I was timid to upgrade to OLED for a long time as I find I've gotten used to leaving my IPS/TN monitors on for long periods of time, but OLED has changed my life. I'm actually watching content on my main monitor again (youtube videos, tv shows, etc) that I found I wasn't when using a benq TN for the competitive edge it offers. I think this is the perfect balance of leaning towards a really strong competitive monitor, but being really solid for media consumption too. I just use all the OLED health features I can, and turn the monitor off when I walk away from my desk although my PC may still be on. I went with the 1440p 360hz MSI btw, and I couldn't be happier with my decision.
Hello Dave, the Benq monitor you used had DyAc+ right? How does that motion clarity compare to the one on the OLED for competitive? That's the only thing that's holding me back from getting an OLED, the Asus PG27AQDM precisely.

Love the 27" Alienware AW2725DF QD-OLED 360Hz monitor. Perfect contrast, 0.3ms response times, brilliant vivid colors, glossy finish, lightning responsiveness, all in a beautiful incasing with typical gaming features and a solid 3 year warranty. Best purchase in years. Go with a WOLED panel if you're in a bright room, it's a brighter panel good with reflections. If brightness isn't a main concern QD-OLED makes games and content pop with it's incredible color gamut and volume. It's beautiful,
the 540hz being one of your favourites isn't really a surprise, that smoothness just makes the game feel natural and you will eventually get used to the resolution and just focus on clicking heads
Keep in mind what games you mainly play when you get one of these monitors though and what your PC can handle. Apex for example is hardcapped at 300 FPS, and that's if you can even reach that high.
I still don't understand what got into these glossy defenders. We've been fine using IPS monitors with matte coating for years, then OLED comes along and all of a sudden matte coatings are the worst thing to ever happen even though they are even better than on IPS monitors...

The LG has a cleaner aesthetic without any logo on the front but no USB-C port which is very annoying. Would buy it in a heart beat if it had a type C to connect my work laptop when I work from home. Almost perfect
FYI there are tail-less USB-C female to DisplayPort male (or HDMI) adapters that can make this easy, and they also have USB-PD input that they forward to the laptop. This could be a nice way to connect to such a display. I prefer the bring my own cable boring nice Thunderbolt cable vs having specialized cables for this kind of thing. The downside is they are only rated to 4k60 but I'm not sure if that's really a limit or just what usb-c was rated for at the time; I tend to think it's a pure electrical connection & not going to limit things more than what your laptop would do. My model is listed as ChenYang CY.
Not an issue. I am using it for work and connect to my laptop and gaming pc. I just bought a displayport to usb c cable for the laptop and it solved the issue. 10 bucks only.

The best gaming monitor is the one I have. Because I have it and can game on it it is much better than the best monitors that I don’t have and cannot game on. This is my monitor. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
I've had an oled tv as my main monitor for over two years now and it's been really great. I think people get too caught up on the gaming aspect when what they really want is more fidelity over speed. If you can afford it, oled is such a huge upgrade for content consumption followed by the resolution and the screen size .
one thing to note about the QD-OLED panels is that it can cause really bad eye strain. countless people, including me, have experienced this and have had to return the monitor for this reason
All you had to do was adjust the settings in the monitor to alleviate that. I actually just got a hold of one of the qd oled asus monitors for cheap because someone returned it complained about eye pains and they wouldn't take it back so the guy left it and charge back on his card. The store manager didn't want to deal with it decided to sale it half off as an open box.
I just bought Gigabyte's version of the 32" 4K 240Hz OLED. It's great, but be prepared to be very annoyed at the text fringing if you use it for anything but games. It's very noticeable and almost made me return it. It applies to all the QD-OLED panels, so it doesn't matter which one you get.
I got the ASUS XG27AQDMG some days ago and couldn't be happier. Is my perfect monitor. Being WOLED and glossy makes the blacks extremely deep even in a bright room.
Honestly i found optimum just through pc building stuff but now I’m thoroughly enjoying watching videos of monitors, keyboards, and everything inbetween that i probably wont buy
Best gaming/tech youtuber easily. Probably the only person on this entire platform who's opinion I trust on these things. I used to like hardware unboxed but I just can't get over tim saying the text is better on the 4k qd oled's than w oleds, it's just mental imo. I tried both and the qd oled colour fringing was TERRIBLE
A 32 inch or UWQHD monitor that I can use in a bright room (Window at my back and I cannot avoid that - plus it needs to be open in hot humid summer for air) would be good to know. But all I hear about is OLED and W OLED .... latest, massively expensive and not great in s bright room. Any suggestions or is that old tech now
I got the LG coming from 540hz /360hz/ 4K 144hz. I can confirm that the LG is worth every penny It's like having 2 monitors in one. If u have a high-end PC & Money just buy it, it will take you a few days to get used to it due to the size but I ended up pushing it a bit further, and that worked for me. You can switch from 4K to 1080p mid-game with no issue unless u have a second monitor Sometimes ur game will switch to 2nd me monitor just saying
Optimum’s initial review of the LG 1440p 240hz OLED convinced me to buy it around Black Friday and I’m beyond happy with it. It’s the perfect blend for cinematic singeplayer games and competitive games. I don’t see I point in buying 240hz+ monitors when most games don’t even reach those frames. The value of it is amazing for premium the performance is for the dropping price. Definitely recommended for wanting an amazing monitor that’s not beyond overkill
Well you just talked about competitive games…esports monitors are designed with the intent of having the lowest input lag and latency possible which incidentally means having the highest refresh rate. Besides the competitive advantage it gives you the best experience as well. Anywho that’d be the point of monitors with a 240hz+ refresh rate. Games like cs2 valorant cod Fortnite and many others run at over 240hz.
its crazy ever since Oled hits the monitor market we been getting so many good monitor in other panel type at a very competitive price, even the top tier OLed isn't too bad considered mini-led flagship from years ago can cost way more then 1k.
I got the LG OLED in January, least responsible financial decision i have made this year, but DAMN. It looks SO good. My expectations were high, but it delivered everything I expected and more. I was using UltraGear 27GP850-B (1440p 185hz IPS) which is pretty decent, but the oled blew just me away. Never going back to older technologies for my primary display. One thing worth researching before you buy however is the flickering issue with freesync/gsync, Im not sure about the newer generation, but you cannot really use variable refresh rate on the older LG models - the brightness noticeably flickers all the time. So even if the panel is g-sync compatible, you will have a bad time if you expect it to work flawlessly. I personally just turned it off all together.
Pixel Sound seems like such a huge win. Yeah i want my display to be a large speaker! Such a huge value add versus needing a clunky expensive soundbar.

