The funniest parts of the streams were when it's been 40 minutes of boring dialogue, then once you finally get control back. Immediately another 20 minute cutscene about nothing.
Skill Up is amazing in what he's doing, but he purposefully avoids any woke related topics, like that the entire industry has become anti straight white male centric, just like the film industry, but he never acknowledges any of that, which really annoys me.
While I may not agree with most of your points on your videos, I appreciate the existence of a channel who is willing to speak their mind without worrying about what most people think.
Most anti-trend youtubers express controversial opinions to get views. Synthetic Man is honest even to a fault at times. Hard not to like the guy considering how close to a regular dude he seems to be and not just some clout chasing gen-z moron.
I’m also staggered that there are eight different unique elements and yet not a single mechanic for elemental affinity, or difference in spells. Fire doesn’t cause DoT, wind doesn’t lift, lightning doesn’t chain, ice doesn’t freeze, dark doesn’t blind, stone doesn’t stagger or petrify etc.
@Evanz111 Yeah it's weird. Testing out each element's charged projectiles, they all do the same exact damage number to enemies. Why even have all these different elements if none of them have unique properties. No affinities or option to exploit enemy resistance at all. Why is there not a burn meter filling up when I'm doing fire combos? Am ice meter should be slowing enemies down. Darkness should be making an enemy attack itself and/or other enemies in combat.
Bro Maximilian Dood kept shilling for this 🚮 game just because he got a sponsorship, meet the developers and went to a concert with them. 😂 So he kept trying to make people in his fanbase to buy it. But when people told him the game sucks he kept saying it’s fun but now in a recent stream he says he won’t play that game again or he won’t play the new dlc for it because he didn’t really like it.😂
@@StriderZessei I hear that about their sales goals, but no, it’s objectively very bad. It’s nearly 1.3m less sales than remake, and after the reception of rebirth…. Part 3 is shaping up to be another huge loss in sales.
You know , back then were cutscenes in games like a reward for the tough gameplay but nowadays its the opposite. You are rewarded with gameplay after you watched huge amounts of cutscenes. . Gaming is totally screwed .
If Skillup was right then we truly are living in the darkest of times! Tbh I’m getting tired of Sony’s interactive movie games. Not everything needs a ten minute exposition cutscene. Just let me play!
I don't think lore, in and of itself is an issue, I'd even argue that extremely well thought out and compelling world building is nothing but a benefit. Rather, I think how "lore" is used by modern writers is the real problem. When used correctly, it functions like fries in a fast-food order. Ideally it slots in seemlessly with your burger and drink, and after you're done your meal, you might find some fries at the bottom of the bag - a little extra treat you weren't expecting. The way modern writers tend to use it is like a crutch or a bandaid for incompetent writing. They make bad creative decisions and try to excuse them by pointing to something outside of the story as justification. Take Destiny for example. It basically put the key points of its story on a bloody website instead of the actual game. If your story requires material outside of itself to make sense, then it's a bad story. Go rewrite it.
Agreed. I think lore is best when it is set dressing for a story, not the story itself. FFX had all of its lore delivered practically without the need for menus and such. The world had history in FFX but you were shown this in the level design. Tidus asked the same questions the player would likely want to ask, and the rest could be found organically by talking to NPCs. You only got as much lore as you needed to understand what was happening, and the delivery of that lore was tight and scaled with your level of interest to seek it out. Too many contemporary stories spend way too much time including everything possible in any way they can, text or no. It becomes boring.
@@12ealDealOfficial A perfect example of game writers/devs being beyond retarded is Destiny 2, where the lore of the game is absolutely god-tier, with really interesting scenes and shit going on that is nowhere even CLOSE to what is going on in the main stories or side content, I don't know how this happens but in most large scale world games there's a ton of super super interesting lore, but the actual main plot or side content is absolutely mind numbingly boring
Correct and justified. Destiny (rather, Bungie) did a horrible job of incorporating lore when it was necessary. I love Destiny but it is a severely flawed franchise (not that fans will ever admit that).
You are not "too hard on modern video games" Modern gaming has become cancer. Honestly, I don't mind long cutscenes (as long as the gameplay is there). But, the story is not worth slogging through it anymore...
