Yup, I am working on a followup video. The short story. After a couple years the black faded a bit. I tried using a suede dye to refresh the black, which worked but also put a slight blue tint to the suede. And the dye changed the texture of the suede so it wasn't as soft. I don't regret doing it but it seems to have a limited lifespan. Alcantara would probably be better as it stands up to UV damage better. However, Alcantara is not as stretchy as suede and therefore more difficult to wrap around curves.

@@KeirBriscoe Thanks a lot for your response mate! Looks like held up quite good then. Were there any surfaces that you touched more and worn way faster? Or it held up ok too? It has been quite difficult to find reviews after some time of use of the suede wrap. I want to use it for a the grip handle of a DIY sim racing steering wheel (there is a lot of videos using it when making the build), but I'm not sure how it will hold up with time and use.

@@carmo77750 The worst area of wear was the drivers door handle. Next was the shifter surround. both areas that get more contact than the rest. Suede is not the most durable. I would brush mine with a horse hair brush to keep it soft and still the area above the drivers door handle didn't fair too well. I believe oils and dirt from my hand built up over time,a and crushed the suede down. It didn't look horrible, but also noticeably more worn than the rest.

I have no idea. There will be a place in the switch that you can tap into, but you are going to have to get a wiring diagram for your specific model to know for sure. There are different switches even within the B7 model line. For instance some have auto lights, some dont. etc.

The motors open and close little dampers inside the air system. If you aren't getting any air to the windshield that should be the Defrost Damper - Green- 8E1820511B. Its located on the right hand side behind the glove box. Either the motor has died or the feedback potentiate needs to be cleaned. Run a scan with VCDS and the car will give you a hint as to whats wrong.

Thanks. After a couple years the suede has started fading. i tried re-dyingng it, but the color was a bit patchy after that. I'm currently re wrapping using perforated lamb leather. It should hold up better to sunlight and so far it looks really sick!

Im not absolutely sure, but I think the tiny ribbon cable is the one that handles touch screen. It looks to be permanently connected to the screen. Its possible its become disconnected, or maybe something on the touch later has gone bad, and a screen replacement would fix it. Im just guessing here.

Yes, that's what a turbo boost gauge does. It measures the pressure of the air going into the cylinders. But if you know a better place to put the sensor pick up then please enlighten me.

@@gdariusz4914 This is the correct area to locate it. Many people tap off the hose fitting that goes between the intake manifold and the PCV, but Ive heard horror stories of the plug screws getting sucked into the cylinders. Positioned where it is it shows vacuum when there is high engine RPM and a closed throttle. If the gauge does not indicate a low enough vacuum at idle it is an indication of an air leak somewhere along the path from the turbo. Cheers!

I really don't know. I've changed the LCD on my X-T2 and it was similar, but not exact. For that one I also had to remove the back of the camera and replace the ribbon cable as well. They are all fairly similar. Try looking at iFixit and see if anyone has done a tutorial for your specific model.

I built that myself out of wood and covered it in black suede. I never made a video about that project.

The only issue I have had is when I leave the wifi on the unit will occasionally freeze on startup. Its happened a handfull of times over the years, and a power reset fixes the issue. Xtrons was not able to provide a solution. But then their tech service is not the best.

Yeah, good point. Funny enough one of my projects is to replace the leather on my shift boot, so I just finished taking that all apart. There is a piece of plastic that snaps in place. At least on the stock one. not sure how the replacement aftermarket one is done.

If you can find the tape they yes. If I was able to find that kind of tape I would have used it instead of glue

I would agree its not great. I am a sound expert but there is a multi channel equalizer that comes preinstalled. I installed Poweramp as my music player and it has a lot more customizations available and I totally recommend using a 3rd party app. One thing that really annoyed me was the radio app is kind of ugly. Unfortunately Xtrons does not let you use a different radio app. My Motorola phone came with a much better radio app and I wish I could have used it on this device.

Hello. I decided to take German language classes. My Burning man camp has friends who live in Paderborn so they suggested I stay here. I do have to take the train to Bielefeld for the class but it’s nice to have friends close by. I’m staying in the Riemekestraße area. This is a very pretty town with amazing history.

Hi Barry - did you have any luck with the repair? I have a second hand x70 i bought back in New Zealand, and have just come accross the same issue you describe with fujifilm support, my cameras screen went completely back after a bit of water damage, so was going to give this a try let me know if you had any success!

@@kraftpunk494 yeah yeah!! The screen can be bought cheaply on eBay direct from China. Be careful!!! You must not break the flexible wiring loom which is glued on. Good luck

Sorry no I don't. I used to own both the S and T versions of the X100, but I sold my X100T in 2019. I did replace the screen on my X-T2 back in 2020. For that I had to remove the entire back of the camera so I could replace the cable too. It required undoing a couple screws that were underneath the rubber grippy parts of the camera. Though I doubt the X100T would be the same. Good luck with it!

It's been awhile since I did that repair. Im sure I did measure it, but I don't remember what the resistance was. If it was out of the expected range I would have mentioned it in the video. And the actuator is still working properly.

Hi. 4.7k ohm. You can get these potentiometer for a few dollar as compared to crazy price for the actuator

Hi. Sorry for the late reply. I’ve just returned to the default world. I had to remove the glove box and that’s it. It can have differing amount of screws depending on how the car was built. Mine had Qty-9 eight mm screws. Then an electrical connector on the back.

Do a search for Audi A4 B7 shifter. There should be many options that come up. 12mm is the correct size for the B7.

Funny thing is I ordered the exact same one sir exact same car so your video is spot on for me. As you told that the knob might turn a little I’d add some silicone glue or something like that so it would stick on to place over night but would still be removable in the future

Yes, good point on the Cons. I'm also really happy with the pod I chose. A bit more work than other options due to the 3D printing. The benefits of buying the local economy gauge are: Supporting a local business, having it immediately (in Canada Amazon shipping is Sloooooooow), The rattle sound in the gauge is typical of mechanical gauges no not an issue with mine specifically. I totally agree with your opinion on hose clamps. The crimp clamps may be more work, but they look professional. I just checked out the Stewart gauges. They look great. Simple design, with no flashy logos or strobing colours.

Picked up single ear clips from harbor freight for $12.99 turns out I bought the tool about 30 years ago been sitting in my tool box ever since USED to remove and re use these oem clamps during repairs to save on time getting hose clamps which look amateurish. Same reason I solder connections and shrink wrap them instead of using wire connectors . professional job.

Haha!. The left side red button is an air horn. The next one over is a custom button I had created that has an old school Cylon at the top and the bottom says "By your Command", which is what those guys always said. The center "Eject" button is the stock cigarette lighter with the Eject piece bought on Aliexpress. To the right of that is a 3.1 Amp USB charger that only energizes when the car is running. On the very right is an empty hole. but the piece that goes in the hole are USB connectors that go to the back of the head unit. So I can plug in a hard drive with movies, music etc.

It connects up to the stock wiring. The Center dash speaker splits between the front speakers so yes, this does use that speaker. Data is sent to the gauge cluster. So the radio stations are displayed there. I’ve not tried the CD player but I’m assuming track info would also be displayed. Also I was able to map all the buttons on the steering wheel to specific commands. The stock radio did not allow all buttons to have a function.

I'm not sure what adapter you are asking about. I built my own adapter that taps into the intake manifold. And I wired directly to the headlight switch.

Hi Mikey. not sure what I can do to help. make sure the ribbon cable is inserted correctly and not damaged. I hope you tested this before using glue to reassemble it.

What’s available is good. I just went with what was the thinnest according to the store. I figured it would make it a bit more stretchy.
