For anyone using a cheaper quality gauge unlike the turbo smart gauge in the video you may find the gauge rattles and the needle shakes. To fix it you can put a restriction in the line like a T piece with a nail in it or half a ciggy filter. Diesel engines tend to pulse more than petrol engines so cheaper gauges will pulse.
It's normal for the gauge to spike when you slam the throttle, its a diesel vnt turbo so the vnt closes when you boot it which usually makes it overshoot when mapped but it comes back, 100% normal, also mapped pd170s run about 1.6bar of boost which makes 23psi bang on :)
Yeah stock brd dude boost too about 21psi man, map probably has is slightly more. And the torsion value is more so to slightly adjust where the power band is close or on zero under load is kind of optimum for fuel efficency also. Can be done yourself by adjusting the exhaust cam.
Is the turbo actuator all okay? My old D2 td5 had been adjusted and then it was stuck and was causing overboost so the ecu would cut out on safety had to cover it in wd40 and wiggle it until it was free again
@@BWTV I use bonnet release grommet for after market fogs and front camera on my mk6 golf....a lot easier than removing the glove box and comes out directly behind the light switch
Hey, been enjoying your videos for the past year or so. Do you have a link to or name of the person who 3d printed the vent mount holder? I have a very similar guage with a pod holder which mounts to the dash but I don't trust the sticky stuff and don't want to use the supplied screws and make holes in my dash.... I know I'm late to the party so I hope you see this. Cheers.
I’ve got the same engine as you Brad and my cover has the same problem, missing Audi rings. I’m guessing the heat and vibrations cause them to come lose and fall out 👎🏼
They are Heko wind deflectors. They make the road noise in the cabin louder, drivers side front one snapped putting it in, and the rear ones fell out after a couple months. But they look cool! And yea they do the job, I can have the window open slightly without getting blown away 👍
Wasss going on? 🤣 I went a different route. Through the ECU box and following the ecu harness into the cabin. Same side as driver less hose and easier install, no removing of passenger glove box.
Dude I have the same car as you but its a quattro(same mods also) , also have the same issue you have with hesitation 🤬 I've been wanting to take the turbo out and strip down and clean as I'm certain it's overboosting as the vains are stuck due to carbon , I've also made the crank case breath atmosphericly to stop the oily mist gunking up the intercooler, just wondering aswell if when you change gear you get a dump valve sound ?
Yeah It could possibly be stuck with all the buildup. Mine does have a slight dump noise, nothing too loud though 👍 I haven't checked my intercoolers yet but I bet it's pretty oily 🤢
@@BWTV I'm thinking it's a blow off due to a split /leaking pipe somewhere, might be worth checking your MAP sensor if that's clogged with oil residue.
I like your videos. Did you thought about using VCDS or Obd elven to log the expected and actual boost values while driving? This should give you a better idea on what is going on.
So yes you have now found that you are overboosting, now work out if it is the vnt sticking or the control, can you fit a camera were the turbo vnt leaver is so you can see if it is moving, if the vnt vaines are stuck, you will not see the leaver move, if stuck, it is time for Mr mussel, look on UA-cam how to do it, Good luck. Dave

Okay good to know. I'll leave it as is for now, next cambelt change I'll try to adjust it 👌
I love the A4 videos❤
Thanks 😄👍
@@BWTV is it fwd? How is it on snow is it good with winter tires for like 20cm without quattro?
Not over boosting but tapering look it up its normal when you hit WOT, if your a4 was over/under boosting it would have entered limp mode.
Great that you have now fitted one,
Dave

Could you not have gone through the bonnet release grommet 🤷
Probably, there's a lot of ways to go. First time I've heard the bonnet release being mentioned though!

Hey
Is your b7 lowered?
If so what suspension are you using and how is it?
Did you ever figure out where your power loss is coming from?
Hi mate did you resolve the starting hesitation issue??? Was it the battery???

Check inside your under tray, I had the same problem, after a few months I finally found the badge in the bottom of my under tray
what wind deflectors are these? do they do the job?

Yea this is also a good way to go! Probably the best way. If I was to re do it I would do this 👌
What is the maximum this gauge can reed,
Dave
This one reads up to 30 psi, call me stupid but I didn't realise diesels boosted so high 😄
@@BWTV yes they do boot high but I don't think it should be that high,
Contact the man that did the remap and ask him what he set it to,
Dave
Or if you can not connect him , ask someone that can read out the map from the ECU, so then you will know what it should be,
Dave

Yea the mapper had logged it originally when he mapped it. At around 3.5k it gave less boost then requested, but then it shoots back up
how come your vids have dropped ? mean your not bring them out as much as used too ???
Putting my effort into other things atm but it should all merge in the future. Just means a couple of years of slow content before it gets really good
Hey mate, great vid! I'm actually planning on getting a b7 and wanted to ask if you have the pd140 or the pd170? Cheers, mate! ;D
This one is the 170 , good luck in your search 👍👍
So you went for an haircut instead of for a pollen filter.

I'll give this a try and see what the outcome is, I'll prep myself for the Mr muscle solution aswell 😂