@@dib327 sadly everything has been doomed. I'm just taking off the rose colored glasses. I watched as gaming plummeted from the richness of fallout 1/2, system shock, original bioshock, prince of Persia (for those platform lovers. I don't), new vegas, battlefield 2, diablo 2 original, and so forth. Younger kids only by 10 years but enough to not have played or experienced these games always get uppity when people criticize modern gaming. Just like the film industry, gaming has taken a major fall. No more originality, risk taking, or heart put into games. Everything is now streamlined for the average moron who thinks mobile games make him a gamer. The industry wants to appeal to everyone and creates a mediocre, banal product.
A great thing the Yakuza series does is having Control over the pacing of the story, don't want to continue the main story? Try exploring the city for some side activities, then you find a side story organically by you deciding to explore rather than getting some NPC giving you a waypoint to start another slow paced cutscene that you can't skim through because it's voiced.
@jAK73 Yakuza games pretty much have non existent level design. The combat and AI. Has barely evolved since the Ps2 original, save U7's repetitive Diet Dragon Quest combat. These are hard facts. Tell me you just got into Yakuza games, without telling me.
I seriously miss turn-based RPGs. Even though the systems were the result of technical limitations, they had this unique thrill and level of suspense that real time action games can't quite replicate. Battles were almost like puzzles, with the added benefits of nail-biting tension and glorious spectacle. EDIT: I'm not arguing that the original turn-based RPG formula was flawless. Of course it had issues; the most obvious of which were excessive grindiness and random encounters. I doubt anyone believes these mechanics were a net positive. I'm simply stating that, when at their best, turn-based RPG battles could be pulse-pounding games of cat-and-mouse mixed with chess. I personally haven't played a real-time action game that truly manages to give me that same feeling. Not even "Combat Puzzle" games like Doom Eternal.
At least _this_ game finally commits to being a proper action game, with DMC style combat. That feels like a *massive* improvement over decades of god-awful action/menu hybrids which were always clunky and terrible (I'm looking at you: FF7 Remake). I'm like you: I never had an issue with turn-based RPGs. I also like DMC/Platinum action games. What I could never abide was the middle ground.
For the record, the "negativity" of your videos aren't bad. It's better to know exactly what's wrong with a game than sugercoat its flaws, shout mindless praise, and unconditionally give it a score of 9 or higher.
Plus, there is just less to say when discussing positives. You can describe the combat, and then say it's good. Okay. It's the mistakes that actually generate commentary and criticism, even if it's mostly good.
i dont know sometimes its overblown. I love his videos but when he came at legend of zelda i was like cmon that game is AMAZING., yes there was ALOT of zeldas story etc but it was so good i did not care. There are some games you cant even say were awful even though he did not at all say it was awful but he went negative on a few points.
I miss Gears of War: Funny and engaging characters sharing banter between each other while completely still immersed in gameplay. Cool weapons (the torque bow) great graphics, great in game set pieces. Man, online was incredible to. Gaming is dead.
Tbh , i prefer more variation in game genres , writing-styles and focused tones/atmossphere/themes instead of "bring back that one thing to milk it harder till its insufferable again " -approach. The problem is the trends shouldnt dominating design-philosophies because thats why we end up with gaming that we got today . If gaming should improve after this woke-pocalypse then it should have much more variety of game-designs and approaches instead generalising everything into few samey genres . You know what reasonable people say :" Variety is the spice of life ."
I'm tired of games being more movie than games. I was replaying the Witcher 3 from beginning and I forgot how slow the beginning was. Still great, but I've lost my patience with super long story games.
Feels like only yesterday you dropped your last video! Happy to see the more frequent uploads. I know you mentioned you weren't sure how people might react to your slightly revised editing style, but I can tell you it's still spot on.
Things that would help the game imo. Adding in more sword combos like dmc, making the chocobo a reward for main story missions so people don’t miss it, make torgul combat automatic, some skins, better side quest rewards, just to name a few
it was ok. the story is extremely boring and the characters are aswell. the gameplay is good tho. but if they're putting so much story into the game, and even voice at some of it, make a great story. FFXVI has a bit too many cutscenes but at least the story is great, just like the gameplay. also its not even "a classic FF game". its literally braverly default with different graphics, stop fooling yourself.
