April 2024 Still watching your videos on UA-cam, love them no matter what you are doing. I absolutely love your beautiful stained glass window. Keep well, best wishes x
Thank you for the tip about the leeks. Just wonderful. Your meal looked as if it were wonderful. Love when you share recipes, such an inspiration. Enjoy. Catherine
Yummy, I cook from my garden, too. I go out daily to see what's for dinner. I just learned how to clean leeks properly, thanks. I have a lot of green onions this year, I will cut and dehydrate them tomorrow.
2 videos in the same day! 🙌You said you were going to the garden in the last video. I thought you were going to show that. Instead we got a cooking video Awesome 👍😄❤
that girl in okc I was going to try filming the veg growing, but the rain! The wind! The teeth chattering cold! No chance! Warm stew though.... a different matter! ❤️
beautiful Jule stars. I lived in the dessert for 2 years in Western Australia( 370 kilometres past Kalgoorlie for a mining project) , and there was not rain or cool weather rain only once in a year. 45 deg. C and red sand and solitude. When I returned back to Hastings Victoria, I embraced the rain, garden and rural life. Queensland has about 130 raging bush fires at present. The gum trees have eucalyptus oil so it really fuels fire.Sydney had worst rain last week in 34 years and they had flooding in 2 hours .I love kitchen gardens produce . Yum, I would like to come for Teatime.Yes please.
If you wash the trimmings well, they make an amazing veggie broth. I use skins and all ad long as they look good and are clean. I just put them in the crock pot with water while at work
no-one is more surprised than me 0 i am always a bit amazed when I put seeds in the ground and they GROW! you'd think I'd have got used to it by now!!! xxxx
if you grow your own, 'Ace' tomato is known as a coreless variety. A little smaller than a tennis ball, and without a hard core. Great if you're going to can some of your own.
That looks delicious. I didn't know about the salt/bean issue. Nor did I know about cooking beets in that manner. Both facts will come in handy. I just made a cauliflower stew and used nutmeg and basil. I blended in yogurt. It is delicious!
Hello Kate! I cooked this great recipe this afternoon. However, without the cabbage, there was not, and I have not own vegetables, unfortunately. I immediately cooked a very big pot, so I had three more leftovers for the freezer. Of course, I also ate a proper portion of the same. It tasted absolutely delicious. Just the right food in this cold, wet, uncomfortable weather. Greetings Claudia
Hello Kate! What a wonderful recipe. Just the right food in this weather. Cooked with wonderful vegetables from your garden. I will definitely try this dish as well. Because I love all the vegetables you've used. Also, of course, my beloved chillies (I always make my own chilli flakes and powder) and, of course, bay leaves. Too bad that I live so far away. I would have come over smoothly for dinner. Or, before. Then we could have cooked together. I love to cook, and always with a lot of vegetables. Thanks for this nice video. Big hugs Claudia from Germany
So yummy!!!! Great tip re the beetroots, so frustrating when all the colour disappears. I have loads of self-sown beetroot left in my plot, which are inexplicably more like parsnips than bulbs. Delicious, though.
Perma Pen UK Hello from Canada!! Have you ever done your beets in the oven? I wrap mine in tin foil and bake/roast them. No anemic there at all!! And they take on the roasted flavour from the oven. Of course, they also take forever to cook but well worth it. You say yours look more like parsnips? Is it possible you've used a seed that produces "tubular shaped beets"? Great for slicing for pickles.
Looks delicious, I'm quite jealous of your dinner! Another tip, for some reason tomatoes will also greatly slow down the beans...good job keeping them separated.
lol, I do the same thing with canned tomatoes. In my case, no matter what brand of canned tomatoes I get, the stem end part is yellow or green and hard. Blech. I also crush them with my hands. I love that you're making a garden meal in November!
Looks really tasty. I do that with tomatoes as well, but I fish them out of the tin with a fork, onto a small plate, chop the tops off onto the counter top, chop them on the same plate and chucking them in my pot. I also wash out the can which in my case, still has most of the juice still in it and I don't have a sieve to wash up :) (but I do have a small plate and have to wipe the counter top down)
I love pickled beets. Basically I do as you did in cooking them. Then I put in a small pan, add a bit of vinegar and sprinkle with sugar. Heat til sugar melts and oh they're so delicious. Your meal looked yummy.
Julia Child would be a fan of your cooking Kate. Your a natural in the kitchen. You actually make me want to “cook” - and that’s a blooming miracle. It looks delicious. Oh I agree about the tomato things. Do you ever can your own tomatoes?
Cooking with Kate! Looks yum! Enjoy and I hope you don't get sick. I've started taking my Fire Cider to ward off any cold or flu. That lovely stew should help. The stars look lovely there! oxox
Your stew looks delicious! I tempted to make some myself but I will have to settle for what is at the super market (grocery store). Thank you for the cooking tips.
Look really good for a cold day Kate. If only a lot more people growing their own veg would not peel carrots and other veg, and also how you did the beets, would do it your way, I keep commenting on the peeling of their own veg not to do it or why do they do it, and use the stems of leaf veg too, they are throwing away the best parts! Sorry for the rant! Thanks for sharing.
HOWDY 💜🇺🇸👩🎤 I am taking a great lead from you. My husband and I are rearranging the garden and will be planting some of the delicious vegetables that I see you preparing such YUMMY food. You can do so can we...... THANK YOU Signing off Scott's wife Vickie
That looks really yummy Kate, and how satisfying it must be to be able to cook with veggies you have grown yourself ( i however never will, as i could kill a "rock garden" or so my grown children tell everyone, it is true i do not have a green thumb, sadly) if you like cooking, my eldest son ( i have 2 boys and 2 girls) lives over there in England with his wife, they are both chefs and live on a narrow boat, ( they are at the moment docked in a marina in Stone) they have a you tube channel and do vlogs on cooking different dishes etc, their channel is called Narrowboat Chef, if you are interested to have a look :D
That looks so tasty except the beets 😂😂 they do look pretty but I can't eat them. They taste like dirt to me. 😂 Those carrots and leek was a good catch for this time of the year. I love leek. What most people don't know is that the top part of the leek is the most nutritious part. I often see people rip it off and throw it away. And since you feel like a cold coming on try eating Brussel sprouts. They contain more vitamin C than oranges. I learned all this in my years working in a green grocery with my boss lady that had a really appropriate name to own such a store. Mrs Blackberry. 😂 I kid you not. 😉 xxx
Do you have a pressure cooker ? That's how I cook my beans and other things of course. Beans take 30 minutes.I don't like that piece of the tomato either.
ha ha!! no I don't have a pressure cooker - all that steam and hissing! I do have a slow cooker - my kind of thing - and definitely no microwave!!!! xxx
Dear Kate, can you tell me what is going on with olive oil? I never heat it, but lots or recepies start with it. Al the world known shefs are cooking with olive oil, exept French. I like it on roasted bread and salads, cold. What hapened with old fashion vegetable oil? Did you taste a chicken cooked on olive oil? Its not eateable! And we have local olive oil, but we dont cook with it, we use it fresh and cold. Eaten by spoon if you like. So, what do you think? Maybe I am just an old lady with old habites. Today lots of people are buying ecobio stuf in shops and belive they are living healthy. In fact they are just makeing an expensive pii and poo with no benefits for the body. My vegi and vegan friends are not for havy work at farm. They are quickly hungry, tired and cold, but I love them anyway and I respect their way of life. Buuut with al them helty life they cant work so much as I, with allll of my bad habits. So where is the point?Love you!!

