As well as Nintendo's Mario Maker proved there is a market for gamers who DO want to create their own little games, or levels, and Streamers who'd LOVE to play those levels too; free marketing right there. I like the idea of giving Little Big Planet to Team Asobi, in order to bring some new life into it; and maybe be a great tool for creatives, to make 3D game levels, like Mario Maker is great for 2D game levels. In terms of monetization, all the need to do allow players to either unlock cosmetics/costumes to be used in game with in-game currency, or just outright buy with for cheap, or maybe unlock some more creative skins for the levels: Uncharted style or Ratchet and Clank style for example. There's a lot they could do with something like this, and could be easy money too.
I just hope Astro Bot’s success lets Sony or other game devs invest more into platformers. Its a genre that I think should always be apart of gaming no matter how great modern hardware has gotten
Never fogot Little Big Planet. I even have that turquoise PSP with the pouch. It was awesome ! Also, the thumbnail and the title of this video are so clever and creative.
God, this hits even harder after learning the news of LittleBigPlanet 3 and every single DLC for the entire series being delisted this month. It really does feel like Sony showing off Sackboy one more time as a cameo in Astro Bot and then shooting him right after. You do not know how nervous I am for the future of LittleBigPlanet.
I remember buying the first LBP on day one for the PS3, and was completely enamored. I loved the whole series, and it's always been my number one to see a new game, even after everything I've played on the PS5 & PC.
wish list for little big planet 4: - purple logo - doesnt corrupt your entire profile if you jump too hard - isn't almost entirely soulless - isn't made solely to rake in money
I’ve been playing Sackboy: A Big Adventure for past year and is still so damn good. Incredibly hard at times.. just all around holds its own super well vs today’s games. Will always love lbp tho so amazing esp in its day
I honestly don't mind. Asobi studio used to be Japan studio responsible for parappa the rapper, loco roco, shadow of the colossus, ape escape and now astro bot. They earned their place as the mascot of playstation.
Sackboy did costumes of other PlayStation characters first, AstroBot is shaped like Sackboy so much and the world of. Astrobot borrows a lot from LBP. I love AstroBot, but man did they do Sackboy dirty
Loco Roco was so fun though 😂. I wish they did more unique stuff with those levels like Wipeout and Parappa. I didn’t need GoW, Horizon and Uncharted, one of them would have been fine.
You hit the nail on the head. We can have big AAA games and smaller scale games. At the end of the day like you and many others, I just want variety. I love Ghost of Tsushima and it’s quickly become my top PS franchise. But I absolutely want Sly Cooper standing next to Jin Sakai
The game mechanics introduced in the first two LBP games were HUGE at the time. I equate it to when BOTW came out. I spent so much time playing LBP back in high school with my buddy. We made so many different levels. I'll never forget the online community for those games when they were in their prime. So many fun and creative levels. We even tried to create water in the first one using different materials at different sizes... Didn't work. But when LBP 2 came out, it's mechanics added so much to the community. We finally had water among other things. I'll never forget those games. Those years were truly a renaissance for video games as a whole.
Sackboy: a big adventure came out in 2020 and is a brilliant platformer with couch Co-Op and lots of end game support and mastery challenges. Not sure why everyone is acting like its a dead franchise. 4 years without a game entry is nothing compared to some things we see in the industry today.
10 years without a mainline game entry. SABA is a spin-off. A fun spin-off game, but it doesn't give people what they want out of the LBP series which is community created content. The LBP IP may not be dead, but so far there's no indication the main series of games isn't. The servers were also shut down, which is why people consider the series dead. It's not like there's no new games but you can still play the old ones, you can't play the old ones to their full extent on official servers either.
@pout6038 I understand the liking for community created content. But you really think A Big Adventure isn't a mainline game and that it's a side project basically? That couldn't be any further from the truth. It's got more than double the content of Little Big Planet 3. It's very literally the biggest and most flushed out full game in the entire series.
@@larryhouse3776The user generated content of LBP literally makes it LBP. LBP is not defined by it's story mode, it's defined by it's slogan "Play, create, share". SABA only features the Play part. It is not mainline.
I miss Little Big Planet, I was mainly on Nintendo growing up, but Little Big Planet was that one outlier where I played 2, 3, and Karting with my cousins on their Ps3 growing up. Even though it was only a few weekends a year, I'd play Lbp with them. It has its charm that made it memorable for me throughout growing up.