We need a Trepang2 review. Just enough story to take you from fight to fight with some of the most visceral and enjoyable gunplay ever designed. Gameplay is king.
@@yirawls Approaching 2000 reviews in 1 week on Steam (still overwhelmingly positive) is quite good for an indie + it's not too far down the top sellers list. Gman's Trepang video is almost at half a mil views in 8 days. More views than some of his 6 month old videos for bigger games. I think it would be great to see a "rapid review" style video for some indies that deserve attention, "focus on fun", and don't have an agenda. 0 pozzed ESG "woke" garbage. Everything was there...i am so mad....hard to rate, some things are a 10 or 9, many a 7 but a lot of 0s too since it simply is missing. No Party, no loot, i did not even collect anything shiny, for what. Gosh so mad
18? They you skipped through most of the story bro, So side quests, Yeah at start they felt like boring but as you follow through they get better, You also get Permanent upgrades of it. Though I am considering getting this game, I do like that you don’t shy away from being honest and giving us your upfront takes on media that is hyped up to hell and back. It helps me to temper my expectations when trying out new things, people give you crap for it, but if anything I want more channels to be candid with their content and tell me if something sucks or not.
Most people are controlled by confirmation bias - they just want their preconsived notions approved. On the other side of that is cognitive dissonance. For a lot of people it's a very unplesent feeling so they attack/discredit/ignore anyone who chalanges their biases. I just wander what will they say once the hypy dies down. FF13 was praised after launch as well, now it's considered the black sleep of the series😂
@@SimonGreyGhoston the other side media is also full of people that wants to just hate on stuff, it's not a one way road. I love this game and it's not due to recency bias. There is certain things that could have been improved but as a whole I'm having more fun with this than most modern games out there and that's coming from someone that spent more time in multiplayer games than single player games.
There is another guy just as jaded as he is: WorthaBuy. These two are pretty spot on in terms of highlighting flaws in games and not caring about the rest of society and what it thinks it cool. For games to truly advance we have to identify biases. Only a few reviewers are good at it. SKill up is pretty good but there is that feeling that as a channel gets more popular the move away from being cynical and more friendly to industry people starts to creep up. This is the path of most youtube people who rely on this as their main income. This is why corporate side to gaming pisses me off. At some point everyone turns into access media guy that is not self aware of the corruption. These giant companies need kick in the butt to remind them we want gaming to advance not stay stagnant. And the bigger the game industry gets the more corporate it gets and the more greedy and powerful it gets which allows them to ignore real criticism. (they reach the "too big to fail" status and don't give a sh1t if the product is bad because so many young people will still buy the stuff regardless. EA is perfect example of that)

I don't know why people constantly desire to conflate unwillingness to watch cutscenes with short attention span. When i play game i want to play, not watch .
I don't mind cutscenes. They're necessary when you want characters to interact in ways that aren't possible through in-game gameplay. But there needs to be a proper ratio with gameplay being dominant. These days it doesn't feel like that with a lot of games. Hades for example tells the story through gameplay
I didn't appreciate FF12 until I played the Zodiac edition on PS4. The world building and scope was amazing. Now I just want another "jrpg" with a system similar to the gambit system. Grinded for hours on end while tweaking the gambits. Couldn't even finish FF15.

The only reason lore exists is so that cringe UA-camrs like Vatti can make hundreds of videos like "xxxx explained", "prepare to xxx", "The complete timeline of xxx", "xxx is deeper than you thought, here is why", "The philosophical themes behind xxx"
Lore has existed in games decades before UA-camrs were even a thing lol. It's purpose is to add extra detail to the world in addition to the main narrative of the game's story. UA-camrs just found a way to capitalize on it by making those videos.

@@arkeshn729 Yep the remaster faces are pretty bad. Their excuse is that they wanted the faces to look more like how they looked in the cinematics, not something that wasn't possible in the PS2 era but of course this then made them look like different characters. I'd prefer it to just be all turn-based or all non-turn based and no special modes. Parallel mechanics take dev time away from everything else. And of course a classic mode won't have the same depth and attention to detail as if the game was built completely around turn-based combat.
