Huge thanks to Francesco / francescofiligoi
I can't even count the number of times I've watched this. Magnificent, I still get shivers every time.
Thank you Rick.
Same.
plus one
Plus two. Embarrassingly just realised I never liked it. Apologies Rick, corrected my error.
Rather than replying to comments below, I thought I'd share my own thread. I spend an insane amount of hours watching guitarists like this, and I have to say, hands down, that every time I watch Rick Graham my jaw is on the floor....that doesn't happen very often when you are a guitar junkie like me. I'm talking talent that is rarely seen....I just don't know how to quantify this guy. He is unreal. The end.
Rick, Alex Hutchings and Jack Thamarrat... so good.
@@Cookerab Alex ok but thamarat is not on the same league as rick
Ricks legato technique sets him apart for me, he gets this insane speed coupled with a wicked pull off sound, and I think he fuckin deserves the praise for the work he must’ve put in learning that lmao, most definitely my favorite musician ever, and a guitar players guitar player for sure.
Master Rick is on the highest level...The Paul Gilbert Level...
Might be ten people in the world on that level & lastly I haven't seen anyone anywhere ever come close to the highest supreme God of Guitar...Mr Shawn Lane RIP
BTW Mr Lane can also throw the fuck down on a piano, you've never seen anyone dog a keyboard out like him...
Kelster Von Shredster well said.
seen this like a thousand times, still shake my head in disbelief every time lmfao
Those muted legato runs are just the coolest thing ever
The best cover ever done... Proud to have a intelligent guitarist like Rick graham..
You should check out Cesar Huesca's version as well, great cover also
One of the best guitarists in the world.
definitely
The lydian legato runs in the latter half, plus that perfect sweep FROM OUT OF NOWHERE, are jaw-dropping. Not just pure shred - tasteful, stunning playing. Satch would be proud.
That sweep was bloody murder. Out of nowhere, as you said.
Not just a great guitarist... a lifestyle! The most beautiful demonstration of the abyssal difference between a “player” and an “artist” .... thank you Rick for this taste of your soul
that sweep haha wtf?! so quick and clean
tgerule search on UA-cam "Alejandro Silva Solo"
MusiclickProduccion sweet mate. Will do! :)
@@MusiclickProduccion thanks to you I am now aware of another Killer Guitarist!
Lol extremely clean, Yngwie 80s level
He did it even cleaner than Satch himself, lol.
That improv at the end gets me every time. Some seriously awesome playing.
Rick, don't tell Joe but you took this song to the "Next Level" in ALL respects. You perfectly captured all of the key elements but then proceeded to take it beyond the stratosphere. I'm driving all over town with this song on infinite repeat at full volume. Unbelievable. Thanks so much for all of your efforts and the great lessons! You are the best man!
RG for G3.
Its gotta be...
Dude fuck yeah!
Modern day G3 NEEDS Rick Graham!
Oh yeah 🤘
fuck yeah!
Yep rg 560.
This never gets old!! Rick Graham, you are awesome!!
Crystal planet was the first instrumental album I ever owned. Time and secret prayers probably my favorite on the album. This version is so good. I won't say better. I will say different. The nuances and little improv after the 'bridge' portion are phenomenal. Amazing guitar cover of an amazing guitarist.
It's hard to get Satch right. This is Satch done right.
Though I did hear that Rick doesn't practice, he just gets his guitar in a headlock until it complies.
DaveDexterMusic best post/comment evarrrrt
DaveDexterMusic satch done CORRECTLY...pinch harmonics? perfect.....extended legato runs? perfect......
Sonic Perfection! Guthrie be prepared to be dethroned , there's a new , AS RICK SAID "BOSS"
this is not get satch right. this is getting satch better. way better actually.
Hey Rick kids out there .....stop comparing him with master father Joe .... You can never beat your father coz you're made up of his sperm.... So as Rick and Joe...
