I was really hoping there would be something in the safe, for George’s sake. But at 47, I’ve long since realised it’s the anticipation you must learn to enjoy, rather then the outcome. I think you should make T-shirts that say, *"I have a Magnetic Personality"* on the Bottom it says, "Magnetic G", and show a large magnet with a cord over the shoulder with a magnet with a pair of scissors or a pair of eyeglasses with a metal frame attached to the magnet.
*Something a little Kitchy!!*
You might want to sell your coffee mugs with a miniature magnet on a cord, and some small figures, for times to take a break at your desk, 6 or 7 little figures like the old Monopoly figures, a clock, an iron, a wrench, a coin, a car ornament, a safe, just little iron charms. I think it would be extra fun, and would be popular for gift giving.

Hi Brian no we haven’t thought of that. We did go through the sand out of the safe with a natal detecting pin pointer to check for any coins etc 😊

@Magnetic g Gold dust/flake... You found miners carpet.. You found pieces of plastic.. What if there were bags of Gold Dust in a plastic bag/s and the bags disintegrated and then mud got in and mixxed with the gold dust... The mud looked of color to me but I am seeing it on a screen.. So I wonder if you checked the mud for gold?

"How did all that sand get in there?" Well, George, there was a significant sized slot in the door, perfect for the sand to get in it. And I thought you said that you saw a box inside it when you were looking thru the hole.

The box I thought I saw through the hole turned out to be the safes carpet 😭
The sand was put in to sink it, the door locked and the key chucked. Probably by whoever nicked it, but, possibly, by an owner disposing of it.
Well that's a darn shame.....I thought you found the kings gold.

Hi im also from Nottingham UK I haven't read all the comments but you should of ran your magnets over the contents of the safe just to make sure there was nothing in it also the way you suggested opening the safe was really good that was either a good idea or you was talking from previous experience lol. you need to make a screen to put over a bin and then wash water gently over the muck to see if anything is revealed. Of course anything in the safe was long stolen before it was tipped into the water, but safes have delicate small things in them usually, which can easily be missed just dumping it out dry.

Awww better luck next time, I watch 'Bondi Treasure Hunter, he pulls loads of safes out of the canals of Amsterdam. Even the closed ones are always full of silt, occasionally he finds some with a few coins etc in. Great idea to turn it into a planter.
We were gutted it was empty Catherine 😬 On the positive side it’s no longer polluting the river and we have a great new planter that will always remind us of the day we thought we’d found a safe full of gold 😊

It must have been a lock box that someone accidentally locked and forgot the code too so chucked it in the river, similar to how people often forget codes to padlocks and what not.

LOL !! The world is full of sadness. No one steals an empty safe young George, thieves take what is in it then discard the safe or it quite possibly may have been an insurance claim. People do all sorts of things for money but now it is a nice little planter pot and the rest is scrap metal to cash in later.

if you want advice for batterie angle grinder that are good would be milwaukee, dewalt. those are high end grinders . but any amazon ones would do. i like the kids attitude (there's always next time)

More than likely the owner lost the keys held onto it for a long while, finally just decided to drop it into the water, hopefully they got a good giggle 😃! Because considering I thought it to be in great condition physically!

I got hurt in 97 and then hurt several more times and now it's just keep going try to keep my wife content because of her health and just try to enjoy what I have because while it's not good so many people have it so much worse and I am not going to complain too much about what I have because I could be completely bedridden or not be able to use my hands. My age is creeping up with me and things are falling apart but I'm content because of what I just said and because I have a good relationship with my my wife and my beliefs. It appears that modern safes have a good thickness of steel on the door, but everyone knows that the rest of the construction is relatively thin.
I think the older safes used a concrete core sandwiched between layers of steel.

The safe most likely really didnt have anything in it besides mud however you truly cannot be 100% sure unless you've washed/ran the contents through a fine sieve. Tiny things and coins can be easily concealed in muck.

Should also get urselves a pointer detector as can pick up any metals in the mud etc when tipped out of safes, bags etc as will save u a lot of time sifting through it by using hand

Next time you might want to use a bucket with water to empty the save, that way you do not destroy the content inside, like bank notes if there is any inside..🤗