Even if I don't agree with all your points on games I have to say you very entertaining and I am never bored with your videos. You are very underrated and I hope you continue to grow.
This is what I was afraid of. I can't believe they actually slapped the XVI on this and made it part of the mainline series. FF has traditionally offered so much more, with compelling casts, and side quests that actually felt important. They should have labeled this as a spin off. Even then, the sheer amount of cutscenes would still be a problem, especially in an action game.
that's actually hilarious. i was watching an asmongold stream and he was playing this game, i only watched like 30min and instantly knew i wont buy this. cutscene after cutscene.
I watched someone play the game and it literally took only few minutes to understand how bad the game really is. People seem to buy these game because of the title alone. Its like they don't even care about the gameplay.
and of course the blind idiot didnt even watched the video and is spouting horseshit. its clear that you are parroting other opinions, its pathetic and sad (no, its actually funny, like every clown is).
Call me a 25 year old boomer but games truly used to be better in the past, all of the AAA shit we get nowadays is worth fuck all, and we hardly get any lower budget games anymore. And indies sure as fucking hell don't fill that gap/hole.
The writing in this game is laughably awful. One second the guy is saying "shit" and "fuck" and the next he's talking like he's out of Shakespeare. It's sad how low a brand like Final Fantasy has fallen. Not even a RPG anymore...
As someone who agrees with most of your gaming takes, this is still a game I'll buy. I don't mind that this is a movie game, because the XIV devs can write some phenomenal fantasy stories and Soken is an amazing composer. Plus they are the biggest devs in the market that love Yasumi Matsuno's work (Vagrant Story, FF: Tactics).
Lmao absolute fucking shill. Story of XVI is garbage. I've met Nobuo and I have an FF tattoo. I have beaten every game from 1-10, and 12-15. Your god Yoshi P is trash and so is 14 and 16. Stop sucking his dick.
I cannot believe I'm saying this, but Final Fantasy XV is way more Final Fantasy than this game. You have party members you can command and control, different types of weapons, an MP system, status ailments, phoenix downs, enemies with various weaknesses and strengths, better value in exploration, summons you can actually SUMMON!, etc. All the things this game doesn't have. XV is still very mid, but XVI makes XV look like a masterpiece in comparison. I almost regret selling it now, and I only sold it because of Stranger of Paradise coming out and being way better than both of these games. I mean, you talk about the lack of a combo meter in XVI which I think is a fatal flaw in it's combat system, XV HAS A COMBO METER, and it actually rewards you by increasing your damage more output the longer you kept it up, which is what this game desperately needs.
Final Fantasy 7 Time to beat: 37 hours Cutscenes: 14 hours FF16 Time to beat: 32 hours Cutscenes. 17 hours (Gamersprey) FF7 is considered the best of all time. FF 10 46 hours, 10 hours cutscenes MGS4 is considered a masterpiece, many cutscenes, just like TLOU. It´s nothing new, just more talked about.
@@NewSorpigal1 doesn´t have cutscenes? are you kidding me? Stop being a hater, fanboy or whatever you are. scenes in which you don´t control a character are considered a cutscene here. you think FF16 has 20 hours of CGI scenes?? And 10 hours talking scenes + 2 hours playtime? wtf are you smoking?
Do you really expect synthetic "ADD" man to pay attention at all? That dude is more cynical than my 80 year old grandpa and i thought it was impossible.
That's...not an explanation of why he was screaming like a maniac. If I started accusing you of adultery, and then justified it because I just stubbed my toe...yeah, that doesn't actually explain why I'm doing what I'm doing. That was cringey overacting and nothing else.
When i played this game, this is the first game in my life where i legit skipped cutscenes and it didn't even matter because that cutscene i just skipped was just filler and had nothing to do with the story
What’s crazy about this and Forspoken is that Squeenix was aiming for the western/American market with both releases. I think it’s speaks more to how Japan sees America and what America is exporting than anything else lmao.
To be fair they set out to make a FF game aimed at zoomers and the larger demographic of the market (redditors) and this is flawless in that regard. Of course, that means making a bland moviegame but hey they achieved what they wanted.
