Flash is a great tactical player. He really is taking random to a level I never even thought of. Of course his mechanics are godlike, but his understanding of the game seems to be even better

Constant exchange so that Terran never reaches 200, reaver then Templar speed drops, continuous speed shuttle production for combat (least 2). Most Protoss players don’t use shuttle this much for optimization purpose. Flash being a random player he is so unorthodox we may actually see flash winning ASL 10

It seems that flash stormdrops terran more then any given protoss player. I wonder how it works. In theory, reducing the economy alongside the army of terran makes it very difficult (or impossible) to expand while also preventing offensive moveout. It essentially allowed flash to secure his early game lead by simply eliminating rush options. Interesting.

But upgrades are not critical and he won't need arbiters for defense since terran has no scary army. At the same time, he can safely expand and when eventually he attacks it won't even matter how many toss units die because he can rebuild the army very quickly thanks to the superior economy. But to do all of that you need an initial lead from the harass. I think that this makes sense, but I just wonder why no other toss uses this style.
I also have noticed this trait. Hard to say if it's occasional gig/cheese or defined playstyle. Thing is, offrace Flash can't win with just pure micro/macro play, he lacks experience. So he wins with tactics. He actually admitted that in interviews - last season he decided to play by tactics, just for fun. And this season he does that out of other options. So it may be just a gig he won't use again, just like that ninja base with Snow. Is this play worth it in long run? I'ain't this good to speculate on this. But if he does it again in Ro. 4 and wins, then yes it is ;)

I think they got game 2 wrong. At some point Tasteless was saying he was worried for Flash and like 30 seconds later he said Rush is hanging on by a thread. Like, what? Regardless, Flash dominated that whole game. He displayed a brilliant PvT and any mistakes he made were minor.
The thing is, the Terran army scales way better as the game progresses, and Flash had just attacked outside Rush's third while being very wasteful with his units. If somehow Rush got his economy together and Flash kept being wasteful with his main army, he could have lost that. But yeah, Flash had already won that game because of all the Reaver and HT drops.

It's really the nature of ranged units (especially the tank) scaling with army size and not the upgrades as I sometimes hear. So Flash's constant pressure kept the battles relatively small. The inefficient trades we're better in the long run because they would have been even more inefficient if he let Rush get a larger army. Basically, the whole game I was watching Flash just get more and more ahead. Artosis was smart enough to point out the large supply differences at times, but I just thought it was weird they were acting like the game was closer than it really was.

Third game looks like a build order win, but I bet flash is like what am i gonna do 0--2 in bo5, 8 rax, ok 7 pool. Not much luck involved pure skill.

It is no longer mandatory for all i think. Not sure, think i heard tastosis speak about it one time. He got a delay due to a hand injury i believe at least.

As a Protoss fanboy I started not liking Flash back in the days he just started dominating. He too strong. But now seeing him playing random I want him to win so much. He is a one in a time phenomena. The way he macros as P... the amount of reavers and shuttles he produces.. I can't even.
Flash is making protoss look OP. I wish he actually choses to play Protoss soon, so he can prove once and for all that hes the best. It's actually amazing that he can play Protoss at such a high level. It's not quite as strong as his Terran but his Protoss is freakin monster level lol.
The funny thing is, he is playing quite different compared to main race toss, but still he is somehow even better (e.g. reaver drop for workers, not for army - storm drops instead of storm fighting tanks). I never saw high tier toss going for these strats.

****SPOILER ALERT**** can someone tell me what these casters are talking about in game 2? terran gets the perfect start with CC first and flash DOMINATES him nonetheless throughout the whole game. insane amount of damage from the reavers, insane storm drops, completely dismantling the economy and then amazing engagements, insane dropship play and bombing, keeping the tank count low through the whole game to end up 5 base perfectly saturated vs 3 base with half the scvs missing. rush was trying to keep everything together the whole game and took punch after punch, yet the casters are yapping about how flash made mistakes and his reaver micro isnt that great and he overextends with his harrassment? what game did they watch? game 2 was an absolute showcase of dominance and skill, shutting down all drops / vulture runbys and crushing the only push attempt, where rush managed to leave his base ONCE in the entire game with a small army. thats all rush did in the game, rest of the game he tried to stay alive, unsuccesfully. he didnt even come close to push a base of flash or land some punches of his own.
They are comparing to other players, they have been casting for more than 10 years, flash is incredible, but isn't perfect, the drops were expensive and could have been microed a little better, check snow drops or rain, the thing is though flash did enough damage to the economy and put himself ahead, aggrsive play that paid off
@@jimmyvelasco1570 the only reason to save reaver is to have them in case terran pushes out, but since this was cross spawn and the reavers were not needed, he did the absolute right thing to sac them and deal as much damage as possible, instead of taking less risky positions but getting duds and dealing no damage in return. flash knew what he was doing. dont tell me he doesnt know where to drop vs terran, if he wants to save the reavers, his play was intentional.
I don't understand the Nexus first on a 2 players map. Your opponent wants to scout you a fast as possible, and he can find you immediately. Therefore there is a high chance of the Nexus first being scouted very early (except obviously in the case we had... did he anticipate it ??)
fast worker scout loss meaningful minerals in the early game. Flash actually prepared fast 2cc in game 1 so i think Rush tried to offset the advantage that Flash gets from playing random. maybe for that reason he start fast second cc and scout as late as possible
Scouting is like Scrodinger's Box. The game is anyone's game until that box is opened. When yu get to this level of competitive play, once yu open this box (aka. Knowing the opponent's build), the arms race begins. Just because yu manage to get a scount in doesn't mean the opponent is like durr im like, not gonna start building counters to yur counters at all. So if yu start building counters to a fast expand, all the opponent has to do is wall off and beat yur ass in after macroing a stronger army and then yu get GG'd And on top of that, if they survive yur initial drop/push, they are actually free to counter harass like the Reaver drop Flash did and totally cripple yur economy.