@@kevan4259I’m pretty sure that most oled have amazing motion clarity but I’m not sure if the exact model you mentioned does
Yeah optimum time!
Always nice to see optimum post
i’m switching from a 1080p 240hz Benq Zowie to the 1440p 360hz MSI model. This video hypes me up for it even more considering I bought the no. 2 recommended monitor before watching this video. can’t wait to see the difference from my 1080 TN to a 1440 OLED!!
How’d it go
@ it’s amazing
Optimum really deserves WAYYY more subs than he has, hands down among the best YT tech channels out there. ❤
I was just looking to upgrade my LG monitor to a OLED and look what you upload!
The visual quality on these videos are unmatched
Love the 27" Alienware AW2725DF QD-OLED 360Hz monitor. Perfect contrast, 0.3ms response times, brilliant vivid colors, glossy finish, lightning responsiveness, all in a beautiful incasing with typical gaming features and a solid 3 year warranty. Best purchase in years.
Go with a WOLED panel if you're in a bright room, it's a brighter panel good with reflections. If brightness isn't a main concern QD-OLED makes games and content pop with it's incredible color gamut and volume. It's beautiful,
i always appreciate ur b roll, its actually so well done
they were thought carefully before recording, and retaken if not satisfactory, but videos turned to be that way, not sure if i have to retake or not

@@iikatinggangsengii2471 I think ur 2nd comment didn't go to the correct place
Coming to a video about Oled and walking away more impressed by a TN panel is crazy, but that 540hz is something else
short and explains everything with crazy good production value, thats why he's the GOAT 🐐
i can do better, but thanks, optimum gives cool ideas too, i also recommend old linus and jayz2cents videos, theyre alot more entertaining
your ability to explain difficult concepts in an easy way is unparalleled!
Optimum is what I actually wanted when I was watching LTT
I'm currently using the PG27AQDM. I've had all sorts of high performance monitors for my time - this one trounces them all. Incredible.
the 540hz being one of your favourites isn't really a surprise, that smoothness just makes the game feel natural and you will eventually get used to the resolution and just focus on clicking heads
Imagine buying an ugly ass TN panel in 2024...
@@drunkhusband6257 imagine buying an ugly ass ultrawide

Keep in mind what games you mainly play when you get one of these monitors though and what your PC can handle. Apex for example is hardcapped at 300 FPS, and that's if you can even reach that high.

Yo buddy, you gotta drop that workout routine man! You look absolutely massive!

