If you are new to my channel and Fy Nyth (Welsh for "My Nest") in general, welcome! I'm Ariel. Along with my husband Clay, our dogs, and some poultry, we live in a tiny house on wheels in the mountains of western Wyoming and are working on setting into our own new little homestead. I've been living this lifestyle since 2014 and my wonderful partner has joined me more recently. What will you find if you follow the channel and watch the videos?
Real life here. I try to show the good and the bad. The ups and the downs. What works, and what doesn't. The parts I love (most of it!), and the things that suck. Not just the showroom version of a tiny house, but everyday life in a tiny house. Not just the romantic idea of "homesteading" or off grid life, but the everyday details of this lifestyle. We split wood for heat, fill the water tank from a gravity fed spring, and attempt to grow as much of our own food as possible between the weather and wildlife here. I hope to help others learn from mistakes and make life just a little easier for anyone else interested in pursuing a similar lifestyle.
We live in a somewhat harsh and cold climate, but enjoy the stunning scenery and wildlife that we are surrounded by on a daily basis. You'll also see videos of the nature and wildlife around my home. If you are interested in my photography or purchasing a photo, I'd love if you follow that over at mewe.com/join/arielcelestepho... or ArielCelestePhotography.zenfolio.com!

Don't forget perches for them. Even Littles need them.
There is just something enchanting about wee life forms no matter if they're feathered, furred, duck billed, hoofed, or whatever. Glad you finally got to have critters instead of just veggies. Thanks for today's video, Ariel.
Yeah baby things are pretty cute!
❤❤❤🕊️ always like to rewatch
I think Clay brings out the girl in you....( that’s meant as a compliment!). Every time I hear you mention his name, I see the happiness in your expression 💕
He is a wonderful companion in life!
I love chickens too! I've raised them most of my life, from being a kid on a ranch to being retired on 1/2 acre in town. They are so interesting and offer great value in cleaning up weeds, bugs and giving eggs. I don't raise meat birds, but if things get too crazy I might. It's so great to seeing you get to live the life you want, and now on your own land. Congrats!
You did good Ariel. You have a nice start to your new homestead property. I'm enjoying watching it being made into your own from the very beginning. Thanks for bringing us along. A big hug to Burley from me too. 🤗
Among so many things, I admire your committed use of recycled materials❤
You amaze me ….
Totally self sufficient!!!
Thanks Ariel. No poetic word images from me today. The poetry coming to life is all in your work and those beautiful chickens.
"I was a little bit impressed with myself. I built it all by myself."
"Clay said it didn't look too bad." 🤣🤣🤣.
Second good laugh you've given me today! Blessings and thanks, I needed them. 🙏👏👍👍❤️
Great build. The chicks seem to like it. Food ,water ,sunshine plus mealworms =happiness. 💕from Ky.
OMG, the chicks are soooo adorable!
They are adorable little chicks.
Free lumber...liquid gold! Looks great! 🤠
You’re really getting after things, neighbor! What an inspiration you are!!! Good job!
So lovely those little beasties. Wonderful!
Love your chicken and duck tractor! Well done!
Great job on the chicken tractors!
YOU GO GIRL!
They are so cute 🐥🐣 reminds me when I had chickens on my home stead. I could watch them for hours 🐥
Your life is such an adventure!
Thank you so much! They are so funny
😄😄😄😄
My husband and I look forward to each of your videos! I love seeing how you are doing this and that; using what’s available, and sharing with all of us. The chicks and ducklings are adorable!
I could watch them all day! Thanks
Love you creations! Chick's are so cute!🐥💖
Those chicks are cute and have lovely coloring
Those chuckles have a great mama😄😊🥰😃🎉🤩❤️🙏🏻
Ariel this is so fun. Watching you is very soothing. I hope you are enjoying your new home location.
Loving your vids as you build your new homestead. Greetings from Australia.
I love chickens and ducks! You made me smile!
It's like they are playing follow the leader. You made a beautiful play pen for your chicks. Well done 😊👋
It always amazes me how fast baby chicks grow 😱
Ha! That was fun to watch! One coop I made was a dog kennel, 6’x12’, with a roost and a blue tarp! If you want chickens, or anything, is just make it!
We found tapping the scrap bucket worked so anybody can gather them, not just you. Visiting kids love to tap the bucket and see the flock come running!
That's a great set up! 👍🏻
Happy little chicks…..
When I had chickens, I used to sit and watch them a lot - we called it “chicken TV”! 😂🤣😂 They all have unique personalities and are so much fun. It’s so sweet to see your little feathered babies! 💗
I like your chicken tractor design. It's smaller and seems much more manageable than the larger ones I've seen other homesteaders build. Thanks for the encouragement, too! It definitely seems like something I could do.
