  • Living in the middle of a lot of wildlife has it's ups and downs. I always find nature amazing. Always efficient, never wasteful, often beautiful, sometimes cruel. But being in a place to see all those sides of nature is something many are not able to do. So I like to share what I see around me.
    **********↓ Click Show More For More Info! ↓**********
    If you are new to my channel and Fy Nyth (Welsh for "My Nest") in general, welcome! I'm Ariel. I live off grid (as in no physical connection to public utilities) in a tiny house on wheels in the mountains of western Wyoming. I've been living this lifestyle since 2014 and love it! What will you find if you follow my channel and watch my videos?
    Real life here. I try to show the good and the bad. The ups and the downs. What works, and what doesn't. The parts I love (most of it!), and the things that suck. Not just the showroom version of a tiny house, but everyday life in a tiny house. Not just the romantic idea of "homesteading" or off grid life, but the everyday details of this lifestyle. I split my own wood for heat, carry my water by hand, and attempt to grow as much of my own food as I can between the weather and wildlife here. I hope to help others learn from my mistakes and make life just a little easier for anyone else interested in pursuing a similar lifestyle.
    I live in a somewhat harsh and cold climate, but enjoy the stunning sceanery and wildlife that I am surrounded by on a daily basis. You'll also see videos of of the nature and wildlife around my home. If you are interested in my photography or purchasing a photo, I'd love if you follow that over at mewe.com/join/arielcelestepho... or ArielCelestePhotography.zenfolio.com!
    Also find my blog at fynyth.blogspot.com or join Fy Nyth on social media at mewe.com/i/fynyth .
    For a bit of my background, as a child, I was fortunate enough to be able to spend much of my free time exploring and playing in the woods. Little has changed now that I'm older I suppose. I moved to a place with a bigger woods and still enjoy spending my time outside gardening, hiking, exploring, and photographing the natural world around me. As the eldest of seven children who grew up in a homeschooling family, I had the opportunity, not always appreciated at the time, to learn to do quite a bit of work. I've enjoyed a wide range of jobs, everything from greenhouses and flower arranging to wilderness therapy with teens, to milking cows. Mostly, I enjoy doing the kinds of things that I think provide a real service or value to others. Some of my other hobbies include backpacking, hosting people, cooking, preserving food, anything to do with nutrition, reading, journalling, and sitting around a fire and talking to my close friends.

    Awww how sweet she's taken refuge at your peaceful place. I wish her well too. My hubby found a pair of stray pups while deer hunting one year and my brother wanted to shoot them thinking they would eventually kill off the deer population on our property but my husband said no and brought her home to us. We named her "Lil Orphan Annie" 'Annie' for short. She was the best dog we ever had. I had her house trained in less than 3 weeks.

    If you haven’t already picked a name out, I would like to suggest “Molly”. Sweet, peaceful, and calm name, just like the surrounding she now calls home. Thank you for sharing your life with us. I used to watch your video with my mother, but now well... I watch them alone. I’d like to think my mother is watching over you and Molly in real time. GOD bless and take care. Agree, I think she’s comforted being near you, she feels safe and not so alone.
      Ariel, is there any chance another mama moose would adopt her if their paths should meet? That exact situation occurred this year for an abandoned baby rhesus macaque in Hong Kong. The mother abandoned him which isn’t common (perhaps postpartum depression) and another mother who’d recently given birth happened by him, picked him up and is raising both. She’s a fantastic mom who treats and feeds both equally showing no favoritism. Both baby boys are doing great and it’s been over 8 months so far.
      A similar situation occurred a few years ago among snow monkeys in Japan and I’ve seen videos of other animals also adopting, even babies of a different species sometimes. The maternal instinct is strong especially during hormonal surges after giving birth.
      Anyway, I’d love to see your baby girl find a new mom. I like the name Annie too since she’s a little orphan. :- )

    • @FyNyth
      @FyNyth  3 роки тому +2

      I've seen in happen in bears, goats, and some other species. But Fish and Game said they have tried it with moose and most of the time the mother tries to kill the baby that is not hers. :(

    • @leslie6938
      @leslie6938 3 роки тому +2

      @@FyNyth Thank you Ariel, and it's great they've tried it, also good to know it's too risky. I don't know much about moose but think they tend to be loners rather than herd animals, maybe baby adoption only works for more social or society-oriented animals. Bears kind of blow that theory though.
      Hopefully your Baby Girl will make it on her own.

