Thanks for this insightful dive into meter shifting with a riff/lick to create a new "feel" to a song. I haven't explored this much at all yet, but I can only imagine once other instruments (outside of percussion) are involved, this will become more challenging. I kind of wonder if it will make the song - maybe just for the performer - feel more polyphonic in terms of being used to hearing or knowing what to expect from the other musicians, but then displacing my part... not sure if what I'm thinking and trying to say is making sense here...?
