I am having the same issue with my escargot shells. Instead of buying more shells I'm experimenting with 3D printing my own shells. I've only managed to get 2 or 3 into the tank, but the fish seem to be fine with it and tend to go for shells made with black plastic filament over white.

Those Kuhlis. I remember I bought two for my very first fish tank (a 10 gallon when I was 10), put them in and never saw them again, I thought they died. When we moved three years later and I had to take the tank apart, there were about twenty of them living under the undergravel filter, quite the surprise.

The new shells look much better than the old, green ones. The variety in coloration, size and shape give the tank a more dynamic feel, and it sure seems like the fish are enjoying the bigger shells. My best to Chris and the girls, and it is indeed looking like a great summer.

I am glad you liked the blingy shells. I think the tank really looks good with the mix. I found out that the liquid salsas I sent for Chris were taken out because no liquids can go through Mexipost. I hope the container with dried chile corns made it through. Just grind them up and add them to your dish to ramp up the heat. tell Chris to get better and to enjoy the spicy kick.

    • @RachelOLeary

OMG! you would have DIED- he popped a handful of the chili corns into his mouth and was like WHOA- these are HOT! LOLOLOLOLOL I was wondering if they got yanked, the box didn't appear to be opened, but there was definitely not any salsas. Thankyou SO MUCH.

havent watched all the way through so this might be mentioned but thought I would share. If you put the shells high up on a shelf the fish inside will leave to go to the lower part. I usually use a scrap piece of light diffuser to put a handful of shells on for a couple days to make sure they empty out. i just hang it on 3 suction cups using the corner of the tank. 2 on one side 1 on the short end. hth
(after thought) just put them on the mountain of lava rock, they will leave and head to the shell bed.

There is a much easier way to make sure you get all the shellies out of their shells! Shellies cannot stand being at the top of the tank! I built a platform out of egg crating that suspends the shells about 3 inches below the waterline. The shellies will eventually swim out of their shells and find out they are at the top of the tank. They will swim to the bottom of the tank and find a new shell to live in. I usually leave the shells overnight and remove them the next day.

Looks good 👍. Have you ever seen any reel issues with anamorphic bacteria in deep substrate? I have 6 tanks with deep sand substrate and never seen any issues.

I love the combo of the multis and leptosoma! What’s the smallest tank you could could them together in, would you say??
