Every minute of this video is worth it. I...can... not.. believe the design decisions Ubisoft CHOSE for this game. I heard it was bad, but MediaKit really lets me know just HOW bad this game design is. Unbelievable!
I've been waiting for a deeper sale on this one, while also hoping that the recent updates fixed most of the glaring issues... but damn! You've done an incredible job documenting how flawed the core game's design and mechanics are, while also providing good constructive feedback as to how the game could be way better than it is, had better decisions been made during development. The visual editing is top notch as well. 👌
i usually get bored of this sort videos but this is different, well done video you point out the good (which is not much) and you point out the bad and then you gave them more then one idea to fix it. everything explain well and the video editing with all the animation was the cherry on the top. there is one thing i think every game that use it should do it better not just Star Wars Outlaws (the grappling hook) even a good game like Ghost of Tsushima use it the same way you explain it in the video, i hope it well better in AC shadows and ghost of yotei.
I was watching this game for a year leading up to its release… I waited for evidence of drivable vehicles. Why aren't they flexing the drivable vehicles?
Keep up the good work my friend 🎉. Very well presented. Some of these aspects of the game quest design have been thoroughly normalized, and general mantling is difficult to find in most open world games.. until people are able to be awakened out of their apathy by a game that does all the genuine improvements discussed in the video in a superlative way that simply makes other games FEEL like downgrades, I'm afraid they'll still be here to stay.
I honestly have the feeling that on rail climing was created to hide loading screens on console games, yet devs didn´t get the memo and though it was an actual gameplay mechanich people were craving for. And thus every triple A third person has to try to chog it into our thoaths, cause that´s how out of touch the top devs and CEOs ordering them around actually are from their costumers.
3:35 same as assassin focus in ac mirage, i don't love it or hate because you can still do everything without. 33:40 same problem with ghost of tsushima quest which i hate because it ruins a lot of good idea to finish the quest. One more thing i love the video ❤ 3 months is a lot and deserve much more viewe
In Mirage (which I have but haven't installed yet), does the ability work in the open or do you have to start in cover. I got the impression that it only worked on unaware enemies. The problem with Star Wars Outlaws is the adrenaline is the only way to fire from the speeder and, on foot, only works during combat. So Ghost of Tsushima also has bordered quest areas?! I was thinking of getting Ghost soon. Thanks for the ❤
@MediaKitGaming the assassin focus is stealth ability so it's only work if you out of conflict but you need at least one bar of focus (adrenaline) to work.
Thanks for saving me money. I was just about to buy the game when I decided to look for reviews. Made my decision within like 5 minutes into your video and kept watching just to see how bad it was. You've got a new fan!
It's worth pointing out... part of my script, I ended up editing out, was a part where I pointed out that there is a large collection of Outlaws fans on Reddit who basically start their posts with “glad I didn't listen to the reviews”, all claiming that they love the game.
Thanks. Views has a lot more to do with popularity than quality. And the Outlaws iron was hot 6 months ago. Wa'da'ya' gonna do? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It's the video I wanted to make.
Well done video covering the aspects of the game. And its glaring flaws holding it back. I recently finished the game myself. Its not terrible, Just average overall. Could of been great with more fleshed out mechanics and time.
I still think the first open-world Star Wars game should have been a bounty hunter game. In my opinion, it would have opened up so much character customization, upgrades, story paths, consequences, and places to explore. I'll play this game once it is on a deep-deep sale.
A bounty hunter game would rock! But, IMO, the concept isn't what failed this game… bounty hunter vs scoundrel… doesn't actually matter. It was their approach to gameplay. If this team had made a bounty hunter game instead, we'd just have a disappointing bounty hunter game. No concept is so good that it can't be sunk by poor execution. No concept is so bland that it can't be saved with creative gameplay.
Basically all the criticism is fair but the space combat if you are gonna say it's bad you need to unlock the mechanics and try it that before saying it bad, the space combat gets better once you unlock the mechanics, look I'm not saying it's great and you aren't far off, but if you are gonna say to the devs "it's parts of the job" then you need to be held to the same standard, to review and ACCURATELY describe the problems of this game you need to use the mechanics it's "PART OF THE JOB" double standard my guy, and I'm inclined to agree with you on a lot of what you have to say BUT you need to be held to the same standards you hold others to.