Skill up is shitting on the game cuz it's not woke enough dude, you hear 1 reviewer giving ff16 the stick for not having black people, and suddenly the game has flaws now in thier eyes, yes both of you have the same reasons to hate the game but do you really think his was gonna be thier review if ff16 was "inclusive" enough?
I still recommend this game. It's one of those game that could make or break depending on whether you are invested in the characters or story or not. For me it's very engaging, haven't found a game this engaging for years, better than the new Gow ragnarok and last of us 2. Am surprised by it in a good way.
Absolutely. I quite enjoyed the combat, mostly as a DMC fan, games like this are usually easy. It's getting Super Sexy Style which is the hard part. (Or at least looking that good)
"It's all in reverse now. Back in the day, in the PlayStation 1 era the CGI cutscenes was well received and appraised because two things: the spectacle factor and by giving context to the story. Gameplay was (and still is) the king and as such it was treat just like that. Now, you must to bear with the broken, nonsensical, subpar anime/manga writing to be able to play the damn game. And that if the gameplay is good enough to worth that time. Like you said: the save the best bits to the demo, baiting enough people to later delivers the kick in your gaming ballz. This can possibly be the final nail in the Final Fantasy franchise, thanks for the lack of touch from the Square-Enix suits. What shame."
I really enjoyed this game. And I usually can't stand games with long cut scenes. And yes, there are WAY too many cut scenes that go on for far too long. That is definitely true. But the bosses are insanely good in this game. A lot of them are very cinematic, but I really enjoyed them personally.
It's a very PS2 era feeling cinematic action like the original GOW series mixed with MGS length cutscenes, complete with an edgy and brooding male protagonist and over the top bad guys. It's honestly a breath of fresh air in comparison to the other cinematic action slop with ESG crap we've been getting.
Yes, this is exactly what I was expecting you to say about the game. I have played the demo and my initial reaction was exactly the same as yours overall opinion on the game. Meanwhile all the soyboys are either crying for lack of diversity or calling this game the GOTY. It's pretty mid game. Night buy it one day when it becomes 20 bucks eventually, but that's about it.
I thought this story was pretty good, enough to move from Demo -> Purchase in the same week. But I get the criticisms of this game, I just happen to enjoy my experience so far.
I didnt mind the mix of goofy and dark, that s why I love 7, and many other japanese stuff. Yet I knew the man wouldn't bear that. Though compared to GoW square didnt indulge too much into woke bullshit which is refreshing.. Also I think some of the epicness of late game is unmatched, cutscenes and eikon battles. But he won't know.. FF have always been about twisted narrative, this fits this era of "movie game type. Maybe not the gamer experience but compared to watching Netflix, I think it's fair. 7 remake felt quite the same, with the added value of playing with existing lore. Rebirth got me hyped just based on story.
I enjoyed the demo so I think I might buy it to decide for myself. I have to take Synths take with a grain of salt because I enjoy lots of things he hates.
I agree. Even though i tend to dislike the sony story walking simulator type games this one i somehow really like. It might just be the s tier voice acting and decent (as far as ive played) writing
Brevity is the soul of wit and FFT was the master at this, hardly any of its cutscenes last for longer than 5 mins but it says everything it needs to while maintaining a dark tone (not that it really matters). FF16 is the complete opposite and the story isn't good enough like it is in FF14's later xpacs to justify the cutscene spam.
Almost every aspect of this game is terrible. Some of the music is really good but the combat is antiquated, exploration and weapon upgrades are boring, I never experienced any bugs but the game just feels cheap. If you absolutely fucking hate final fantasy, you'll love ff16
Definitelty agree with your take on lore. I shouldn't be expected to read a bunch of outside resources they release after the fact just to make sense of a game's messy storyline.
You dont need to use the lore thing. Its just there for a reminder. The cast talk about what they are doing and why. The side quests, while a slog, do flesh out the world more.
I didn’t read any lore and i understood it perfectly… maybe you’re just stupid. You also literally have the active lore function which is an ingame source
Massively enjoyed the game. That being said, I can see it's flaws. I feel like if the story doesn't suck you in within the first few hours there probably is nothing here for you. I enjoyed the gameplay but there are more intricate engaging action combat systems out there. DMC, Bayonetta and Nier to name a few. Again I really enjoyed the game but it's not a surprise toe it's polarising.