Very nice ! I like the hanging feeder. 👍👍
Yet another Fascinating video, thank you Ariel .. 👌
Great idea you had Ariel. The 👍👍❤
Great job Ariel!
The chicken/ duck tractors turned out wonderful!
The new homestead is looking awesome.
Wow! You did a great job on the pen, love watching them, looking forward to watching your progress❤️💕❤️💕❤️
Chicken Tractor. Would be a good name for a country band.
I like that she thanks us for watching but id also like to thank you for making the videos i always look forward to watching these
Aww you're welcome!
Coming right along…
Nice job.
The green shovel never gets a break.
@Paul Caskey I’ve been convinced to get one definitely. It’s a workhorse like Ariel & Clay.
It is a wonderful and durable tool!
@@FyNyth In the time you’ve had that one I’ve gone through 4 shovels. Wish I’d bought yours when I first discovered in your Amazon store.
Nice job on the chicken tractors! The little chicks are growing so fast. How do you manage to tear yourself away from watching the chicks and ducks all day?
Your all kinds of creative. Thanks for sharing. Have a super extra wonderful day/evening.
You are certainly a lady with vision and common sense talent. With common sense it is amazing what can be achieved
Good job! You are right! They are so cute!
So simple, going to make one😁😍😀
I like that you make do with what you have where are and when you can. Clay is apparently cut from the same cloth, making you two a matched set. And your 'chicken tractor', I like it very much.
It looks really cool 🙂👏👍
Loved watching them swim in the creek! They're so Cute! I love the way you repurpose things! 💗
Great video 👍 Blessings ❤️
"Do what you got at where you're at" ... or something like that ... WISE advice! Lots of good info as always. Thank you!!
Have been loving your videos of all your new projects. The ducks and chicks are so adorable! And you are a real inspiration to anyone but especially women to get things done on their own. Just need a little self confidence. And who cares if there's a fail - it's a learning experience. Thanks for the great content!
Ariel, if you put eye bolts on the leading edge of the tractor you can attach a rope to pull it. Will save some on your back. As usual you have outdone yourself.
Chickies 😄😂🤦♀️🤩
Well done doing all that, happy creatures, less unwanted bugs, manured grass! Thank you for the video and best wishes from the UK.
Very cool!!! 👍👍👍😏🇨🇦
Omg the baby chicks are SOOOO cute! Kudos to you on the 2 builds! You did a great job! 👏👏👏
You've given good encouragement to those who think they can't; we should just try anyway. Just for example, I'm an old lady and I wanted a demilune table for a plant stand but could not afford to buy. Since there was no one telling me I couldn't, I decided to go for it using an old closet pole and a scrap of plywood. Worked out just fine. Can't keep plants on it, though, because the cats like it for a seat! Your chicken tractors are wonderful! But I have two questions (as someone who has built a few small things but am completely without skill myself). First, what did you use for corner bracing for the wood? Asking because I'm thinking of how secure/ tight it will remain when moved. Second, and more importantly, have you thought about the water collection issue that seems likely to result from the folds on the tarp? 10:09 I kinda think that instead of being folded to the center and leaving a well, it would be better to fold to the side with the flappy parts facing down. Just a thought.
Nice! For the corners I just screwed the boards together from several sides and angles. I thought about that with the tarp but could not get it to fit as snuggly that way. Besides, these are for summer use and it almost never rains here so I think it will be ok.
@@FyNyth Just a thought: I've used metal plumbing strapping to repair split wood on the seat on an old chair (screwed it to the bottom where it can't be seen) and other things as well--lots of holes to screw into, can be bent however you need it. Makes great cheap bracing when needed. We get rain by the foot here in the summer, so I always think that others may be similarly afflicted. Good luck with the birdies! They are so cute.
i am usually just entertained by the "off the grid" ideas and lifestyle i watched this whole video just cause ya looked great!
Dang I love the music! Your channel just gets better and better!!
Rob,from Little House Offgrid built a coop/nesting/laying box from leftovers he had. It's on wheels, uses grapevine for roosting perches and his fencing attaches so it moves with it. You might want to check his videos out.
Inspiration to us all!
Wonderful! Offering; a small diameter tube will allow a glide reaction. Lay it on the ground in front and lift the front up an inch or so onto the rod and pull slowly so as not to absorb the chicks. Hope that helps. Love the old digs in the new dirt. Wishing abundance and happiness for you both.
What a great idea… especially having the land to be able to do that! And so natural for the chickens!
This is great! I had full grown chickens when I moved off grid, but this spring was thinking about adding some new ones. Thanks for sharing how you have made it work!
They are so cute with such beautiful colouring. Great job on the enclosure!!
