbage LMAO - glad I didn’t subscribe
really love this game and for the people that say it isn't final fantasy it litteraly is on the disc.
I wish someday we will get a Lego Final Fantasy game.
Another great review!
This game is actually so good, but if you dont like a good story where you can't fight non stop without cutscenes, this may not be for you.
unless you skip all cutscenes and dont care about what info the story is giving you..
There are epic fights if you dont use the newbie tools that the haters did.. without knowing they did apparently😂
it also cringes me how ppl disliking the game based on similarity to GOT. I thought GOT was the most watched tv show.. why hate a game similar to it if you like the tv show.. well now you can play a good game in a GOT like world .. and they are like FU. You made a shit game, this is game of thrones 😂same genre and being the exact same thing..that is not the same thing maaaan..
If you don't care about story, why would you play Final Fantasy?
It's almost like people don't know what they like.
It’s Ass this game is ass it’s not a final fantasy - cope harder
I felt that part about Blitzball in my soul.
Screw the algorithm. Some channels are more appreciated and have A++content when they don’t upload themselves into oblivion
@@jexmarro9 not asking for oblivion. Just not once every 4-5 months.
thank you for making this! i love this game!
I did get a couple migraines. But it was from all the lights and shit during a couple boss battles after playing for a long time lol
The game is beautiful it doesn’t make sense people are calling it garbage…
It’s one thing to not to like a game but to hate on it and anyone that plays it just because you didn’t enjoy it… That’s just sad…
I hate that you don't have access to Clive's prior in-game skins. Like WTF?
When it’s on PC I will care, but until then I gotta lots of other games to play atm.
Here with you friend!
Thanks for sharing that. It's a good example of the magic of Final Fantasy.
@@leelustig Thanks major 🫡 keep making the bangers yourself here for every single one.
I’m glad you made this video. Well said.
Played this game after I completed the remake I'd say it's been a blast. It's a joke how some morons equip the assist rings then complain how easy the game was. 🤣🤣
Honestly can’t get enough of this game
I’ve never played an FF game, so, luckily I’m not a purist and I’ll get to experience this game with no bias. This game looks good tho.. if it came out 10 years ago it would probably be listed as one of the greatest of all time and everyone would be saying “why can’t we go back to FF16?”
10 years ago you would've needed a $10k PC to play this on medium settings though...
My criticism is never towards people it’s only ever towards the product and FF16 was a piss poor product to say the least.
The guy who made this video is literally part of the problem
Most sidequests in ffxvi are pretty shit fi your doing the hunts
first seconds of the video i saw octopath 2, love you lee
Final fantasy 10 and 16 were the only ones I enjoyed personally
Accessibility Rings are not only for changing the difficulty… but also assisting people where accessibility options are actually needed. It’s not hard to imagine how someone with a disability would appreciate such considerations.
Its not to understand why it ruins the impact, appeal and reward for almost the entire audince that do not need it. There is also inable catering to those that actually want a challenge...
It's the worst Final Fantasy ever made. It was an ok game. I'm glad I'm done with it.
You honestly believe final fantasy 2, 3, 13, and 15 are better than this game? Give me a break
@Erikthedood absolutely. 100%. 15, 13, 16 are all trash. 16 isnt even repayable. People aren't even talking about it anymore. People still play 1-10.
Sad about the smaller games tho. Love a localized Japanese game that wouldn’t make it otherwise
They are making plenty of smaller RPGs. Also I would say that Final Fantasy started being big with Final Fantasy III.
I think 16 replaced 9 as my favorite. And 9 had held that place for me since 2001
Great review!!
I’ve always liked your reviews and I like this one, too. I just don’t care for the game. Pretty game, but exhausting.
Going from one boss fight to another with no down time or smaller fights just is too much like work.
That is a fair point of view. I don't think you actually need medical treatment...unless you're suffering from exhaustion after playing this.
thank you for this video. this game is great. i dont understand the hate it gets. they make the game easier because ff useed to be turn based and a lot of those people cant play action games and dont really care to try. they just want the story
they totally stole GOT but im here for it thats the best tv show ever
people bitched about the boss fights in this. man they were so cool! narrative driven but isnt that why were playing? the classic games are not hard turn based are easy.
And the enemy variety is wackadoodle 15 had huge bosses hunts and plenty of dungeons this had zero the side quests where so boring and lack luster I remember fighting the big ass Turtle in 15 and being like oh shit here it was like awe this ain’t it
Great vídeo, great Channel 👍
It's okay.