@@ExtremeMan10 Sales doesn’t equal quality but to be more specific, Uncharted 4 was the fastest selling at the time and No man’s sky dropped after a week yet this game is on track to go higher and higher so go figure that.
certain types of games aren't for everyone. That's certainly the case with story driven rpg's, where telling a compelling, dense story is the first priority of the devs. Consuming the main narrative in a game like FF16 isn't unlike reading a book. You can't impatiently skim each page waiting for it to be something else. You have to have the patience and commitment to let it unravel at the pace it was designed to unravel. Which again, is not the kind of game a lot of people are going to be into, attention spans are down, I get it. But coming from someone who values and looks for good story telling in video games, I love FF16. It's a dense, sprawling, slow burn, that takes its time. And the payoff is a sense of having lived in this world and gotten to know its characters over decades of in game time. The gameplay is secondary but important. And again, compared to other jpgs, 16 is leagues ahead of its competition with its battle system. So which jpgs in the last 20 years are we comparing this to?
My problem is, for an action game, I don't think this was the best course of action; because at the end of it, people want to get back to the gameplay that's the selling point of the game. The story could be good, but if you're bogging the game down with just story, story, story, then it's gonna feel like a drag when you only get to fight for a small amount of it. You got to have a good balance, I believe, and I'd say older FF games did it better, though given the grinding nature of them, the combat could feel repetitive, but I do believe they had a good balance with FF12. I don't think I could agree with FF16 being leagues ahead of other JRPGs with it's battle system, when it's not much of an JRPG, but more of a full on Action game, and lacks any of the RPG that most JRPGs have: status effects, weaknesses/strengths, etc. Which is exactly what Yoshi-P did with FF14 as well. Especially, when most JRPGs battle systems are a bit more strategic and require more micro management, because of all the buffs/debuffs, accountability of team make up, gear, status effects, etc.
The game has the same problem as digimon survive 70% story 30% gameplay The difference is that FF16 was promoted as an hack&slash action RPG While survive was promoted as a visual novel first with sprinkles of tactical RPG. Maybe this is worst FF16 is as much an RPG as call of duty People take issue with this kind of thing
Except there are ways to give a video game compelling and dense stories without bogging down or undermining the gameplay and pacing, Death Stranding being a great example as it's a game I'm playing through right now. It's narrative about connection and separation is very compelling and dense, and yet DS remembers that it's a video game and therefore most of the time you're playing the game, you are going to be delivering packages, planning your routes, making bridges and roads that allow you to get to certain places much easier, etc, and you have to be careful and thorough as you have a limit on how much you can build due to the chiral network's bandwidth, and you can also damage your packages which lowers the amount of likes you get, which lowers the rate of connection you build with many of the people you deliver packages too. Video games are video GAMES, they are meant to be played, not sit there and listen and watching what goes on most of the time, that's what movie/shows are for.
I wanted to watch the stream but the fact it's a final fantasy game stopped me because unless synth started drinking I ain't got time for this boring bs

No. That would be Final Fantasy Mystic Quest! Mind you Mystic Quest is a better game than FF13, 15, or 16. But Mystic Quest is the simplest Final Fantasy title by far. I prefer turn based RPGs. Strategy is way more important to me than flashy graphics. I'd say Octopath Traveler is a far superior game to any of the new Final Fantasy titles..
FF has been dead for well over a decade now. I'm not even sure why some people keep hanging onto its corpse, it's been over for so long. And no, "Japan" doesn't struggle with telling a serious, dark story (just look at Berserk, Monster, Vagabond...). Japanese "game developers" struggle with this, and even they only recently.
Basically the devs decided to appeal to a broader audience by trying to make it like one of those awful “sony movie” games that are so popular nowadays. It’s barely even a final fantasy game.
I already finished the game. Most of the time you will be watching a cutscene, doing shitty main quests that play like a side quest or fighting very easy mobs. The only fun parts are when you fight the Dominants or the Final Boss, which aren't a lot. There wasn't any time invested on gameplay for this game. The only time story peaks is in the prologue, from there is a slow downhill until the second half of the game, where the downhill just becomes quicker. I'm actually really sad because this game cost me 114 dollars after taxes and I was saving money for art supplies. I'm fucking dumb. I hope CBU3 never touches mainline FF again.
