If I decide to buy the game it will be because of the story and haunting Cases and because dontnod deserves credit for trying something new.
I am about halfway through the game and totally agree with your review. The writing and overall presentation are excellent, but it’s hurt by the really boring character progression systems. I am so sick of collecting plants and scraps of leather in games like this. 😆
Totally Agree. Very good review. One of my issues is how slow the skill upgrade system is. Overall, I enjoy the game but felt there could have been better options with how upgrades were done. Also you hit the nail on the head about weapons. I felt this was another missed opportunity. The game is big and they could have added more weapons/armor options that would have enhanced the fun factor.

while the big AAA studios in the US close and fire people the European and asian AA is rocking the scene... it is quite a shift lately in my op. I just started this one for a couple hours and it's really incredible 50 guys could pull this off. But also Lords of the Fallen... Lies of P... ok Inquisitor's demo kinda sucked let's be honest but well... Concerning Anthea her name intrigues me: Anthea was quite a b** in greek mixology I wonder what this one is gonna end up being ... and naturally we have a black protagonist as we wanna be inclusive but she has blue eyes because we cannot really make her black right? I dunno why does inclusiveness always have to be so sloppily implemented?

Unfortunately Don't Nod cannot design engaging gameplay to save their lives. Couldn't care less about LIFE IS CRINGE, and only liked the first half of Vampyr. Level design & awful gameplay takes a dive shortly after. Plus the story is ultimately disappointing. Awful gameplay stops me from deeply appreciating their games. This one is a get on DEEP SALE for me.
