Wanted to use it actually for Hiit sprints since I’m doing it on the normal treadmill and always have to change the speed. It’s annoying that way so I hope that curved one is gonna solve that issue

Excellent demonstration.. many people do it wrong, i guess it takes some practice to get in tune with it

On the ground he demonstrates the importance of foot striking at a 6 o’clock position, then gets on treadmill and consistently strikes ahead of hips at a 5 o’clock-ish position. The mechanics rely on the treadmill curvature in a way that forces the user to strike ahead of their hips, reinforcing this bad strike position. When I’ve used these treadmills this is exactly the feel I have experienced: unnaturally forced to strike ahead of hips.

I tried running on a Draxfit curved treadmill today and it seems much more difficult and intensive, when compared to a powered one. I could barely do 10 minutes ,but I don't run much. I have to start here. Is it supposed to be harder?

You're right. Its not a Woodway its a Technogym Skillmill. Totally brain darted as we talked about it which is why we titled it "Curve Treadmill" We appreciate you looking out!

Ok I see now why if I'm walking the thing starts speeding up like crazy. The more you lean the higher the faster it goes. Hope your camera man has learned how to take proper shots by now, he kept cutting your feet off the shot.

Curved treadmills might be great for a short fitness workout, but they will not help at all with conditioning for actual road running.
I agree with your point on where your foot should strike the ground, but a curved treadmill will not help this optimal position. By the nature of it, you can overstride / heel strike and not be punished for bad form as it will correct the overstride. It will negative affect your gait if you use this and then recreate the same motion on flat ground. Biomechanically it promotes bad form and will not help natural running.
Recreational runners should focus on zero drop or barefoot footwear to optimise their natural running style and avoid heel striking. A curved treadmill will help for a cardio workout but should not be used as a training method to translate to road running on flat ground.

Absolutely, by "design" in order for the conveyor to roll you must strike uphill & heel down in order to be able to "pull" the conveyor toward you to power/drive the conveyor motion. I don't think this machine should claim to be superior to actual running or a training method for actual running. This is a calorie burning machine that forces extra effort per step. So, the key is with this extra resistance how long can you go and how fast. That takes experimenting to find the right intensity and duration.

It sucks. Get a really nice standard treadmill for the cost of this junk

Curved treadmill are the worst. No one can use them for any length of time. They are clunky, heavy, expensive, and users stop using them. They're terrible. While you have variable control with a motorized treadmill, you cannot run any distance on a manual curved treadmill. Too expensive as well.

I appreciate this feedback Jim. Yep, sometimes curved treadmills may be worse for people when they can just run outside. The one we bought for the gym is pretty light, easy to move and we bought it used for half the price it sold at. Motored treadmills tend to need servicing more frequently for the motor and may cost more in the long run so keep that in mind. We've had athletes have great and experiences with both motored and manual curved treadmills. Give it 5 more years the price may come down a bit. Thank you again man!

I disagree I find it excellent and gives a more intense workout than a motorized treadmill. And I can go for long duration here. I find the curved treadmill feels more natural, like being outside

I also disagree, I love the curve treadmill at my gym. I feel a better workout, lost weight, built endurance. It’s awesome

When I was gymming, I felt like a curved treadmill was the real deal. Went as slow or as fast as I did, and it felt like a harder cardio session because I used my own weight to move. How anyone can use a motorized treadmill of any kind is beyond me.

Curved treadmills are used for different workouts though, not acclimatising for road running. I find they are great for me with my joint issues and also for getting up to speed quickly (stop/start) HIIT workouts and of that nature