Good hack n slash games like Metal Gear Rising is great but I vouch for Ninja Gaiden, I like a little challenge and it's personally one of my favorite game series besides DMC and speaking of DMC, I recommend you play and review DMC5 since people compare it a lot to FFXVI. The game has its flaws which I won't spoil for you and it has a recap on the main menu and has got lesser cutscenes that aren't tedious. And because you have a PS5, you can get DMC5 Special Edition since it's a lot cheaper. I love hack n slash but overall, this genre itself used to be as popular as soulslikes, thankfully, Platinum Games are keeping it breathing with Bayonetta. Anyway, I love your content as it's a very honest gaming channel that encourages people to freely speak out their own opinions on games, keep up the great work!👍
When it comes to the ungodly amount of cutscenes in this game yoshi p. Was the director for FF16 if you don't know who that is he's the guy who rebooted FF14 into what it is and I played 14 for about 4 ish years and that game is incredibly dialogue/cutscene heavy which explains why FF16 has 20 hours worth of cutscenes as for everything else idk I haven't played the game yet and I'm pretty hesitant to start anytime soon
i haven’t gotten my hands on FF16 but i am currently caught up to FF14. I thought (aside from ARR) there wasn’t a single moment where i felt dissapointed by the cutscenes, especially going into Shadowbringers and Endwalker every cutscene was fucking spectacular. i wonder what happened to 16
I can tolerate it if there's a lot of gameplay. FFXIV has a lot of cutscenes and dialogue. But it pays off tremendously and rewards you for you time with incredible emotionally satisfying moments. There is also plenty of combat and stuff to grind for gear, appearance stuff, and mounts.
Spoken like someone who has never played a Final Fantasy game before... just because ONE game has a hole bunch of cutscenes, doesn't mean this has been a staple of the series... mgs style cutscenes are not a staple of FF Games.
@beezusHrist I've played 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6. I've beaten 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 15, and 16. The only one that wasn't dialogue or cutscene heavy was 1. Not sure what you're talking about lol
@ugeenroadelie 4 isn't "dialogue" or cutscene heavy. 5 isn't "dialogue" or cutscene heavy. 6 isn't "dialogue" or cutscene heavy. Even though 7 OG has FMVs, they're never too long, and it certainly isn't "dialogue heavy". 8 is the same as 7. 9 is the same as 7. It is only when we get to 10 is where we get the more expanded stuff. Same with 12. And by 13, the game is overwhelming with nonsensical dialogue and cutscenes. 14 of course is a MMO and the cutscenes are essentially the game. 15 is trash and then we arrive at 16 which is very similar to 13 with how on-rails everything is. I think you need to go back and play those older games because it seems like you are misremembering things as people often do.
Great video. The game is kind of a weird hybrid between MMORPG (the semi open world and annoying quests), action game (well, the combat) and interactive movie. The action game part may be the fun part, but it's being paratized by the other parts. It's also quite sad that this game simply isn't a Final Fantasy. A mainline Final Fantasy - one of the greatest (J) RPG series of all time - is not an RPG. That's sheer madness. Square Enix sacrificed so much of the series' identity just to make the game suitable for a mass audience.
And most people don't seem to be calling them out for it, instead praising it, mainly due to being in the honeymoon phase, and OH PRETTY. Final Fantasy is simply dead.
@@roussounmanman No, it just changed. Dead for those that are obsessed with the turned based battle systems, sure. I grew up with those too, the original FF7 was my first final fantasy (and still my favorite, much prefer it to the trilogy of remakes that are coming which will pump each part with loads of filler to increase the game length, therefore ruining the pacing) - The reason I enjoyed FF7 wasn't the turn based battle system, it was the world, music, visuals, and story: so it doesn't matter to me that they have changed the battle system in recent final fantasies. While I feel bad for those who don't enjoy final fantasy's that aren't turned based and the series is seemingly dead for them, don't act like it's dead to the rest of us.