I remember, before I actually had a PS3, my mom got my brother AC Brotherhood and I got Little Big Planet. Around Christmas we finally got the PS3 and a couple extra games, and we were able to play them. To me LBP 1 was hard as a kid the further you got in the game, but I got my hands on LBP2 and instantly fell in love. I remember playing the demo and just being like "I need this!". Sure I had Wrestling and LEGO games on the PS2 I grew up with, games I still love and and both were a "go-to" to play, but LBP was a strange case. It was strange because it was a different, calming video game. And it spoke to me like no other game did. It just felt right to be apart of and experience. It really was different, and it was special.
my issue with dreams is that it wasn't a game engine. I loved it but as someone who works in game engines to make produces like games. there was very limited reason to learn it outside of my own enjoyment. if dreams had been an engine with a license where I could sell anything I could make it in, I would either use it as a tool to create assets for another engine or as the engine itself. it has so much protentional locked away inside a game that has no reason for real developers to play
dude this made me feel happy that people still care about lbp and are making games similar to it and that people still have hopes for lbp4 we need media molecule back. i hope astro bot gives nostalgia to lbp that playstation remebers how amazing lbp was and how much we let our dreams fly wildly by building them. short term "Great Video"
LBP 1 and 2 we're awesome! I made some pinball level on LBP2 and it got pretty popular for a while. I got mostly good reviews on it. I became obsessed with tweaking and modifying that level for a year. Playing Astrobot reminded me more of Sackboy's Big Adventure which I don't feel is getting the love it deserves. It plays almost identical to Astrobot
I’m gonna be real, I like sack boy. But his games have very little beyond a surface level in common with Astro, and I don’t think ripping Astro’s developers away from their new baby to work on Little Big Planet is fair or even really a good idea? Like imagine the little big planet devs got told after their first game “great job! Now go make a new crash game.” Like wanting sack boy back is fine but this line of thinking is WHY we don’t get big new fun projects like Astro all that often anymore.
Everyone, please, buy the Sackboy game. It's really, really, really good! Very underrated! It's one of the very few fantastic games you can play co-op with your children nowadays
As soon as my little nephew finished Astro Bot, he asked me to fire up LBP/Sackboy. Such potentials for both of those games. Everyone in the family plays them (Wifey, myself niece and nephew who are basically our kids..)
I’ll never forget when my big brother got LBP 1 he stayed up all night and I just watched him play. It was much simpler times, in a time where politics are off the walls and everyone is super negative there’s no better time than a 4th LBP or even a remaster to humble and bring people back to life
Yeah me and my two little brothers and older cousins would all be in our cousins house playing LBP 1 and 2 and I remember they could barely afford to play online but we would all be taking turns with the remotes bc it was more than 4 people tryna play at once, so whoever died had to give up there controller to someone, especially on those shark levels lol. Simpler times great times
I’ve always thought this was the future for LPB. Release it as a stand alone creation tool staring Sackboy. The level building tools were soooo accessible yet you could get deep if you wanted.
LittleBigPlanet getting a remastered release with all the story and dlc content (maybe barring Disney stuff) from LBP 1-3, PSP, Vita, and Karting and if not reviving the old servers making new ones that are more secure so that people can be able to experience this stuff again
I miss these games so much. And I know it never got the steam it needed, but Karting allowing for creation in 3D was incredible and unlike any other creation tool I've used. Not to mention that with the paint roller mechanic you could create a simple fun new track within just a couple of minutes. It always made me sad that it wasn't a popular game even among LBP fans. Just didn't get the merit it deserved, much like the rest of LBP.
In my opinion this is the best multiplayer game after Mario Cart (its super fun with others).. im kinda old now but 10 years ago i had a blast playing this with some frinds and Mary Jane was there too..
I’ve only held on to my PS3 because of my love for the LBP games. The new AstroBot is great, but I think Sackboy A Big Adventure doesn’t get the praise it deserves. It’s HUGE for me that Sackboy has local co-op, and thinks of ways to make tricky parts more accessible to my young daughters with the helicopter hover mode. It’s allowing my two girls their first gaming memories, and it’s magical to them. Add in the highly customizable characters that other platformers ignore, the amazing art direction, and it’s easy to see why this IP is special. I think the added movesets for Sackboy are nice, and a little less floaty physics are great improvements. I hope they revisit LBP Karting but tighten the controls to have another true MarioKart competition. Actually, just make the kart racer feature a bunch of SONY’s IPs like the way Smash does for Nintendo and that could bring a bigger audience. Anyway, it would be amazing to have both AstroBot and Sackboy IPs going strong in the future.
LittleBigPlanet was my whole childhood, when I heard the servers shut down for good I was super bummed out, Sackboy was and always will be PlayStation’s best mascot
I don’t understand ps fans. They’re the ones who made the shift. They’ve made fun of Mario till yesterday (actually they are still based on this video). Now astrobot is a masterpiece and we need more of this?
I love both characters, If I had to choose 1 going forward (Thats a tough choice) I'd have to go with Astro bot at this point since Sackboy has pretty much already had his day in the sun. I loved Sackboy a big adventure but the little guy needs another LBP game and I dont see that happening anytime soon.