No, “my guy”. I unlocked all ship mechanics except for the 2 I mentioned. 1) a dodge that dodges wider than the default & 2) a “top roll maneuver” that positions the trailblazer behind pursuers. None of my criticisms were about not being able to dodge wider or about difficulty trading places with enemies at the rear. That second one BTW, would only hurt the game's case, as it does not need yet another mechanic that does the work for the player. A free “press-this-button to place targets directly in front of your forward-locked guns.” My complaints were about basic maneuverability, strafing, reverse, move up & down on the Y axis. Also a player-amiable turret, and scenarios that made sense for a small freighter: hiding in capital ship blind spots, weaving space obstacles to lose attackers, and flying inside capital ships. But go ahead, make the case that those 2 upgrades fix those issues. I mentioned the 2 locked maneuvers in my script precisely so viewers would have all the information. If a viewer of my video agrees that space combat sucks but, “Wow, those 2 roll maneuvers would make all the difference” then I've provided them the information to reach that conclusion.
@MediaKitGaming I went back and checked your video to be sure, you basically said you can unlock a roll mechanic and "loop dee loop" but you didn't because "fuck your flight simulator" or something like that, still proves my point you didn't bother to unlock the mechanics and use them. Doing that is "part of the job" instead of getting defensive with me just do your job. If you are going to put that expectation on others you need to do it as well, because I have played the game and unlocked those, it's not anything to write home about but it does change combat and that's why it's worth it and I feel can change the results if even a little, regardless if you hold others to your standard of "it's part of the job" I'm just holding you to your standard and if you don't like that, well you have yourself to blame. Also "my guy" 😂 bro calm down 😂😂 your defensiveness is showing 🎉 Great review otherwise and I really like a lot of the suggestions you had to make the game better and I wish Ubisoft would have done something else besides what it did. Thanks for getting back to me Cheers 🎉
@@matthewwebster3143 Well, you kinda took the wind out of my sails with your last paragraph. Funny how being kind can redirect an exchange. So now I have to rewrite everything I just wrote… with a different tone. Your compliment is kindly received. To your point: Your thesis is: I cannot have an opinion on the game unless I've unlocked and used every feature. Respectfully, I reject this assertion. Few if any reviewers 100% a game before opining on it. We don't expect them to, and I don't hold myself to that standard either. I well and truly played most of the game. I passed on multiple sidequests and completed many others. I didn't unearth every hidden crate but found quite a few. Do those also invalidate my position? I maintain that my criticisms of the space combat are legit, and by not sampling 2 flight features, which the game explained how they worked, does not invalidate my arguments. I judged that they would not change combat enough to sway my conclusions. At no point did I claim I would review every feature. Adding to my defense, is your own experience with those features which you described as “not anything to write home about.” If, as you say, they “change the results [of space combat] if even a little” well, it just reinforces my position that unlocking them was not an important part of judging the space combat. Yes, I was being defensive. That's what follows an accusation. I can accept the accusation, ignore it, or defend. I could have been gentler about it, but I didn't feel like your accusation was gentle in nature. I might have misread you. Thank you for sharing your POV and again for your complementary words at the end. All the best…
I bought Star Wars Outlaws precisely because I wanted to make a video about it. Without this channel, it would probably still be on my waitlist. I knew from the reviews that it didn't have drivable vehicles, that it dropped guns, and you couldn't shoot from the speeder. Other issues, like the bordered mission areas, were a complete surprise to me after I started playing it. But as indicated at the beginning of this video, I've enjoyed many past Ubisoft games.

LOL - I love the idea that we’re in a universe where a crutch to hide asset loading became a “feature” due to a misunderstanding.

all of these points would be awesome for a sequel, which we will probably never get
This is the game that broke me, both for Star Wars and Ubisoft. Neither will get launch day money from me ever again.
