I was going to dedicate this channel to video essays about games AND movies. My first movie video got copyright blocked and that kinda killed it for me. GAMES IT IS THEN! I talk about games, game mechanics, what makes a game good or bad, what games should have been, could have been, missed opportunities, and welcome surprises. But this is not a review site. There are enough of those. I post monthly, at best, because I put a ton of animation and editing into my essays. They are meant to be entertaining and thought-provoking. I invite you to subscribe. You'll get fewer than 12 notifications/year of new content.

When is an RPG not an RPG?

When I compared Bethesda games to other open-world games, various commenters called foul for comparing RPGs to action games, claiming they have nothing in common. So, what then is an RPG? Watch Dogs vs Watch Dogs 2, Which game watch dogged better?
sekrioooo is my personal fav played that shiii more than 20 times with mods and at times with my friend who playes keybord and i usually play mouse complete the game within 2 to 1 day doing those gounlets with with my friends was defnitly best memory i have in those times
The every 1st PC game ive ever played in my entire life
I'm going to cry from the fact that i spent so much time looking for this game for years as i only remebred her funny hairstyle from my childhood...my man, you deserve a medal.
I remember really enjoying Oni
The sound of Konoko running takes me back holy shit
"You're gonna get beat by a girl." I still play Oni till this day.
Last Oasis, has a very complex melee combat
Best combat system ever is in God Hand 😊
Great video! A fun thing worth mentioning about Oni is that you get access to a bunch of great cheats once you beat the game, one of those cheats lets you play as any character you come across in the game along with their ENTIRE moveset! You can play as brawlers and throw people around, you can play as the boss characters and use their signature moves etc. It adds further variety to an already complex and fun combat system.
Sleeping Dogs was the best for me. The melee in the open world was really smooth and fun. Environmental takedowns were dynamic and gruesome, lol.

laughs in Resident Evil 5
believe it or not if u look at beta games, bully might've had the Best melee combat in any video game ever game. the alpha concept for combat was removed but still can be seen from the files which were More than exciting yet disappointing that it was never put in the game
Been there, done that :)
Oni was great, but my favourite melee combat system has to be zeno clash 2 still
Wow this game literally is the best example of a shooter with extremely in depth and intuitive combat. This game should be studied.
Nice to know! I would suggest Severance: Blade of Darkness. Free on Prime Gaming now! Great Melee combat system too!
I mean this just looks like they took street fighter and tekken commands and put them into a 3d action game. Not that its a bad thing, just that there are tons of games before and since that have done this. I guess what makes this unique is that its a western dev and they are using mouse and keyboard? Aside from that, I don't see too much different from a devil may cry, godhand, or any number of old beat em ups. I'm surprised bungie made a game like this though, I'm pretty impressed. It's like a simpler god hand where you can pick up guns instead of like pipes or whatever.
I remember playing the demo for this about a hundred times.
The best i have ever played. If we need a real remake, just do for Oni Remake ❤
Pretty bold assertion in a world where character action games like DMC (or even brawlers like Yakuza) exist, but I respect it. Definitely a hot take.
Oni, Evil Islands, Grandia 2 and No One Lives Forever were one of my favourites back then. All came out roughly at the same time and were extremely fun. I have no idea how many times I've replayed them.
proof that game devs are mentally retarded. to me, this was always the obvious way for how to make satisfying and simple melee combat, and i always wondered why they make games so shit like they have yet to unlock thinking
Damn, I am now realising, MK Shaoilin Monks copied a lot from this game 😱😱
You forgot that using cheatcodes could unlock ALL characters and weapons aswell. Each character having their own throws/combos/skills. Ahead of its time. Definately needs a remaster
This is such an underrated game fr
1: personally i use ESDF, as opposed to WASD, its just logical when you think about it, it's the natural typing position, so really WASD is the anomaly 2: beyond that i use pinky on A = sprint toggle, thumb on Alt = crouch, i can thus always perform crouch slides with ease 3: also i use slim keys, not those hideous outdated chunky things, slim keys are superior in every way, and ESDF is apparently more comfortable on slim keys
One of the first games I played and the first I beat. My brother, sister and I would take turns playing on our single family computer.
this combat system reminds me of the one in Death By Degrees for PS2, but that's sort of a Tekken spin-off, so that doesn't count
Shadow fight: re mastered, revised, re third dimensionalized, re everything
first time i see this game is on PSX console. never knew there is PC version.
Bring this game back! I used to love playing this game!
Older games had one of the best game covers artwork
hummmmm... devil may cry?
Amanda Ripley has more skill to survive her environment than the new Lara Croft .... And Lara is supposed to be the top apex tomb raider character... These game are stupid, and I don't get why they included these stupid little quick event where you need to press buttons to avoid falling rocks or climb wall fast, etc. It sucks and render the game more of a bad experience. But some people like it if they made 3 of theses.
I was a kid, I pirate all my games. One day I play Oni and when I finish it, I gather all my saving and go out and buy the original copy. I still have it. My first game (that I bough with my own money heh). Today I dont have CD on my PC, ah the irony...
Hands down best combat is Ghost Of Tsushima , it’s not even close
I had the joy of playing this on the PS2 and still have it. Thank goodness for the PS3 with reverse compatibility
The only one i liked after this was G of tsushima. If you played it on hard and did it right, like chill and counter use the proper stance for a bad guy, change stance mid fight and counter the other guy kniw the combos for each kind of guy. That was the shit.
I've told people this game was the tits (back in the day) way ahead of its time. We were still playing tekken 2 and resident evil 2
The most wildly underrated game of its time
Dude I kept telling people this game existed and no one knew. Oni was dope
I remember this game...i was young andy brother rented it for the Playstation 2 and...i never got it the controls sound so much easier on pc then controller.
G.I.T.S for the PS2 is the same.
You need to play Pizza Kidd too...
One of the few games I played multiple times.
I finished it so many times.
Bro forgor yakuza
What game have best melee combat? Easy, God Hand Also, imo, Warrior Within have similar but refined combat
This game was dumb hard tho lol
1. Running Lariat move was my favourite. 2. Devil Spin Kick. Her shout out is forever in my mind :) 3. Mercury bow... the best! But I sooo hated when npcs had them. They were really good at sniping you, especially on one roof level. 4. Whining about games in early 2000th??? DUDE! wth? You lost my respect. Games WERE harder, it's not like games today for pussies where you get health after each stage or regenerate it. Total: this game was vey, VERY underrated. When the graphic was at par, this game was the bomb! Now it brings back happy memories, but I wouldn't play it. Game mechanics - was very good, with all the moves etc. Story... it has a story. Not the best one, but still better than some of AAA games from 2020+. This game remings me of Sudeki, also a great game
I found the level design in this game to be very baron