Definitely need a new Little Big Planet. Astro Bot is getting all the love but you can spread it out a little bit. Even Nintendo doesn't just make Mario platformers. They also made a Kirby platformer a couple years ago.
Personally I grew up with sackboy I got to play the mainline games on the ps3 and 4 but have never played the most recent one. I would love for Mm to come back and give us another masterpiece that would cheer millions up. I would be happy if team asobi would do the game to.
This may ruffle some feathers but I still feel like Astro Bot is practically just Sackboy Big Adventure in the gameplay department with one or two new toys. The only thing that feels different is the aesthetic of the game not being arts and craft based.
The reason why they're not focusing on a new LBP game is because of game journalist bias. Game journalists suck at games, and only like it when they're pushed closer to the end of the game by the end of the deadline, thus they only care about cinematic cutscenes and lots and lots of realism. It pains me to say this, but unless they stop hiring these gaming boomers who are bad at playing games to play their games, we're not getting an LBP4 any time soon. Simple puzzle? They'll suck. Simple jump? They'll suck. Simple tutorial? They'll *STILL* suck.
Sackboy should be the antagonist of the next Astro Bot game, jealous he's the one both figuratively and literally fading away into irrelevancy. The final boss fight is an Ace Combat style dogfight against Sackboy on a PS3 controller vs Astrobot on a PS5(or whatever number) controller.
It’s kinda sad to think that most likely Little big planet will never make a return considering its state rn ,unless if sony keeps sackboy involved with the sony franchise that will at least make him relevant and remembered ,but damn such a great, creative idea for a game just went completely upside down from one hack on the servers ,it’s so weird that mm has not developed lbp4 yet considering that’s a pretty big game for them to release
I'm late to the party and only recently found Sackboy and all his adventures, so I had no idea there used to be online play. I found him accidentally thru ps+ offering a Sackboy skin to use in Fall Guys. For this reason I did actually think that Sackboy IS the Playstation mascot even tho I've played Astro's Playroom. (I say his, but you can play as a her, of course.) The Sackboy games are awesome. Sometimes tricky. Always fun.
I don't think Asobi twisted the knife... they reminded us that the knife had been twisted already, and not just with Sackboy.

Its a genre that I think should always be apart of gaming no matter how great modern hardware has gotten
even after playing astro. I just love litle big planet sackboy needs to come back
Never fogot Little Big Planet.
Problem with Little Big Planet was Media Molecule abandoned it
sony still owns the ip i think, they could just make media molecule make a new lbp game.
wish list for little big planet 4:
- purple logo
- doesnt corrupt your entire profile if you jump too hard
- isn't almost entirely soulless
- isn't made solely to rake in money
I’ve been playing Sackboy: A Big Adventure for past year and is still so damn good. Incredibly hard at times.. just all around holds its own super well vs today’s games. Will always love lbp tho so amazing esp in its day
I will love LBP for the rest of my life. What an era to be alive and be able to play those games.
Yeah😔😔😔😔 I always claimed sackboy as playstations mascot and he will forever be that in my heart
I honestly don't mind. Asobi studio used to be Japan studio responsible for parappa the rapper, loco roco, shadow of the colossus, ape escape and now astro bot. They earned their place as the mascot of playstation.
Gosh the A little big planet is memories I miss it..❤
"Hold on... say that again" ahh video title
Sackboy did costumes of other PlayStation characters first, AstroBot is shaped like Sackboy so much and the world of. Astrobot borrows a lot from LBP. I love AstroBot, but man did they do Sackboy dirty
How did they do Sackboy “dirty”, when they released a new Sackboy game in 2020, and it sold poorly?
Why does everyone dunk on Sackboy? It was a genuinely great game.
Lbp ripoff!!!!!
Its the fact sackboy (a huge MMascot) didn’t get his own level…
like loco roco bro 😭😭😭
What would they have done? Then again they made a level completely for Nathan drake (didn’t deserve it imo)
Loco Roco was so fun though 😂. I wish they did more unique stuff with those levels like Wipeout and Parappa. I didn’t need GoW, Horizon and Uncharted, one of them would have been fine.
@@jaybee4288to be fair GoW is a huge franchise with PlayStation but horizon yeah idk why they did that
Fr it would've made sense for sackboy to have his own planet/level
then probably is not that huge
1:14 this shouldve of been a skin
What was the name of the level?
@@YanoLBP I think it was "Pinboy". Made by Foxdie84
@@YanoLBP You're not actually a ball, just Sackboy inside a pinball machine bouncing around it.
Sackboy, please come back soon!
Me, my brother, and my sister would normally play Little Big Planet and I would say it's an amazing game. I miss it.
Yeah leave room for the memorable and lovable mascots we love growing up, the gaming industry need them more than ever.
