Kate have you ever thought about getting a pepper grinder? That way you don't need to use your mortar and pestle to grind your peppercorns, you just load them in the grinder, give it a few twists when your seasoning your meals and that's it.
It is a grey rainy day here in central oregon toooo. Snow coming tomorrow! For today I am making beef veggie stew and homemade rolls. I figure it's about 11:45pm where you are but its 3:45pm here. Have an hour and a half to wait till the rolls raise and can be baked. The best for a grey rainy day. Your video is making me really hungry. It all looks and sounds so yummy! Thanks for sharing Kate!
Kate, thank you for sharing these. I may give the sweet potato chips, as I have two sitting on the counter waiting. Perfect for a day where the temperatures are in the single digits and the wind chill has the temp currently at -15 F. Enjoy the day. Catherine
I enjoy all your videos, Kate, regardless of content. It's so interesting to see how you do the things you do and you explain so well. I'd like to try the date balls, my gran used to make stuffed ones at Christmas and I love them. Thanks for sharing.

Things are never ordinary at Kate's house. That's why I love to be there. I love the new credit scroll although I fear the cats may be too stressed out by it! (Ha!)
Perfect content for me. Now that I have a sulphite allergy, I've been making all sorts of snacks and treats that I can enjoy. These ones look very good. Thanks
Just love your vids, you remind me so much of my sister! The treats look yummy, I'll definately be trying them. Thanks for sharing the pictures of those little furry sweethearts at the end, they're adorable.
The Last Homely House East of the Sea Yes, I was very lucky to have her, she was a wonderful sister, & my best friend. She was almost 3 yrs. older than me, very talented in everything, & definately a hard act to follow😃 Sadly she passed away a few years ago.
two videos in one day!!! what an unexpected bounty !! lots of fun happening at the homely house ( and I forgot to mention it but I love your new intro/extro)
No fruit? I would never make it on that diet. This week, I made some roasted sweet potatoes, cut in chunks and seasoned with avocado oil plus a mix of chili powder, smoked paprika, pink salt, black pepper and a pinch of cayenne. They are delish hot, warm or cold. 😋
its about changing a holiday sugar-rich diet (creates improper acidity in your system) to a plant greens-rich diet (creates the proper alkalinity in your digestive tract) Holiday overload can create all sorts of bodily issues from aching joints to rosacea and other skin problems, with vitamin deficiencies thrown in for extra measure. Not forever, just till your gut is in balance again. Takes a while. It's really not hard.
I am loving your channel! I'm looking to eat a more alkaline diet, too....great recipes! I have a box of sweet potatoes that I need to use pronto. :) I don't sew...but I'm still enjoying watching your instruction on the patchwork dog--SO cute! I also eyeball when cooking. Who wants to scrape things from one container to another and dirty a sink full of dishes? ;) The little bite-sized snacks are similar to Lara Bars--dates + other goodies= healthy snack. Love this idea! You have a winning personality and a beautiful smile! God bless!
Good morning Kate, love the recipes, your bliss balls I will definitely be making. I made energy balls made with dates ,prunes , sunflowers seeds, vanilla extract, cocoa powder and natural almond butter. My hubby & I love to have one for a afternoon pick me up. They’re on the sweet side so one is enough. I just keep them in the freezer, for a easy grab. Thanks for sharing your recipe. I’m one of those people who try’s to stay on the healthy side to stay on the top side of the grass 😊❤️
Happy snack-time Kate!!!! All your snacks look delicious. I think I'd try the sweet potato chips and the cabbage chips. Nuts I love, but these, and even your little healthy balls are true calorie bombs. Three nuts every day, then it would have to work, hahaha!!!!! However, I would have to use a fat other than coconut oil as I just can't bear that smell. But in this case, you can also vary. Your measurement by proportion of proportion was absolutely funny. I usually do it that way when cooking. Not when baking, you should stick to the quantities. Nice if you have delicious and healthy snacks at home. Dear greetings Claudia
I like the regime I'm following because it has nothing to do with calories - but like I said - different things work for different people! and you are right about cake cooking - precision! xxx
Made the soup you made that has carrots, ginger root, turmeric root, pumpkin. sweet potato tomatoes, lentils and every one loved it! Thankfully we have almond, date, pistachio trees in our area of California because pistachios are running around $8 US for 340 g or shy 12 ounces at the store. We love to roast chickpeas with seasoning salt. Kale chips. And us a mandolin to thin slice sweet potato for roasted chips. And we do 350*F or 170* C. Also make parsnip chips.
Don't you wish you were over here so Kate and Colette could bake you cakes! Two yummy cakes. Now that would be a treat. C from the little haunted cottage in Ireland 🍀🍀🍀👻👻👻
I loved this Kate. I made the sweet potato crisps. I used peri peri seasoning on them and they are delicious! So now I’ve got to pop to Sainsbury’s and get one or two things for the Bliss balls. Thank you 🌷
It all looks yummy except I’ll pass on the cashews as I don’t like them. I wonder If I could use another nut in its place or should I say legume? Chickpea perhaps? That might be good with spice and I love those! 😃
I couldn't manage without my set of measuring cups, you should give them a go sometime. Bliss balls are ok 'eyeballed'. Thanks for sharing the healthy snacks.
ok - I'll tell you my problem with 'cups' vs measuring by weight - the volume of something can vary wildly - whereas the actual gram measurement is always accurate. Having said that - I mostly do with it with everything but cakes! xxxx

So, I’m constantly in search of new treats to make. I love using date puree as a sweetener. So the bliss ball recipe is right up my alley. I like to invent recipes and I’ve made a loaded brownie recipe that’s great for when you’re on a hike or just feel like a little snack. It has flax seed meal, hemp hearts, chia seeds, unsweetened coconut, (you can’t taste it much) and unsweetened carob chips, (they’re naturally sweet) raisins and coco powder among a few other ingredients. It’s then sweetened with the date puree. If you’d like to try it let me know and I’ll send it along to you. But for now I think I’m going to give your treats a whirl! Oh boy! 💕
