They both have already failed once so I don't think it likely to happen again. However, I wouldn't put it past Nintendo to kill either Link or Zelda by the end of BotW2 and have the leftover character go it alone to finish the job in the 3rd. IF there is a 3rd.
I actually like Commonwealth Realm's theory that Breath of the Wild 2 will actually be the 3rd game in the same writer's trilogy, starting with Skyward Sword as the first one. I think it was also supported with the fact that the Master Sword had Fi's voice when it called out to Zelda after Link almost died. I personally hope that Breath of the Wild 2 will be the last in that trilogy because it's cool to think the first game in the Zelda timeline will also be concluded with the (as of yet) last game in the timeline. Still, I would never say no to more Breath of the Wild games!
Yeah i liked Commonwealths theory too and it would make sense in terms of the Zelda timeline but from a business prospective i certainly wouldn't rule out another Breath Of The Wild after Breath Of the Wild 2. :)
@@ZelRando oh no doubt! I certainly hope they intend of doing a sequel, or at the very least take the roots if Breath of the Wild and branch out into more Zelda games with their own themes and designs like they've always done, but with Breath of the Wild as the new keystone piece for it like Ocarina of Time was. At least that was what I was thinking they'd do if Breath of the Wild 2 is indeed the end of this particular Link and Zelda story.
Do you think that Link and Zelda will fail in Breath Of The Wild 2? I personally hope so as i would really love to see a 3rd instalment, what do you guys think? :)
They already failed on the first part of the game but i would love to see a twilight princess type game made maybe for next year to be announced in development. Finger cross a cornavirus free year
Well I‘d love seeing a game or even series where the protagonist fail or even a important charakter die. I think it makes it even more interessting and emotional. If they really fail in botw 2, my only consern would be how they would recycle the whole world again and make it feel new for the third time. Not that it isn‘t possible, but maybe if there would be a third title that it would be a time skip or even going back in time or idk 😂 Now im just speculating but i love the idea of a third part of it. A wonder that nobody else thought of it yet..
What about, if Zelda dies in BOTW 2 and Ganondorf fleas Hyrule and goes to a different realm and Link follows him to end it once and for all, that way a whole new map could be created with interesting plots and new characters 8D
I just had a crazy theory on the way to work: Say each games story depicts how each character, zelda, ganon and link, would use the full triforce at their grasp. What if in the sequel ganon somehow obtains all triforce parts like in link to the past? Then botw 3 would have link use all 3 parts? I know it seems far-fetched and highly unlikely, but could make for very dramatic story!
That's not Ganondorf in the BotW2 trailer. That corpse is not leaking Malice...the Malice is seeping INTO the corpse while "the hand" is trying to prevent this. That hand's power joins with Link to protect him instead from the Malice infused corpse which is inevitably beyond saving now The Great Calamity Ganon is not around to redirect the Malice anymore. The corpse is actually...well...you'll see. That's one "spoiler" too many. Stay shiny ;-)
@@ZelRando The music was initially widely presumed to be backwards. Perhaps everything we think we see in the teaser is equally...not what it seems? I so want Ganondorf to return though. It could be him though...he IS currently "dead" in every timeline.
Considering that breath of the wild features a whole other story where Link and Zelda failed 100 years prior, them doing it in another fashion or possibly screwing up to create breath of the wild 2 is possible. Also another awesome theory Zelda
I would love to have a third Breath of the Wild game, I don't want the second game to end with Link and Zelda failing. Who wants to play a game where you lose in the end either way? If it does end that way, then BotW2 will be a flop. It needs to end in some sort of victory, but the type depends on if Nintendo already has plans for a third game. If they don't, then Botw2 needs a traditional ending of Link defeating Ganondorf. But if they do plan on Breath of the Wild 3, then BotW2 can end in a bittersweet victory. Here's my idea on how it could end. It's the final boss. Link and Ganondorf are fighting with all their might. Zelda is their too, either held captive or helping Link. Link is about to deal the final blow with the Master Sword. As soon and the attack hits Ganondorf, there is a blinding flash of light, and all goes silent. When the light fades away, all that's left is Zelda and the Master Sword. She calls out for Link, but there is no reply. Realizing that Link is gone, Zelda fall to her knees and cries. Peace has been restored to Hyrule, but a great price. After the credits roll, we come upon a new scene. Zelda in on the bed in Links house. She is clutching the Master Sword and depressed over what happened to Link. Suddenly, she hears something. It is the voice from the Master Sword. It is telling her that Link is still alive. Zelda is shocked by this, but then asks, "How can I save him?" This allows you to win the game, but also leads to a new game. As an added bonus, the next game will be a reversal, because Zelda has to save Link.
Eh, could be. My theory, though, is that "BotW 2" will be the game that finally puts an end to Demise´s curse, and frees up future titles to do new tings unrelated to the cyclical curse. By the time the next main game after "BotW 2" comes along, we will be well into the next console anyway, and it will be time for a new engine.
That's a very interesting point but they kind of proved they can do new things and still sell Zelda titles without the linear story when they released Majora's Mask
@@ZelRando Oh, for sure. It just feels to me like they´re ready to do away with the concept of Demise´s curse and really unshackle the franchise for the future at this point. With how extremely late on the timeline BotW is, it just feels like this will be Ganon´s final grand moment, you know.
@@ZelRando They´ve also talked quite a bit about how story gets low priority when it comes to developing Zelda games, because they´d rather make sure to create a fun and polished game than having to adhere to some framework set by what came before. And that´s exactly what Demise´s curse represents: It essentially means that most Zelda games will have to feature a clash between the current incarnation of Hylia and her hero, and the current incarnation of Demise. Which would surely be very limiting to the development team´s creative freedom in the long run. That´s why I feel like it´s just time in this game to bring that whole 30 year arc to a close.
@@steaktastebetterpill I understand what you mean but it would be interesting to see how Nintendo would switch it up and still keep Zelda true to it's roots, i think it's definitely possible though

BOTW Sequel = Ganondorf's Story
BOTW 3 = Link's Story ?

I'd be down for this. But the real question is whether we would stay in Hyrule for all three games? Or go to a different place in the third game?
I would hope that if Breath Of The Wild 3 did happen it wouldn't be set in Hyrule :P