What's the military situation with Flash? In ASL S8 they kept sayin this might be his last tourney cuz he hasta go to military soon. Now its ASL 10 and he's still here, but they aren't mentioning anything about the military. Is there some secret exemption he got?
It is no longer mandatory for all i think. Not sure, think i heard tastosis speak about it one time. He got a delay due to a hand injury i believe at least.

@@henryh.448 Flash got medical exemption from that specific injury sometime last year; artosis mentioned in one of his casts, I cannot remember exactly which one. Discussions about his impending service disappeared after that.

As a Protoss fanboy I started not liking Flash back in the days he just started dominating. He too strong. But now seeing him playing random I want him to win so much. He is a one in a time phenomena. The way he macros as P... the amount of reavers and shuttles he produces.. I can't even.
Flash is making protoss look OP. I wish he actually choses to play Protoss soon, so he can prove once and for all that hes the best. It's actually amazing that he can play Protoss at such a high level. It's not quite as strong as his Terran but his Protoss is freakin monster level lol.
The funny thing is, he is playing quite different compared to main race toss, but still he is somehow even better (e.g. reaver drop for workers, not for army - storm drops instead of storm fighting tanks). I never saw high tier toss going for these strats.

can someone tell me what these casters are talking about in game 2?
terran gets the perfect start with CC first and flash DOMINATES him nonetheless throughout the whole game. insane amount of damage from the reavers, insane storm drops, completely dismantling the economy and then amazing engagements, insane dropship play and bombing, keeping the tank count low through the whole game to end up 5 base perfectly saturated vs 3 base with half the scvs missing. rush was trying to keep everything together the whole game and took punch after punch, yet the casters are yapping about how flash made mistakes and his reaver micro isnt that great and he overextends with his harrassment? what game did they watch? game 2 was an absolute showcase of dominance and skill, shutting down all drops / vulture runbys and crushing the only push attempt, where rush managed to leave his base ONCE in the entire game with a small army. thats all rush did in the game, rest of the game he tried to stay alive, unsuccesfully. he didnt even come close to push a base of flash or land some punches of his own.

They are comparing to other players, they have been casting for more than 10 years, flash is incredible, but isn't perfect, the drops were expensive and could have been microed a little better, check snow drops or rain, the thing is though flash did enough damage to the economy and put himself ahead, aggrsive play that paid off

@@jimmyvelasco1570 the only reason to save reaver is to have them in case terran pushes out, but since this was cross spawn and the reavers were not needed, he did the absolute right thing to sac them and deal as much damage as possible, instead of taking less risky positions but getting duds and dealing no damage in return. flash knew what he was doing. dont tell me he doesnt know where to drop vs terran, if he wants to save the reavers, his play was intentional.
I don't understand the Nexus first on a 2 players map.
Your opponent wants to scout you a fast as possible, and he can find you immediately.
Therefore there is a high chance of the Nexus first being scouted very early (except obviously in the case we had... did he anticipate it ??)
fast worker scout loss meaningful minerals in the early game. Flash actually prepared fast 2cc in game 1 so i think Rush tried to offset the advantage that Flash gets from playing random. maybe for that reason he start fast second cc and scout as late as possible
Scouting is like Scrodinger's Box.
The game is anyone's game until that box is opened.
When yu get to this level of competitive play, once yu open this box (aka. Knowing the opponent's build), the arms race begins.
Just because yu manage to get a scount in doesn't mean the opponent is like durr im like, not gonna start building counters to yur counters at all.
So if yu start building counters to a fast expand, all the opponent has to do is wall off and beat yur ass in after macroing a stronger army and then yu get GG'd
And on top of that, if they survive yur initial drop/push, they are actually free to counter harass like the Reaver drop Flash did and totally cripple yur economy.
