    Thank you, this is the video that finally got my light gauge working. Watched at least 5 others that weren't very helpful. I subscribed, love doing DIYs on my B7 A4. Good stuff!

    all of the cons appear to be buying a local economy low end gauge. I like the pod option as well as the crimp connections because in my older years as a mechanic hose clamps simply do not cut it for the professional install going to go with a Stewart gauge for my nephews A4

    • @KeirBriscoe
      @KeirBriscoe  Рік тому

      Yes, good point on the Cons. I'm also really happy with the pod I chose. A bit more work than other options due to the 3D printing. The benefits of buying the local economy gauge are: Supporting a local business, having it immediately (in Canada Amazon shipping is Sloooooooow), The rattle sound in the gauge is typical of mechanical gauges no not an issue with mine specifically. I totally agree with your opinion on hose clamps. The crimp clamps may be more work, but they look professional. I just checked out the Stewart gauges. They look great. Simple design, with no flashy logos or strobing colours.

      Picked up single ear clips from harbor freight for $12.99 turns out I bought the tool about 30 years ago been sitting in my tool box ever since USED to remove and re use these oem clamps during repairs to save on time getting hose clamps which look amateurish. Same reason I solder connections and shrink wrap them instead of using wire connectors . professional job.

    Does this work for a 2004 B6 A4?
    Because it has the same light switch that is in your video

    • @KeirBriscoe
      @KeirBriscoe  2 місяці тому

      I have no idea. There will be a place in the switch that you can tap into, but you are going to have to get a wiring diagram for your specific model to know for sure. There are different switches even within the B7 model line. For instance some have auto lights, some dont. etc.

    Hey so great video just what I was looking for,so for the defrost vent gauge I love! What would be the size boost gauge that fits that type 52mm? I just don't want to buy the wrong size,I appreciate any help on this before I order it

    • @KeirBriscoe
      @KeirBriscoe  2 роки тому

      It’s funny how different manufacturers will call the gauge 52, or 50, 2.05 inches. In my experience they are all the same size. But to be certain reach out to the Ido3Dprints guy. He would know for sure. I put a piece of gorilla tape on my gauge to shim it into place. The gauge by itself was a wee bit loose.

    What type of adapter did you use..? Is there a link I can use..

    • @KeirBriscoe
      @KeirBriscoe  2 роки тому

      I'm not sure what adapter you are asking about. I built my own adapter that taps into the intake manifold. And I wired directly to the headlight switch.

    To nie jest prawidłowe podłączenie przewodu . To mierzy podciśnienie w silniku przy zamknietej przepustnicy lub nadciśnienie przy maksymalnym otwarciu przepustnicy.

    • @KeirBriscoe
      @KeirBriscoe  7 місяців тому +1

      Yes, that's what a turbo boost gauge does. It measures the pressure of the air going into the cylinders. But if you know a better place to put the sensor pick up then please enlighten me.

      @@KeirBriscoe I'm not an expert, but it seems to me that the hose connection should be before the throttle. Regards.

    • @KeirBriscoe
      @KeirBriscoe  7 місяців тому +1

      @@gdariusz4914 This is the correct area to locate it. Many people tap off the hose fitting that goes between the intake manifold and the PCV, but Ive heard horror stories of the plug screws getting sucked into the cylinders. Positioned where it is it shows vacuum when there is high engine RPM and a closed throttle. If the gauge does not indicate a low enough vacuum at idle it is an indication of an air leak somewhere along the path from the turbo. Cheers!

    Got it printed for free

      If I had access to a 3D printer I probably would have tried to print it myself as well.