You cook all the things I love specially your cauliflower cheese.
That looks delicious. I didn't know about the salt/bean issue. Nor did I know about cooking beets in that manner. Both facts will come in handy. I just made a cauliflower stew and used nutmeg and basil. I blended in yogurt. It is delicious!
Mmmmmmm! The stew looks fabulous! Thanks for the tip on cooking beet root....I don't have much luck growing it. But I keep trying!
Wonderful meal you have there and it just couldn't get any fresher than that. Have a Blessed day.

Hi Kate. I do the same to my canned tomatoes. I’m just as fussy. 😀
Looks delicious, I'm quite jealous of your dinner! Another tip, for some reason tomatoes will also greatly slow down the beans...good job keeping them separated.

I don't mind squishing them - but I guess its not everyones style! xxx
Yum looks so delicious. And very healthy. My problem is that I would want to eat all of it.
not too much of a problem! i think that did me two meals! xxx
I love pickled beets. Basically I do as you did in cooking them. Then I put in a small pan, add a bit of vinegar and sprinkle with sugar. Heat til sugar melts and oh they're so delicious. Your meal looked yummy.
sounds perfect! xxx
Yummo!! Looks tasty. I can almost smell it! Enjoy
I want some of that. When can I come over? Super entertaining and delightful as always Miss Kate.
Looks delicious! Think I’ll give this recipe a try! Thank you!
Yum! Looks so good! When you were cutting those carrots I just wanted to reach in and grab one!
Looks yummy and so healthy!
Yummo! you are making me hungry!
Lovely video x enjoyed watching xx
You are absolutely right about that core on the tomatoes that ends in that nasty bit at the end. Off with it!
Love any kind of legumes . The stew will be delicious I'm sure. Looks yummy.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't like the top of tinned tomatoes, YUK! I take them off too, love your videos, keep them coming.
Looks so Delicious. We made the best homemade vegetable soup this week. I'd love to try the beetroot next time.
Love the stars!!
Julia Child would be a fan of your cooking Kate. Your a natural in the kitchen. You actually make me want to “cook” - and that’s a blooming miracle. It looks delicious.
Oh I agree about the tomato things. Do you ever can your own tomatoes?
I don't get enough tomatoes - I make a bit of sauce - but it all gets eaten - and Julia and I would agree on one thing - BUTTER!!! xxx
Hahaha - me too, that makes a trio. If I have to give up butter, I’m taking to my bed🙀
Not fussy at all. I hate those tops on the tomatoes as well and pick them off. Your stew looks yummy.
Of course I shared this on Facebook!
Cooking with Kate! Looks yum! Enjoy and I hope you don't get sick. I've started taking my Fire Cider to ward off any cold or flu. That lovely stew should help.

I've always done exactly the same thing as you, Kate, with the tomatoes. The stem end is not appealing!
I take those out of the tomatoes too!!
What is minced meat thanks
Yummy!
Yumie xx 😘
YUMMY!!!

I'm definitely going to check them out ! Thank you! I think narrowboat living must be a challenge - but also great fun! xxx
Yum! Do you give your chickens some of the scraps?
I don't like that part of the tomato either. Your stew looks delicious.
That looks delicious! Did you win those awesome Bay Leaves in a fun auction recently, by any chance? I heard those are the best!
Rita Lobo I paid quite a lot of fantasy plastic money for them, some other numpty kept bidding things up! 😂❤️ they made that stew ! 😘