Little Big Planet is probably the best Game I've ever played, so much love went into it
Sackboy deserved better
I’ve always thought this was the future for LPB. Release it as a stand alone creation tool staring Sackboy. The level building tools were soooo accessible yet you could get deep if you wanted.
Little Big Planet 1 and 2 are my favorite games of all time. I would be soooo happy if they released LBP4 or a LBP1-2 up-ressed port on PC/PS5.
How about a true crossover with both games. That would be cool.
They could even take out the 4 and call it little big galaxy or something weird like that.
Honestly my favorite Playstation mascot was Toro, im glad they added him and Kuro into the game
* sees title *
“say that again “
Guys, do you remember when popcap went silent for three years? I think Mm is doing that.
They sacked, our boy. What a tragedy.
We do need more LittleBigPlanet, and we also need more Ratchet & Clank and Sly Cooper games
LittleBigPlanet getting a remastered release with all the story and dlc content (maybe barring Disney stuff) from LBP 1-3, PSP, Vita, and Karting and if not reviving the old servers making new ones that are more secure so that people can be able to experience this stuff again
this video needs more attention
I miss these games so much. And I know it never got the steam it needed, but Karting allowing for creation in 3D was incredible and unlike any other creation tool I've used. Not to mention that with the paint roller mechanic you could create a simple fun new track within just a couple of minutes. It always made me sad that it wasn't a popular game even among LBP fans. Just didn't get the merit it deserved, much like the rest of LBP.
Sony: Hmm Brown boy with Black eyes. Or White boy with Blue eyes. Hmmm gonna go with the white one🤔
why the hell do my boys like sly cooper and sackboy get the shortest end of the stick...
I have Sackboys big adventure on PS5, honestly its a really great game.
Never forgotten, always in our hearts
Little big planet is so nostalgic to me now. Wish they'd bring it back along with mod racers
I know this is true but it still hurts to see our friend go, and I hope for his return.
Lbp just had this old style nostalgic feeling,i remember playing that angry birds bomb survival countless times with my bro when i was a kid.
Rip lbp
Almost forgot that jeff the killer map in lbp2
Great vid, completely forgot about this delightful period in my life
Been playing LBP3 with my little boy recently and it makes me really sad that we never played it when the community levels where still accessible.
little big planet got there job replaced by ai
LittleBigPlanet was my whole childhood, when I heard the servers shut down for good I was super bummed out, Sackboy was and always will be PlayStation’s best mascot
Astrobot is sackboy in a space suit.
I don’t understand ps fans. They’re the ones who made the shift. They’ve made fun of Mario till yesterday (actually they are still based on this video). Now astrobot is a masterpiece and we need more of this?
Sackboy a W
bring my homeboy back fr
I love both characters, If I had to choose 1 going forward (Thats a tough choice) I'd have to go with Astro bot at this point since Sackboy has pretty much already had his day in the sun. I loved Sackboy a big adventure but the little guy needs another LBP game and I dont see that happening anytime soon.
Let's just say that Astro bot is a Futuristic version of Sackboy
Definitely need a new Little Big Planet. Astro Bot is getting all the love but you can spread it out a little bit. Even Nintendo doesn't just make Mario platformers. They also made a Kirby platformer a couple years ago.
An Astro Bot & Sack Boy crossever game would be amazing.
I love Astro bot , would love it to be 2 players . But come on sack boy, little planet big planet needs to continue as well
Personally I grew up with sackboy I got to play the mainline games on the ps3 and 4 but have never played the most recent one. I would love for Mm to come back and give us another masterpiece that would cheer millions up. I would be happy if team asobi would do the game to.
I think Sack Boy never screamed PlayStation for me,but I think we could get more from the franchise to renember people about his existence
What I’ve been playing dreams for years and never knew it was made by the same people as lbp
Imagine something like little big planet reimagined
That would be dope tbh
LBP2 shaped my entire creative process as a kid, I wish I could dive back into a world like that now that I’m older.
It’s kinda sad to think that most likely Little big planet will never make a return considering its state rn ,unless if sony keeps sackboy involved with the sony franchise that will at least make him relevant and remembered ,but damn such a great, creative idea for a game just went completely upside down from one hack on the servers ,it’s so weird that mm has not developed lbp4 yet considering that’s a pretty big game for them to release
i miss hearing the terribly recorded songs people put on sackyboys
We need LBP4 as a 3D sandbox mode
I'm late to the party and only recently found Sackboy and all his adventures, so I had no idea there used to be online play. I found him accidentally thru ps+ offering a Sackboy skin to use in Fall Guys. For this reason I did actually think that Sackboy IS the Playstation mascot even tho I've played Astro's Playroom.
(I say his, but you can play as a her, of course.) The Sackboy games are awesome. Sometimes tricky. Always fun.
Oh man, I'm imagining someone doing the Gwimbly episode of Smiling Friends with Sackboy.
Little big planet shall never be forgotten