Love the _palm drag harmonics_ here. 2:19 ^-^
Aylbdr Madison I was wondering WTF that was 😳
This is one of my favorite Satch songs, and an extremely underrated one, especially with the ending part. Love your additions. You did it justice. Rock on!
Such an underrated Satch tune. Really not sure why it doesn't get mentioned up there with his top few classics more often. The song is a masterclass in using melody to tell the emotional story outlined by the chord progression. Amazing.
Def my favorite Satch song ever. The first time I heard the the time shift in the outro, 🤯. And the groove at the end when the last guitar note fades... Two amazing songs in one.
Once again, this never gets old
Absolutely nailed it Graham. One of Satrianis best tracks ever.
I've been watching your video for many years. Now I just created a new channel dedicated for Satriani and still I keep coming back to this cover!
I always felt like this was Joe’s most underrated piece. You did it so much justice!!! That was absolutely fantastic😎
even underrated is a underrated word its that dam BRILLIANT beyond genius. its like a whole other world and they taught him this piece to blow all of our minds.
the number of techniques he has mastered, and demonstrated in this. not learned, but mastered. Just a pleasure to watch and, of course, listen to.
My God Rick, what an incredible performance. I love watching/hearing one guitar God cover another guitar God's work. I'll be sharing this with everyone
I saw this after so many years! Blew me away again!!
flawless victory
Holy shit dude. That outro is freaking transcendent. The lightspeed descending legato with the subtle right hand touch harmonics thing that you've mastered keeps me awake at night.
My fav satch song, which somehow flies under the radar more than deserved. Cool to see someone appreciate it this much. Well done
Deus seja louvado por ter criado os sons e a música. E Deus abençoe Rick Graham! Interpretou magnificamente essa música. Só o "Time" pra nos trazer um pouco de paz e temperança.
My lord. The emotion invoked.. I’m moved ⚡️🙏🏾
8,400 likes 0 dislikes. Pretty much says it all. This is world class and as someone said below, I can't stop watching it and it gives me chills every time... Amazing work Mr. Graham
Very clean and precise! I'm glad to live on the same planet as you. earth has the best guitarists!
_"Earth has the best guitarists!"_ Says the guy talking about a cover from the man who broke onto the scene with an album titled: _Surfing With The Alien,_ lols.
(Sorry, it was just too funny not to type it, no hate ^-^).
I can't stop watching this. An absolutely perfect cover of my favorite Satch tune!
este cover es un obra de arte, lo veo por lo menos 2 veces a la semana jaja
God, this dude is a monster guitarist
So much patience and passion you must have Rick, to record and cover such an awesome music piece. Every shot, every note, every intention is just perfect and inspiring! People who don't thrive to reach such a level of performance and perfection will never understand. You truly are amazing!
I have now watched this video around 50 times over the years and feel exactly the same as the first time! Incredible song written and performed by a master and reproduced by another master! 50 more views and I'm betting it will still give me goosebumps 🤘
your solo gives me chills everytime
Beautiful phrasing
Rick you've reinvented with this song ! I have no words to describe this masterpiece of music.
Rick Graham covering one of my all time fave tracks by one of my all time fave artists! What a buzz! And what a great rendition it is. Well done.
So fucking great.
n'est ce pas ? great cover
NeoGeo was here??!! Wow!!! I am a fan of yours in the USA!
One of the few who can actually play a Satch tune and sound legit doing it. Well done :-) .
Joe should see this :) he Would be more than just impressed
It is amaizing. Thanks you.
Your playing is just perfect, your tone also :)
That rhythm groove and solo beginning at 3:30 is beautiful ~ ~
Is it weird that I've watched this video 2 or 3 times a day, every day since it's been posted?
Hard to believe it's been 3 years and I'm still watching this a couple times a month.
It would only be weird if you knew about him and wanted to learn as much as you could, yet failed to come back to watch this multiple times.