You are such a wonderful Mommie to your animals!💕 I love watching them, thank you for sharing, it makes my day!🌷
Thank you for all your sweet video. I would love to have such a nice place with a tiny house, garden, dog and so and so...Louise xx
Looks good. Make sure the board with the handle is attached well enough to not be pulled off while dragging it around. Maybe a bracket on each end of that board.
Now go and get yourself a two wheel dolly cart, or hand truck. I got one at a cheap tool store on sale for $29. I too have two little tractors same as yours and one made from two full cattle panels that is 8' x 8' that I can walk in. The little pens get too small real soon, but they are well worth having anyway - they come in really handy as a broody home ( with a plastic tote nesting box), or a place to isolate future chicks, or even as a hospital pen if somebody has a wound to heal, a rooster jail to give hens a break, a place to fatten out surplus roo chicks to fryers if you hatch your own or get straight run chicks, or for several other things. With one of them carts, you just slip the plate under one end and catch the 2 bye, raise by pulling the back handle of the cart over some, and drag the other end - I wish that I'd have figured it out 3 or 4 years before I did - I was scooting them just as you said you would before that. Besides, next thing you know, you'll be packing bags of feed, barrels, block, etc with your dolly cart (maybe even a 5 gallon jug of water out to where you need to move some thirsty chickens anyway two birds with one stone lol ) - sometimes a wheel barrow, sometimes a wagon, but it seems like many times, a two wheel dolly can't be beat - them little chicken tractors are one of those times - best $40 I ever spent ($40 because I changed air tires to 'never go flat' tires for like $4.99 each).
THIS one I'm saving under my tiny house playlist cause thst looks like a good design for me to copy.
I’m just impressed you do it all in a skirt. 💯
I once saw a chicken cage ( run? coop, corral?) I don't know the proper term, but this enclosure was built around the garden. It was tall enough to walk inside and went all the way around the garden, creating sort of a bug eating barrier around the garden. It might have been in Mother Earth News, very cool. I can see how this moving the tractor would end up also enriching the soil all over your property! Very much enjoy watching your progress with the new place,Thank You!
💖
Oh Ariel, you did a beautiful job! I know from watching your channel you wanted chicks for a long time! The happiness in your face and love for them really shows! I hope they grow up big and bless you! Just watch for snakes. And the bears. I didnt know you married Clay, but that is wonderful! Many blessings to you!
The only snakes that live around here are very small garter snakes and I love having them in the garden. Though I haven't seen one in a while. But hopefully if one does come around they stay away from the chickens so they chickens don't kill them. And thank you!
Jeanette c did I miss something? I didn’t see where she said they were married. Just wondering I love Ariel and I’m so happy for her and Clay!
@@tamerakosa6168 Good Morning, its in description box.
Ecclesiastes 1:9. You're right about probably not ever having an original thought. Me either. Saves me from reinventing the wheel everyday.
Great job on the chicken tractor! Suggestion : at the back where you folded the tarp if you can refold it to where the side triangles are inside of the back flap. The way it is now rain and snow will collect between the back and the two triangles.
GReat idea to use what you already have.
Wow go girl..this is such good work.Smart being able to move it around for fresh ground..really good advice for good animals care..more like in the wild. Dog companion as always. Your clothing style is also good practical and could wear anywhere for anything. .
Thanks for the lessons. Sure you will have more beautiful photos for your collection. Check out her nature photos ppl.
They are fantastic!
Just found you again!! So glad to see you!
Great work, Ariel! It aught'a be a chicken tractor for a long time! I built a greenhouse with two 16 ft. x 50 inch cattle panels last year in the same way. I did a couple-minute video showing it, if you'd care to look sometime.
I am loving your videos and how you make things
The chicks like to perch.
They are making a game at going over the feeder handle.
I have met wonderful chickens. You are gonna raise some good ones. Chick that, all day!!! Thanks for sharing!!
Looks great. Zip ties are wonderful.
very nice. you did a great job. you impress me so much. I love your videos
👌🏾❤️❤️
so fun...they grow so fast
Those wide open skies must be so exhilarating for you.
They are like little Conestoga chickie wagons. Westward Ho!
Awesome! I have been a do it yourself gal all my life and making do with what I had a lot of the times, nothing wrong with that, in fact it makes you think outside the box and be more creative. An idea to make moving that a bit easier staple some recycled hard plastic to the bottom edges that drags across the ground, it could also help it last longer from rot if you did the entire bottom edges.
Good on you for giving your building skills a life. Can I give a tip I learnt esp for wet weather. When folding the ends of your cover tarp , fold the corner edges in first and then bring the flat centre flat over them, then seal with staples etc. The way you have it now will allow water into the folds etc. I learnt all this on my homemade Guinea pig cages. I love watchingvyou live a life I've lived and had so much pleasure from. love & blessings from an Aussie Nan Down Under 🤗👍🇦🇺
