Finally decided it was time to post this, having recently gotten into Portal! I love GLaDOS! She's so funny and witty at times (even though, to be fair, most of her humor is pretty dark)!
Spoiler alert: She is actually a good guy... "Sarcasm sphere self-test complete."
Oh and, "Two plus two is...ten. IN BASE FOUR I'M FINE!"
And when you're threatened by deadly neurotoxin, "stop squirming and die like an adult, or [she is] going to delete your backup."

So, when I first played this game, I knew FULL well that GLaDOS was my enemy, but I was still devastated when she tried to get into my head with the whole Companion Cube thing. I mean, she spends the ENTIRE test telling Chell that the Cube is not sentient at all but then turns around forcing us to “euthanize,” not destroy, EUTHANIZE our faithful Companion Cube. Definitely her cruelest move.

it blends into her comical insults and one might mistake it as another of her half hearted attempts at getting you to stay in the facility, but those who know their lore know she's not joking or lying at all to you. There is indeed some very fucked up stuff going on outside.
I always got the sense that she was trying to kill us "fair and square" so to speak. Considering that the facility can rearrange itself at Glados's will, it would be basically impossible for the Combine to get anywhere. Not to mention the fact that I doubt that the weapons we see her use are the only ones she has. She wants to win the battle of wits and so doesn't use them against us and cheat by doing so.

@@firewall5189 seeing that Apeture science has even been prepared for a world where the laws of physics don't apply anymore, it isn't irrational to say that the facility is impenetrable to even a combined attack from the entirity of the Combine (say that 3 times fast.) Glados probably can't "liberate" the world from the Combine as she is stuck in the facility so the Combine don't need to worry about her, so i can imagine there being an uneasy alliance/truce between the 2 if the Combine has won.
GLaDOS's delivery of the lines from 14:31 to 15:55 is my favorite. She just has so much character, it makes me smile.

You have to play Portal 2 as well. The lines get even better in Portal 2, but start with Portal for sure.
if for whatever reason you havent yet (and i direct this to any potential readers too), i highly recommend it. top notch characters, neat puzzles, incredible world-building, and glados spits out enough one-liners to set you up for life.

I think what makes her voice fascinating is the humanity Ellen McClain gave GLaDOS. You would think a software would make more sense but it wouldn't be the same.
I love how through the game her speech slowly turns into a sarcastic, uncaring person. It's pretty much the ultimate villain voice in every way.

I find this to be a very well worded line. It has murderous undertones, but this is also GLaDOS clearly admitting that someone cares about her. However, you've yet to see anyone at all....

There is some real interesting stuff in the dialogue for the final battle, the way she talks about the outside world makes it seem like an apocalypse has happened (and since this game has been proved to be connected to Half Life with the Black Mesa connection it probably has).
Then there is the fact that as we learn in Portal 2 Glados used to be a human called Caroline and her origin story is really quite sad, in instances where her voice changes she sounds really human and it makes me wonder if that is some part of Caroline leaking through but then Glados instantly joking it off or ignoring it in an attempt to hide that part of herself. It makes those words really sad and you listen to them with that perspective. Anyways love Glados
