I've been playing for over 30 years. I used to think I was a force to be reckoned with. Nope. I wish you lived next door so I could beg you to teach me. That clean is off the chain.
"... and that dude does NOT like to use shit that doesn't work." Hahaha, spot-on comment, my man. Great breakdown of what you have at your disposal when using this software and like usual, killer playing! I've mentioned in other videos that most of these presets sound fantastic "out-of-the-box" or with just a slight bit of tweaking and you've definitely shown that to be the case here.
I'm glad you gave The Count of Tuscany is due praise. Not only is that my favorite Dream Theater song, it's one of my two favorite songs of all time! I was so glad to see that John added that preset. I may have fanboyed a little bit 🤣
Gojira blows this out of the water, and to be honest if Neural DSP added the transpose function and a DI match like JST tones but on all the nDSP plugs the nameless aka Meshugga would put these all to shame!
@Mike Hunt I've heard both of those plugins, and they're fantastic! I agree. We could use those functions on every nDSP plugin for sure. I've wanted to try out the DI matching for a while now. It's such a cool concept
Al as ever you blow me away! You're playing is simply incredible! Thank you for sharing such a well produced and articulate insight into this plugin - thoroughly enjoyed!
Count of Tuscany is an all time favorite... Please keep playing and noodling around :D MOST interesting.. the Transpose, and also you can use Impulse Responses (IRs). and they have MESA boogie 2x12, 4x12s absolutely amazing !! OH a real boon .. if you are recording, say on any other instrument or voice track, you can put Architect:Petrucci just before your other instrument plugins (like GKPro for Bass, any other track), and set the Architect to bypass, (Shut off the amp on your screen) then adjust the Transpose, add your instrument plugin (audio) on the track, and play. Seemless, no latency. I do this while tuning a 7-string (B -> A) then the same thing on my 5-string bass to get the bassy crunch. This is the BEST transposer I've ever found.. Love it.. I use it all the time for downtuning on songs.. downtune everything recorded.. sounds great
As a DT / Majesty fan from the first hour, i can relate to that. Now everbody has got the chance to sound like Petrucci. And guys C'mon, we all dreamed about this right?
Seriously, for the average modern rock player, this is the only plugin you will need. I bought this a couple months ago and literally left Helix Native behind. Love Line 6 effects, but all the effects I need are in the JP Archetype and the amp modeling is just superior in every way. Nice demo!
Hello Al Joseph. After seeing several video’s I became a fan. Not only becaaue of your guitar skills but also your way of teaching. What I almost never see anywhere on YT os guitarist diving deep into what is a correct chair for practising guitar, posture of the body, holding the guitar on the left or right leg and how it relates to the wrist, etc etc etc. Because you have lots of experience I would love to hear you share your advice. Even after many years I am struggling with these things. E.g. when I hold the guitar in classical position on my left leg then it has its benefits but playing between fret 1-5 becomes problematic with my wrist. If I keep my wrist straight then my index finger is not straight on the fingerboard. This does not happen when putting the guitar in standard position on the right leg. There are many examples
Thanks for this. I got the Rabea, and the Petrucci. They just had a half off sale. So, I pretty much have anything I need, from those two plugins. I don't know much about Petrucci/Dream Theater, but the effects, and the amps are awesome! Nice Demo.
Hello, so to have this all you need is; Capable Computer Interface Speaker Monitors I have no clue about this new world of sound... any and all help is appreciated Great review BTW!
That was incredible! Awesome demo. I really hope they come up with a way to use these Plugins with the Quad. Is the reverb built with some modulation? I hear this melodic ring on the roll off trail.
I want you to do a cover of A View from the top of the world song. You already have the skills, you are a JP fan,now you have this plugin too. If you do decide to record it,i would love to see it,it's gonna sound perfect!
Hi Al. Not only a fan of DT and JP but hugely enjoy your playing with the solo albums and Hyvmine. Anyhow, old school plug into a tube amp player here. I want to try this out. I’ve got a MacBook, guitar, and soon to download Archetype Petrucci. How do I set this up? Where is the guitar supposed to be plugged in? Straight to laptop or do you use some sort of audio interface? Thanks man.
Youll need an audio interface, Scarlett or Behringer has some cheap options that are decent to start with. I used the Umc22 from behringer at first, then got the scarlett 2i2. Either is fine, you just plug the guitar into the interface, and run the interface to computer. Then you can either play straight through this plugin, or you can load up this petrucci plug in into any DAW software like FL studio, Ableton, Logic, etc to be able to record these tones
So I am semi new to plug ins and what not. I've heard archetype is pretty solid but my question is, "is this the actual plug in only into the speakers or is there a bunch of extra layering that is making it sound this good?" I use BIAS now and more often than not, the tones sound horrendous. Do I need to run everything through pro tools or something to get decent tone? Sorry for noob comment.
The difference from BIAS to these Neural DSP plugins is insane. I started with BIAS.. then after trying a few Neural DSP plugins ive never touched anything else lol. Every neural dsp plugin has a 14 day trial also, so you can try them for free to see what you think
I've figured out a really cool step to help an electric sound like an acoustic. If you're a rhythm guitarist or singer/guitarist, you may like it. But if you're a lead guitarist, you may not. Simply put, replace your unwound G string with a wound G string. String-wise, that's the difference...string material notwithstanding.
@@stanislavnazaruk8479 Oh sorry I thought it was obvious since it's a John Petrucci plug-in but I guess not everyone knows haha. But it's Dream Theater on the album Train of Thought
great review and your playing....hell yes!!!
You did justice to this awesome plugin! Crazy vid
one thing about these new plugins, is there very dynamic roll volume knob on guitar and the gain back a lil and listen to the Definition come alive!
Thanks for this video, your riffs are fantastic!
I've been playing for over 30 years. I used to think I was a force to be reckoned with. Nope. I wish you lived next door so I could beg you to teach me. That clean is off the chain.
"nice round bottom end" yeah man I feel that one. 😂
Really nice demo - great playing - tones sound super
You killed that demo, sick playing man. That single coil sound is just nasty too with the high gain rhythm tone.
sick demo! I'm in the middle of my trial period and will definitely be purchasing.
"... and that dude does NOT like to use shit that doesn't work."

