An incredible family vacation / road trip in our R1T up and down California and our impressions of the truck and ownership experience over the past 18 months.
I really enjoyed this Rivian road trip video! One correction: The Central Valley is on Interstate 5 and it does have many large charging stations. You were on US 101 through the Salinas Valley that is very rural and barely has any Highway Rest Stops and not much gasoline either. I’m sure that you know the difference and probably just misspoke. I 5 has to handle all of the traffic between Northern and Southern California and has hundreds of Semi trucks.
Thanks. I have a deposit down for the cyberbeast. I was leaning towards the R1T Quad-motor though. I don't like to lease my trucks. I am concerned about start-up companies like Rivian or Tesla going out of business. Do you see Rivian being around in 20 yrs. Thanks
I definitely do. With Amazon’s backing and don’t see Rivian going anywhere. They might get acquired at some point. But they won’t disappear. Lucid on the other hand … Tesla just opened up their charging network to all Rivians. That’s a huge plus. And the R2 and R3 already have tons of orders. That is what rivian needs to raise additional capital.
Very nice review of both the T and the charging situation. Gave me much more confidence in owning my first EV (R1S). Thanks for the great vid. (laughed at the 'mass genocide' comment.
@@AverageCarGuy Thanks. Enjoy your future travels in your T as well. As you mentioned, I'm sure the addition of the Supercharger network will make the Rivian an even better road tripper.
Thanks for driving electric! I'm so glad you didn't rent a Navigator (or whatever stinky vehicle you said you were considering).

Thank you for the correction. You’re absolutely right. I definitely misspoke. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I enjoyed the video but you never mentioned the state of charge of the RT1 when you arrived in Ojai. Those resorts look nice, I may have to them out.
15:53 you mention that you were taking a quick trip to Santa Cruz, but the footage you used is 101 S just north or San Miguel. Can't fool me :)

Thank you! I was very apprehensive about taking the R1T on a road trip, I'm glad I did and I wish you the best.