I've bought the Aorus FO27Q3, 360 Hz 1440p 27 inch OLED, one button KVM switch, one button switch to 24 inch mode. No complaints, absolute dream unit
Thank u for mentioning the antics of the glossy vs matte neurotics.
For real they are insane… just get what you want everyone has different preferences…
@@dustinnguyen5901 they make it hellish for first time buyers to decide on a monitor
It was mostly glossy fanbois that have zero experience with these new semi-matte ones. They're just spewing nonsense.
I still don't understand what got into these glossy defenders. We've been fine using IPS monitors with matte coating for years, then OLED comes along and all of a sudden matte coatings are the worst thing to ever happen even though they are even better than on IPS monitors...
@@Avioto It's tribalism. The internet is rampant with it and it just keeps getting worse. So many confidently incorrect people too. Just a lot of trash out there.
Hey! I kinda forgot about it but seeing you talk about monitors again made it resurface in my mind, but thank you for your recommandations.
I bought the aoc agon pro ag276qzd oled monitor you recommended quite some time ago, and i have to say i'm incredibly happy with this purchase. it was the only oled within my price range but i honestly have no complains about it, it also being my first oled purchase. As an example i've played Elden Ring in hdr with it and have been mindblown how beautiful it looks. Even without HDR, the contrast is simply exceptional and i feel like i couldn't go back to a classic panel. So yeah, thank you for your work, it definitely helped me make a purchase i'm happy about!
I actually hoped for this video to come out since I'm choosing a monitor right now

untill you get the 16 hours pixel clean popup on screen not beeing able to cancel it. 10 Min black monitor for doing the cycle.
@@DRIFT9LE you can cancel it. Just set it up correctly.
@@dantay_____tv If you set it up to max hours that is 16. you will get forced to do the cycle. So either you have to choose between pest or kolera. Get the popup in the middle of your screen every 4 hours able to postpone/cancel up to 16 hours max. or put 16 hours and not beeing able to cancel it. This is very annoying when you play competative games. I have sent MSI an ticket to make them change this popup so it dont pop up in the middle of the screen. And i also suggested them to put 15 hours use and make it possible to postpone 30-60 mins.
@@dantay_____tv You have to chose between the following: Get popup every 4 hours: max postpone to 16 hours which will force you to do the pixcel cleanup. better than LG 27GS? I mostly do productivity/a little gaming/youtube watching. I just want a QD-OLED over an LCD. But i also really want a 27" 4K QD-OLED with the new RGB design for text fringing
I had the alienware 1440p 360hz oled and sold it for the 540hz zowie and lemme tell u he is not wrong about this thing being one of the most fluid looking monitors. The cost was out there but It looks as smooth as real life.

@@Natureboy8383 never had a c3. We have a 65" C2 and and it looks pretty close to the same. Maybe just a little bit better. But I think the main thing about the C4 is it does 144hz where the C2 and C3 do 120hz.

Can you recommend some ultra wide screen OLED Gaming monitors?
The best gaming monitor is the one I have. Because I have it and can game on it it is much better than the best monitors that I don’t have and cannot game on. This is my monitor. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
I finally upgraded my PG279Q this year to the PG32UDM and I’m in love. It had been a long time since I bought a new gaming monitor
I’m wondering how the setup for orange light ? How and where or what are you using can i know ? Because it’s amazing
How long did you use it? I have had one for about 3 weeks and it went away. It really intrigues me that some people can't get used to it.
I bought pg32ucdm before 4 days and i got same problem, my eyes got tired so quickly 😢
@@Dugga_Official What settings?

Dual resolution monitors, or being able to switch to two different resolutions based on needs is awesome!
Would you still recommend the ViewSonic AG2431 as the best budget 240hz 24in monitor?

I have a big window on my room and having a matte monitor helps a lot when gaming during the day.
Got the 32' Alienware QD-OLED and it's the best upgrade I could've done for my system. Insanely good looking screen.
I have the same monitor and the text is extremely clear and well defined.

A 32 inch or UWQHD monitor that I can use in a bright room (Window at my back and I cannot avoid that - plus it needs to be open in hot humid summer for air) would be good to know. But all I hear about is OLED and W OLED .... latest, massively expensive and not great in s bright room. Any suggestions or is that old tech now
Appears to still be an issue.
You can switch from 4K to 1080p mid-game with no issue unless u have a second monitor Sometimes ur game will switch to 2nd me monitor just saying

could you do budget monitors next?
The Alienware 360hz 1080p ips are pretty budget rn like 329$ anything oled is going to be in the 500$ range and up
can't wait till OLED monitors will finally be affordable in a few years.

I seen Destiny 2, is it worth hopping back in ?

its crazy ever since Oled hits the monitor market we been getting so many good monitor in other panel type at a very competitive price, even the top tier OLed isn't too bad considered mini-led flagship from years ago can cost way more then 1k.
Been rocking the Samsung 34" Odyssey G85SB QD-OLED since release, and it's phenomonal!
You should do a setup review, i loved watching those videos
Such a huge value add versus needing a clunky expensive soundbar.
got the LG one because of the stand - flat small stand is important when you want to use the desk for stuff
its pretty good!