Just got to try this myself tonight. I'm blown away by how well the Transpose effect tracks. Flawless! Great playing man!
Best video I've seen on this plugin. It has it all. Neural for the win, again.
I'm glad you gave The Count of Tuscany is due praise. Not only is that my favorite Dream Theater song, it's one of my two favorite songs of all time! I was so glad to see that John added that preset. I may have fanboyed a little bit 🤣
It is always a tie between A Change of Seasons and The Count of Tuscany to me!
Cheers.🍻

@@TedAnthony its def a winner add-on...the DI matching really allows you to get into the guitar type and even simulate active pick ups.
You sold that plugin really well man. I tried it and absolutely love it!
Soooo freaking loved it, Thanks for the overview bro😊🙏❤🎸 @Al Joseph

good run down dude. Neural definitely is releasing some awesome stuff.

its a brilliant Archetype Al, thank you going through it, I bought it and spend all day playing it, its so inspiring.
Subscribed! Killed it, man.
this dude is dope!
I hope Neural hooks you up. You just sold another one with this vid. Great job on those DT covers.

Fantastic tones Al, sounds great! It was an instant purchase for me, can’t wait to get tracking with it!
Great sounds and great playing as usual, homie!! 👏🏻

NIce demo man. And the improv after count of tuscany intro is beautiful.
Great demo dude. Your chops are superb.
Beautiful tones, some great tips and ideas here from an incredible player.

fuck yeah bro,
I didn't see where you explained where it controls the temperature of the sun. Will this be bonus DLC?

I want to hear you if you compare this plugin VS headrush mx5? Can you achieve this tone easily with mx5? ;-)
What speakers do you use to hear the playback that sound true and give some form of punch mids and bass?
Guitar and pickups used? 👌
@Al Joseph, what kind of computer are you running this all through?
It runs well on Mac m1 chips? what interface are you using??