Bruh I found this video like 3 months ago and I must have seen it 20 times at least lol
The outro solo though,... Damn.
it's normal
Rick, you're freakin killing me bro. As a meat and potatoes guitar player, watching you play gives me pleasure.....and then depression lol......I couldn't get that good if I practiced 10 hours per day. I tip my cap man. You're technique and phrasing blow me away.
Amazing cover. One of my favourite tracks from master Satch, and I loved your version. Great respect, Rick.
Absolutely nailed the Satch vibe, especially the pick attack to get those notes singing with harmonics. Too many people just play Satch with a mix of either straight up notes or full pinched harmonics and miss that great "in between" thing Satch does so well. Awesome playing dude!
Damn Rick, this is a savage cover and definitely has more of a 'metal' edge to it. Great job!!
Fuuuukin ell!! One of my favourte all time Satch songs, great version!!
I belive this is one of tje greatest guitar video on UA-cam. Absolutely flawless playing, perfect guitar tone and production and some very cool camera angles.
Lately I find myself watching this video almost every day as I tune up my guitar ready for a practise session. Utterly sublime.
Respect Rick.
haha, didn't notice your comment yet, a lot of respect from Russia to you for your music and for the cover on Marty's Inferno!)
Monstrous vibrato!!!! Such a powerful player.
Hi Rick, I have to do a delicate operation in the hospital and I hope it will be fine, I trust in GOD ... !!!
I wanted to thank you for your Art ... !!!
GOD Bless You
I hope your operation went well. *
Aylbdr Madison Yes, Thanks To GOD 🎸🎸🎸
I still come back to this all the time for my reminder that Rick is the king
Incredible, best version on the web imho
Thank you Rick for bring joy and all those unarmed and undescrible feelings . Amazing work.
Wow. That was incredible. It took me a while to get into to the original song, being completely honest here, but this... this is the best cover I've ever heard of this particular song. Adding your own little flair there at the very end was beautiful. :D
Einfach Woooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwww.......................Großartig!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bin sprachlos. Wie kann ein Mensch so etwas spielen. Rick the Magic :-)
I cried after I read "Dedicated to the musician that changed my Life"...
Rick, you are a legend. Thank you for all the great rock n' roll. -Gary
This is unbelievable mate. Killer job. 10/10
Usually I like covers to be as accurate as possible but I love every spin you put on this song! From the vibratos to the more controlled descending shred solo part. It was great. This will always be one of my favorite Satch songs and now this will be my top covers along with Cesar Huesca's. Great job, Rick.
Crystal Planet, the good old times ;)
+FeelingShred To me it's Satriani's best album. Granted, there's some of his new stuff I didn't listen to, so I can't really compare,, but still
it's all been a bit downhill since strange beautiful music imo...
Shockwave Supernova was excellent ... and crystal planet (alongside Engines of Creation) top satch albums for me
Rick is a fantastic musician, he has the technique, the feeling, the talent, the sound, the soul comes through his playing. I respect him infinitely.
But one day, an innovator who opened a door where there was a world with new guitar playing techniques and new music that so many guitarists wanted to copy or appropriate. I admire Rick...really. And I think even he agrees that Satch is a true creator...a pure Artist.
His fantastic technic serves his inspiration and not the other way around.
And more he also created new ways to use a guitar.
Respect Rick for this wonderful interpretation of this classic of instrumental music composed by a true virtuoso with a unique creative imagination.
Satch is a real Legend.
Forever and ever.

I like coookies and this cover of Time by satriani.
Now im eating cookies and listening:) Great combo.
Just plain stunning.....
Bloody Hell Rick!
I have never heard anything from Satch that I haven’t loved. Watching him play this is purely mesmerizing! ✊❤️🔥🤘
Needless to say that the backing track is also way better than the original . The sound is huge, heavy , and powerfull ..... congrats
Why oh why cant I like this a thousand times. I haven't even listened to Satchs version yet. Rick, you are so the man.
Increíble versión. Mi más sincera enhorabuena.
One of my favourite videos.
Mââ!! Great Version !! you're awesome dude !!! mââââ!!!
