I'm thinking of buying this saw for my father ....
He has a cheap and plasticky Stihl saw (MS 181 C). It's really slow (and unsuited) on big logs.
I would prefer to maintain the 555 myself, but I have no experience with AutoTune carburetors.

I really luv this saw and would get another one in a minute...I don't know anything about the auto tune....as far as fixing or maintenance...the shop I bought it from would do that for me...that being said...the only issue I've had was difficulty starting when I was cutting in the middle of the winter and I was setting the saw down in the deep snow....I guess snow was getting into the saw by the pull cord....I took it to the shop and my man put on the "snow guard" (an accessory that came with the saw) and I haven't had a problem since....7 years in...still starts and runs like new....R.M.

@@studio3066 That's a really good recommendation. Thank you for the quick answer
      ! 👌👍😃
I spent the last 10 hours or so researching Husqvarna saws. It is starting to look like the autotune carburetor tools/software is only available for dealers and repair shops. But this might not be a big deal since the saw is very seldom going to need firmware updates and diagnostic runs. In fact, so much time is going to pass by between each use that you might actually have to re-learn how to do it and you could also easily mess something up .. So I don't care about this anymore. I'm going to buy the 555 saw when I find a good offer. It think it's probably a damn good saw and I really want one now. 😃

Hi - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. My 555 saw is an aggressive cutter BUT is an erratic starter cold or hot, despite dealer investigation. My old 365 is my go to saw - solid performer, reliable starter and utterly dependable.

Hey Big R....Thx for the comment....definitely something wrong with your 555....I've been pleased with how mine starts....I wouldn't consider this saw as an "easy" start....u gotta crank it ...aka: giv'er....but not much different then most saws in the same "saw size" category....what's the year of your 555? We have a very good husky tech in our neighbourhood....I can ask for u if u want bro....Cheers from 🇨🇦!

Hi - it's Big Rodders again. I got the saw new in Oct 15 to augment my 365 in bucking over 150 cords p.a. It gave good service but then starting became erratic, hot or cold. A dealer charged me $70Can to do a diagnostic test and said there were no faults. I struggled along with it then stopped using it say 2 years ago. Took it off the shelf last week and fired it up and it worked great when it started. Symptoms are that the unit will fire up strongly for a nano second then stop. Other times after starting it will tick over but when revved it will stop. After messing about with different approaches and it fires up and runs it then works brilliantly. It feels like a metering problem but it's so frustrating I now just use the incredibly reliable 365 saw for an easy life. I intent to try the rebooting trick I saw on the interweb but I'm not optimistic. Any further ideas would be greatly appreciated.

@@rodneysweetnam8653 Hey Big R....I stopped in to see my Husky guy and asked about your saw...his thoughts were that the chip probably needs to be reflashed or have an update?? I'm not completely up on what that may entail...take it to a dealer that can do that kind of programming, I suppose...sorry bro, that's all he had...not so easy to diagnose without having the saw in front of him. ...I'd be happy to hear if it worked out...it is a saw that I would consider being worth fixing....Good luck🍀.

Hi - it's Big Rodders again. Many thanks for your endeavours. I'll chat to a local dealer that I know, I believe ones in Northern Ireland that have diagnostic capacities are few and far between. While the 555 is an impressive saw when running, it has broken me and I'm not up to throw much money at it. It's going to take some persuasion before I buy a computerised saw again. My 2010 65cc 365 model is far superior and is a pleasure to use - it never breaks my heart! I'll keep you posted.

@@rodneysweetnam8653 Hey Big R.....My 555 was my first Husky (5yrs ago)....I replaced a Dolmar with it...and when I went in to buy (from our local dealer/tech) I was looking at the Rancher model, but my tech was recommending the 555....it was a higher price, but, he said it was a better quality and would last much longer than the Rancher....I trust the guys opinion and went with it....(I'd still be using the Dolmar, except it fell off the tractor and............ well..... .........what can I say.................shit happens). Thx for your thoughts on the 365. Take care bro....cheers.

Nice work. You like the saw? I've had a 555 for 5 years and love it. Enormous upgrade over my 50 rancher. I want a 572 now....😁

Hey...thanks for the comment & like 👍....yes I do love the saw as well...it's my 2nd "commercial" grade saw...I bought this saw from a dealer (that I know and trust) and have had little to no issues (approx. 5yrs. in)...I did have a problem last winter....was cutting in some deep snow and setting the saw down here and there in the bush, I guess some snow was getting into the vent slits by the pull cord and was stalling and hard to start....put on the blue winter cover that came with the saw and that's that for that...all good....cheers.
