One of the best series ever. Ever since I started watch broodwar games I always cheer for Jaedong to beat flash but he never could. Snow is the new king now.
Spoiler. Wow. Maybe one of the greatest series in asl history. This should have been the final. Snow playing out of his mind. You can just feel Flash's mental struggle to accept the loss as the facs floated away. It was like watching the last episode of death note where Light is still trying to make a run for it. Snow wrote "Flash - death by carriers". 1. Demon probe! 2. Reavers cashing in at the scv atm! 3. Goons jumping on tanks! 4. Recall Let is snow let it snow let it snow!
To be fair the Finals would probably just be Flash destroying whomever if not for this set; slightly less interested in Ro.4 but much more interested in the finals as a result; also more Flash next season so we're good.

I've never rooted for a Terran over a Protoss before. But given how unfairly Afreeca stacked those maps against Terran *specifically* to make sure Flash didn't win, I couldn't help but hope that their plan blew up in their face. Don't get me wrong, Snow played fantastically. Beating Flash, even under these conditions, is an amazing feat... But as much as I'd like to say the best player in the world is now a Protoss, it wasn't even close to being a fair match. Flash remains the best player in the world by a significant margin.
Somehow, it's nice to see Flash forced out of his usual turtle style It gave us awesome games, so congrat to AfreecaTV for making such a fun tournament, all these maps are so entertaining ! (maybe just fix Sparkle ;-) ) And perfect casting by Tastosis as usual ^^
this is stupidest ASL ever.. the maps are just retarded.. we had 2 terrans advance into top 16.. these maps are so IMBALANCE and still its a 3-2 victory that was so hard to take off the most imbalance maps ever....

How are the maps retarded? Part of what makes games exciting to watch is the huge variety of strategy needed from map to map. Perhaps some just want to see Fighting Spirit every game but not everyone, myself included, wants to watch the same formula over and over.
These maps are retarded because they were specifically chosen to make a Protoss player win the tournament. Seriously, round of 16 and 2 terrans, with Flash being a seed. So literally 1 terran made it through. Dafuq. Also, all the progamers agree that Sparkle, Transistor, and 3rd World are ALL toss favored maps. The fact that Flash made it to game 5 and actually almost won speaks more about Flash's skill than anything else. AfreecaTV caved to all the noobs who know nothing about BW complaining about Flash winning everything, or saying Terran is OP. The other players couldn't beat Flash with skill, so they had to fuck with the maps. Well done ASL
When those workers accidentally glitched onto the back side, omg. If he had clicked one of the upper mineral patches when he transferred, wouldn't have lost those 15 in one hit.

That game 3 was so incredibly close. I think flash had a chance even till the very end like i think he could of tried to move a cc and try to start mining again. Like i dont think he realized how broke snow was. His last base was almost mined out also. Anyway great games and so glad flash lost finalllly man lol.
For me this was the most exciting series in years. So much adrenalin! It is remarkable, that Flash lost the maps, that are Protoss friendly. Another cool thing is the deviation in strategies. They played different stuff than they are showing on stream. Loving the mind games! But to be honest, i think Flash lost the last game because of wrong decision making. He should have killed the Protoss base instead of trying to defend.

Game 3 was the deciding one and it wasn't particularly terran favored. Snow was almost losing that one if not for his sick reaver drops and recalls.. Flash just didn't defend well enough though his macro was spotless
The only 1 map which is statistically not PvT favored is sparkle which Flash won. It was clearly designed to screw up Terrans so Flash will finally lose. 6 out of 7 terrans dropped out in ro24 what a coincidence, right?
@@natenatenate10 man it doesn't work like that. If Flash is better than Snow that doesn't mean he's gonna win 100% of the games it means he has higher chance to win . ASL5 mappool was completely broken why even argue about that. If i recall correctly Only 2 terrans made it to RO16 and Flash got seeded. So basically only Mind survived RO24 and made it to RO16. So yeah terrans got screwed big time by this map pool.

I'm disappointed that Flash lost, but I'm happy with the quality of games we saw. I'm skeptical of the balance of some of these maps, but I can't say anything conclusive based on the games we've seen thus far (I mean, very few terrans in the tournament to begin with). Even if the maps aren't terran friendly (time will tell), they have produced some great games.
There were as many terrans as usually(last, light, mong etc) they were just all FORCED out in the group stage(thanks "fun" maps). Flash was here because he was seeded from prev asl ro4.
you are right. I am a BIG BIG fan of Flash but I also love other gamers. Flash dominant might be a threat to BW pro scene. I never want Flash to be back, I just want others to stand up mightily to be his contenders.
Came here after hearing about Tasteless' recent praise of Flash. Tastosis also kept saying that Flash was the best. But AFAICT, Snow was the better player in many aspects, such as micro, defense, overall pacing, etc. He deserved the win.
I honestly don't get everybody saying this was an amazing series, the only reason it was even competitive was because the maps were designed to destroy Terran, that's why it was only Mind and Flash in the Ro16, it was kind of awful to be honest and it lead to a PvP instead of Flash v Mini which would have been fantastic. I think everybody getting caught up in Flash's record being snapped, I'm a huge fan of Mini, Larva and Flash so I understand I could be biased but it seems like a hollow victory if you only could win because they gave you a handicap
Snow did the upset masterfully, but the map choices were utter and complete garbage for terran players. Pretty clear they wanted to get a new champion and they put as much weight as possible on the scales to do so.
