For reference, the reason people from Trump's so-called nice countries aren't emigrating to the US is because the US is a humanitarian disaster compared to those countries. Why would someone ever move from a country where the salary is high, they have guaranteed legal rights in the workplace, and medical care is either heavily subsidised or free, to a country like the US which has none of those things? People generally move because they want to gain something by moving, but there's nothing to gain by moving from a developed country to the US.

Tolerance, education, rational gun laws, criminal justice systems built around rehabilitation rather than profit-based punishment, harm reduction over criminalization for addictions, preventative rather than reactive healthcare.... the list is long. The root problem in the USA is corporations and extremely rich people run the country while everyone else is just along for the ride.

As a Dane living here in the US I'm actively in the process of moving back home with my American family. Recent SCOTUS decisions and the very real threat of the upcoming election means this place just isn't right for us anymore.
So, why not moving back?! What holds you back? I might be wrong but I will give a shot... Either you are still benefitting from living (and I presume working) in the US, or its been a bit difficult to get your family in Denmark due to paperwork and immigration policies.

It's not free, we pay between 800 and 1000 dollars monthly tax, and this only from the small people with 9 to 5s, in Sweden if your yearly salary goes above 50000 usd then you will be taxed 50%, thats far from being free but yes when we have a medical issue we are covered by our tax.

They don't. They already have it better than the vast majority of Americans, that's why most of them stick to just a vacation here at the high end.

I'm Swiss. Immigrated to the US when I was a kid. Got a Green Card, graduated school and worked. Eventually went back to Switzerland, gave up my Green Card and never went back to the US or plan to. Ironically, I know live on a sailboat, in Cape Verde, Africa. And love it!

An interesting trend is that a lot of people who have immigrated later oppose immigration because the new immigrants compete for the same jobs. There often grows a sentiment that the new immigrants are bad and not as civilized. I have seen this a lot in the latino community. Additionally, the community cannot be treated as a monolith. There is a lot of infighting and disagreements among latinos. I have seen racism towards groups only a country or two away. It’s really sad to see politics rip these beautiful communities apart rather than keep them together.
That was always wild to me. Like, I grew up around a lot of Puerto Ricans and Dominicans, and they hated each other. I later lived in a city with a lot of people of Mexican or various Central American descents, and many of them really hated each other. It was crazy.
Later generations don't work the same jobs since they grow up with better education and acculturalization. What happens is that migrant families assimilated adopt the mentality of "Us vs. them". We have inner-racial issues, but it's a different dynamic across the border. And they don't oppose immigration either, but since it was hard for them, they don't want them coming over "illegally" and reaping the benefits without putting in the same kind of hard work.
The reality is that rich people don't like poor people, and the richer you are, the less you like and can condone the poor. The Rich aren't nearly as bothered by rich immigrants as you would think a racist would be, because it's really about socio-economic level, not race.
There's also opposition to ILLEGAL immigration from LEGAL immigrants. The people that followed the rules see people cutting the line AND being given all kinds of freebies. Shocking, but they tend to not like that.
Al Madrigal already covered this point for TDS: the worst thing to happen to Latinos are other Latinos.

No president can wave a magic wand and stop it, especially when it is being driven by corporate price-gouging. However, a president who is dead wrong on economic policy, like the Orange Menace, can most certainly make it worse.
The greed of the giant corporations and the fact they don’t pay their taxes is what is running inflation.
It is President Biden's Administration that was able to lower inflation after Trump racking it up because he has make America's economic worse after Obama.

I was surprised that he was so young, since I know he's been around awhile as an actor with an excellent reputation. Looking at him in this video, I was thinking, gee, he must be only in his early 40s. Funny thing is, I think I've thought the same thing and found out his age and was very surprised. I live in Texas and am a Democrat. My problem is that the Democrats do nothing to attract the Latino vote. Republicans frequently visit Latino areas even though they do very little in terms of policy to help them.
It's not that.. it just has everything to do with religious philosophies.. uneducated conservatives have more in common with Latin American catholics than either of them would like to admit. And that's sad.
It's because The do-nothing Democrats feel entitled to our vote.
Democrats do nothing to attract the Texas vote. Texas was a blue state when the Democrats here actually represented Texas instead of Washington.

The current inflation rate is a LOT lower than it was. Greedy corporations are just still selling high.
Yeah they don't get that though like this first time my state did a wage increase that cost of rent didn't go up exceeding it lol. Like no Joke every time its like "wages going up 15% to fight inflation!" Land lords "your rent is going up 20% because you can afford it!"
and pointedly, its less than in coparable developed nations. inflation was not just in the us, the supply chain snarls affected all the major countries, and compared to the current inflation in the u.k, France or germany, we are doing quite well. With the obvious caveat that the president really does not affect inflation that much, its what the businesses price things as, if they can get away with a 100% markup, they are going to try it.
@@ryanweible9090 Biden has done some things to reduce inflation. If you look at it charting with time, it was a LOT higher, which matched all nation's high inflation. Inflation was supposed to be one of the factors to balance high wages, but the corps made sure that they charged excessively without increasing wages, so the mechanism usually used only made it worse for workers.

Man John Leguizamo is a pure genius. If Hollywood really wants to make money, they should be begging him to work for them. John Leguizamo can play ANY character put in front of him. His range and talent is truly incredible.
As a Latino I am never voting Trump or any republican.
Latinos do tend to have an inclination towards religion and more conservative beliefs.
However, Donald Trump is no regular republican and certainly not religious. I think Biden could easily sway a lot of people just by using Trumps own words against him.

I think Latino Catholics tend to lean Dem. But unfortunately there's been so many Pentecostals and Evangelicals preying on the Latin community and trying to convince them that voting in their interests is a sin.
I even find that overall Mexicans tend to accept the LGBT community more than some non-Mexican latinos.
I agree that is an excellent strategy to use Trump's words against him. And to translate his words, as John said what Trump means. Because even native English speakers have a hard time understanding Trump's babbling and slurring. Emphasize his words and his record. Jan. 6th needs to be emphasized, because many Latinos immigrated here precisely because of our supposed political stability and we didn't have coups and coup attempts, dictatorships like many Latin American countries. I think those themes can change a lot of minds.

Some people can't think critically about the issues. They think Trump is on their level IQ wise. I love this comedian's work on the Daily Show and the movies.
I emigrated to Northern Europe from America 40 years ago. Have had the "American dream" here; security of family, education, health, social institutions, freedom of choice on all levels, etc etc. This never existed for me in America. It's only gotten worse. I would never go back. If Americans only knew how much they could make life better for themselves and for all others by just becoming more social with their own people. 500 million Europeans have had this for decades upon decades.

We have more jobs than ever, and that is inflationary. If big business paid workers fairly instead of owners extravagantly we would have more money to afford the higher prices. So, vote BLUE, for the workers.

As a Scandinavian It is always so surprising (or not) to hear that the US has different groups, different votes, different ethnicities. In other nations we have people that vote.
To be fair the US is also substantially more diverse than any country in Scandinavia. And each of those demographics have different issues that are uniquely important to them. Just a byproduct of diversity.
We have the 8th lowest inflation rate in the world. It's way worse overseas, but they will blame Biden for everything. I have a cpl Latino friends. One is definitely more liberal. The other leans more Conservative but I only found out a few years ago her mom, who had been here since before her birth, had just become a citizen right before Covid hit. It took her mom over 30 yrs to become a citizen l would like to think she will not vote for Trump but who knows these days.
