If you are new to my channel and Fy Nyth (Welsh for "My Nest") in general, welcome! I'm Ariel. Along with my husband Clay, our dogs, and some poultry, we live in a tiny house on wheels in the mountains of western Wyoming and are working on setting into our own new little homestead. I've been living this lifestyle since 2014 and my wonderful partner has joined me more recently. What will you find if you follow the channel and watch the videos?
Real life here. I try to show the good and the bad. The ups and the downs. What works, and what doesn't. The parts I love (most of it!), and the things that suck. Not just the showroom version of a tiny house, but everyday life in a tiny house. Not just the romantic idea of "homesteading" or off grid life, but the everyday details of this lifestyle. We split wood for heat, fill the water tank from a gravity fed spring, and attempt to grow as much of our own food as possible between the weather and wildlife here. I hope to help others learn from mistakes and make life just a little easier for anyone else interested in pursuing a similar lifestyle.

They're growing so fast they were smaller in the beginning and bigger at the end of video. It's a gaggle of cuteness at a pool party.
How can you get anything done with such adorableness surrounding you: Baby chicks and baby ducks and of course, Burley.

They were loving the water and I was loving watching them. I love the way they all swim together in the water.
While swimming in the side creek makes the ducklings happy, the ducklings make you happy. This was the sweetest thing I’ve seen you post since the baby foxes.

Love watching the ducklings! My parents and I raised a mallard duckling when I was a teenager. My dad worked for the irrigation district and out on the job, by a ditch, saw some mean boys chase them out into the street, got hit by cars. 😡. Our duck had just hatched so dad brought her home. She loved our dog's Gaines Burgers. 😄. She had a kiddie pool inside an enclosure when she got big enough, and pecked at grass, bugs, and ate flies off the fly swatter that I swatted for her too. She would come to me whenever she heard it. She grew into a gorgeous duck 🦆 and flew away one day. From what a kid that lived north of us said, I think she flew off toward a park a few miles away and joined their ducks, some of which were mallards.

14 days you can voice train them.....all duck time for bed.... and 30 duck coming in from free ranging to the coop. I'll try to link the video teaching this process. It's wicked cool. Gold shaw farm is the channel 👌
Just make sure your creek/pond doesn't have any snapping turtles in it. We have a pond at work where people like to go watch the ducks at lunch time. Frequently the babies following mom across the pond will simply disappear off the top of the water.

I love your baby Chickens and Ducks. I heard a famous Actress in California say she bought some Chickens and in the mornings she loved reaching her hand under them for their eggs then go straight into the kitchen and fry them, talk about fresh! She said the taste was fantastic, far better than any store bought eggs.
When I was a boy we had a Duck we named Quackquack, we called him Quack for short. We never put him in a cage, he would go with us over to the Lake, he would dive underwater and catch and eat Shad, I held my eyes open underwater and watched him do it. When we plowed the garden he would eat the worms we uncovered, and so much more.
In the Summertime my two brothers and I would take our shirts off lie down on the ground and he would walk on top of us nibbling our bellies and chests, that tickled! I loved that Duck. We had a street in front of our house Quack got into a bad habit of chasing cars with other Dogs in the hood, maybe he though he was a Dog.
Then one day he was chasing a car driven by a poor excuse for a human being, a mean, mean A-hole who cut his wheels on purpose towards Quack ran over and killed him. My two brothers and I cried and cried and cried, I have tears in my eyes right now. He was the greatest Duck the World has ever known.
Oh that's so sad!

I raised Blue Swedish, they would come and peck at the door every time I cooked rice(brown rice)....they despised white rice.
Also, they were very good at chasing down and eating snakes.

Almost all domestic ducks are too large and heavy to be able to fly for anything more than a couple feet.

Gah! So delightful. My landlord has three ducks. One of them became broody, so he provided her with about ten fertilized eggs, which hatched two days ago. I am smitten with those yellow fluff balls withtheir black legs and feet. For know, they have a squre baking pan as their pond. The mama stepped into it herself, as if to show them how to use it. She has taken to her adoptees like a duck to water, pardon the pun. Her doting demeanor when they are all tucked under her is precious, and there is a look to her eye that she didn't have before: I beleve she is really happy to finally be a mama.
Hope yours continue to flourish and be a source of de.ight to you. Do you or will you sprinkle flaxseedfor them and the chicks to peck for to boost the omega 3 fatty acid in the yolks? Either way you are going to have the best eggs ever! Instead of dinner, friends will be coming overfor breakfast!