It’s really sad how short everyone’s attention spans are these days. It’s a heavy story game. Of course there’s going to be a lot of cutscenes. @Evanz111 Yeah it's weird. Testing out each element's charged projectiles, they all do the same exact damage number to enemies. Why even have all these different elements if none of them have unique properties. No affinities or option to exploit enemy resistance at all.

A great thing the Yakuza series does is having Control over the pacing of the story, don't want to continue the main story?
Not even "Combat Puzzle" games like Doom Eternal.

certain types of games aren't for everyone.
The game has the same problem as digimon survive

@@thefinalday5858it's not ff16 is mostly gameplay maybe play the fucking game??

@@Vaquix000 I love turn based systems. I loved FFXVI’s battle system. The game is just incredibly mediocre. Style over substance.
Can't wait for the response video pertaining to all the people that hated this video, despite the fact that your points being pretty reasonable, and your explicit alignment of Skill Up's takes on the game.
Aside from that, another good video on your part Synth. Keep doing what you're doing, and I hope you're in the right mindset and living life to the fullest. God be with you.
skill up didn't like the game, im surprised people upset about him, just like this guy its their opinion you don't need take it as fact, i go more word of mouth myself if my friends say its good ill play it
@@kyotheman69tbf, ff is japanese, and skill up is pretty harsh when it comes to those, especially in that one lost judgment review he made
Final Fantasy16 is trash 🗑
PS5 literally has no exciting games just interactive movies, they are formulaic and vastly overrated. Not surprised it can be beaten while munching on snacks.
You didn't even play the game retard.
@@tomgu2285 You are right to a certain extent, FF16 can hardly be classified as a videogame. I didn't 'play' it in the traditional sense. What I expected was a game, and what I experienced was one long and boring Movie.

It's funny how different perceptions are. I find myself on the edge of my seat all the time. I love the story so far, the music, the combat is super fun. You actually don't have to read the active time lore to understand the full story tbh, it's more like a nice addition.
It’s too much for him his brain might burst from all the words in screen
he is just like a a shooter guys. they don't like most slow games and always complain about it.
@@brokensword2621this game isn’t even slow the combat is very fast paced
Or, you have very low story and narrative standards. Dominants and Bearers being enslaved had me eye rolling the ENTIRE game. It's GOT s08 levels of terrible.
@@roussounmanman Or, I don't have low narrative standards, and just understand that mankind is messed up and it's easy to suppress some stronger few if a majority of people believe it to be justified. But surely we won't find any examples of that in our *real life history*, amirite?
After ff15 i thought they found out how to make a open world but they made the same mistakes again
It’s really sad how short everyone’s attention spans are these days. It’s a heavy story game. Of course there’s going to be a lot of cutscenes.
And anyone saying they’re pointless doesn’t know what they’re talking about. Every cutscene involves world building and/or character development. Not one of them is pointless.
If you don’t like that kind of stuff and wanted just more raw gameplay, you’re playing the wrong genre.
Dude it’s like some people just want the game to not have a story most games have a story nowadays they can’t get over the fact that they have to listen to words it’s too hard for them especially this reviewer
Death stranding is what narrative focused games should be - walking simulators - not movies.

@joaofernandes8164 YONG OUT
The hell?
@joaofernandes8164 Why would people even hear dubs? 8/10 they are straight up bad
Please tell this is a joke
I have never seen anyone, I mean anyone on twitch or youtube over the years, playing yakuza dubbed. I wasn't aware any of the games even had dubs, what would be the point in a game that is so focused on being Japanese?
The Antico side of me wants to support the game because it actually represents my race but the gamer in me wants to put that aside and recognize it's just a boring ass game. I can't believe studios want to charge us $70 for shit like this that's barely worth $40.
“Because it actually represents my race” L M A O damn that’s pathetic
@@HHTwiceare you calling the whole media world, the politicians and educational system pathetic? They can not talk about anything else 24/7. Their race and their representation.
@@raskolnikov6443 it’s pathetic you let that live in your head rent free to such an extent, you let “them” win, and yes it’s pathetic on their end as well for it being such a focus they feel the need to push said narrative, it’s weak on both ends
It's pretty disappointing that another game has followed this fucking trend. Too many people just accept this, especially with sony games.