GOOSEBUMPS
This is awesome!!! Time is one of Joe's lesser known gems compared to Satch Boogie etc.... But, i think it's, dare i say it..... BETTER!
I agree! A masterpiece from Joe!
+Pedro Junior Almost full Crystal planet album is a masterpiece :) Light of heaven , Love thing, Ceremony, raspberry 5, House full of bullets and some others...
Crystal Planet has a lot of good tracks/ songs in it... it's my favorite album of his...
Those last two minutes make me tear up. Just beautiful.
dam guitar ninja, always on stealth mode.lol i can only imagine what kinda music he would create in a band etc format live, it would be phenomenal! Get on making some music ricky boi! i wanna see you live some TIME! ;)
I'm speechless ....again!
I tried to add this to my favorites but it was already in there! Would love to see your version of "Lonely in the Night" by EJ!
+Adam Tolli I just did the same thing!
Mr Graham. That was incredible.
I like this version more than the original.
ENGLISHMAN NEWYORK U mad?
ENGLISHMAN NEWYORK LOL
angry child is angry
+Shreddah certainly this version is incredible in many ways
+ ENGLISHMAN NEWYORK..... Strange Apparatus. [get it?].
Shreddah don't exaggerate
WOW!! Thank You!! This song has been one of My favorites for years!!
Amazing outro Rick! You put your own awesome twist on it! Next time play a little cleaner though lol
Cleaner?? Wtf are you on about? Every single note is crisp! The man is renown. He's technique is fine! I doubt you could play anything close to this!
***** pretty sure he was joking
andrew timothy ***** Of course I was joking, wow
Really...? I'm pretty sure jokes are funny! Or at the least imply some sort of sarcasm
***** You obviously have no sense of humor, not saying what I said was funny, but definitely sarcastic. Did you not see the lol at the end of what I said?
I think, it's the best cover I've ever listened, seriously.
I'm death serious.
Ha ha, this was cleaner and better played than the original. great stuff
Very well executed . Outstanding player with his own touch .
this is better than the original
have some respect dude.
That ending solo is pure magic
The one dislike is Joe Satriani himself because Rick played it better ;)
Haha he certainly played it astonishingly! We musn't forget however that God gave his hands to Joe 😜
All different interpretations bring something new we like or dislike! Someone will hear it played on a banjo and like it better then the original! Let’s not forget it’s the music and composition we love most!
I see your wink, so I know you are just having fun, but want to say anyway that I highly doubt Joe wouldn't actually love hearing this, I sure would if I were him. Covering someones material is truly the purest form of flattery. And from everything I've heard about Joe from the few students of his I know, he's a very amicable, humble, and genuine person.
My second biggest regret as a musician was missing out on taking lessons from him (first was watching drugs and egos tear apart the two bands I was in that had great chances of becoming popular in more than just my home state). But a friend of mine told me about Satriani when I was still a kid, and I actually used to hang out in the same music store before that searching for classical and jazz sheet music to transpose. Seriously, I could even hear him giving lessons downstairs and saw him a few times between lessons talking to his students, though at the time I had no idea who he was.
He put out Not of This Earth around this time, but by the time I got ahold of that cassette, Surfing came out a couple of weeks or so later and I could never have afforded his lessons after that. Anyway, keep your ears open people... *sometimes you never know who is giving lessons in your local music store until it's too late.*
Fuck are you getter than your own father ????
@@kisstagals who the fuck are u? Bill gates better than his father. U fool! Its all about how u want to upgrade yourself. Rick can played what JS played but JS can't play what rick played
I don’t think I’ll ever tire of watching this video. Thank you, Rick!
Thank you for everything after 4:00.
+battlestrat for me its 3:26 when the magic starts
absolutely incredible
very bad cover .. just kidding its perfect lol
One of the greatest Satriani's compositions
I never got into satriana, I always preferred bucket head.
You should try satriani I've heard he's quite good...
Both are amazing :D
as always, Rick, your command of the instrument is nothing short of inspiring.