    Well hello stranger been a long time since our paths crossed and Brailey has grown into a fine specimen of dog hood.
    Lindie as I think her name should be needs food in the form of hay, grass or a mixed diet of bark and something nutritional, otherwise as you clearly state she will not last the coming months but seems rather timid and has seen your active, so fears nothing. Cheers Ariel and you back on my subscription list.

    Good morning from Nz. My gut instinct would tell me "Don't Intervene." This is nature in the raw. Not being from your country, and not aware of what predators are about, she could possibly provide food for a mountain lion and/or her cubs. It's called the "Cycle of Life." Just a quick search on Google tells me that moose in your country, are not an endangered species. In fact the comment reads "population increasing." So I would leave it, and let nature do it's thing. In other words, don't let yourself become emotionally attached. I'm loving your channel. Take care and stay safe.

    Baby Girl is a perfect name for her. She's staying there for several reasons I think. As you said, the shoveled paths are easy for her. Plenty of food and she sees and hears you and senses your concern for her so she's less lonely. I get what you mean about being neat to observe her but still having heart ache for her.🥺

    Ariel & Burley, how nice to see you both. THANK YOU Ariel for sharing this with us. It is a bitter sweet taste of wild life. I'm hoping that Baby Girl (which is the perfect name) will end up with the sweet taste. She is so pretty and she seems to feel safe with you moving around. Ariel, could she possibly make you land her home? If so, are you allowed to touch her? She looks at you like she would like to come up to you. Also, how does such a large creature live on twigs and branches? You are marvelous! To be able to love and enjoy such a beautiful creature yet have the strength to do the right thing by not stressing her out any more than she is already. I think she loves it there with You and Burley. I hope that you will share any updates about Baby Girl if possible. As always, Love from St Louis, MO

    I would call her Annie for "Orphan Annie"!❤ You captured some great footage of her and the lovely scenery at your house. It's sad knowing she's all along to fend for herself. She's really special. She reminds me of the old song "Wayfaring Stranger" as she wanders through the woods. Speaking of song, I loved the music you played throughout the video. I would love to know the name as I just got a piano and am looking for music to play! Would love an update on Baby Girl too if she stays a while longer. Bless her heart. She feels safe at your home🥰 It's good to see your videos again!👋

    Awww, this was sorta bittersweet Ariel. I loved seeing the little moose, but knowing she is orphaned/abandoned is heart wrenching. Her little face just has that forlorn look to me. Like where's my mama, what do I do next, where do I go, etc. I have to admit shedding some tears. I know this is just something unfortunate that happens with wildlife, but it's still kind of hard accepting it. I'm the type when I see cows or horses in a field when snowing, I want to take them to a warm barn with a big hay bed to lay on and cover them in warm blankets....lol. Thank you for sharing your video with us, and it was wonderful to see you and Mr. Burley again, and sitting by your little fireplace to boot........so cozy. Love and hugs from ol' lady Karen in Iowa.

    My heart is sad for her, hope every thing turns out ok. Ariel I miss your videos especially the cooking videos.
    That's a heap big Mountain Lion you captured on your trail camera awhile back.
    I would think about getting a stainless steel mesh collar for yourself and your doggie. A Cougar likes to attack
    from the rear, and they go for the neck, if that happens you will be dead in about 3 seconds.

    I can't "Thank You" enough for sharing... And explaining the local policies of Fish and Game... Like it or not, it does make sense... But so does praying and sending good thoughts to her for her future. I also think that intuitively she is very smart, she came to your and Burley's "safe haven" to rest, eat and get her bearings. So, I am happy to have just a small glimpse at nature at it's best... With both you and Burley respectfully keeping your distance, allowing her to feel safe and then at her own pace... Move on to her future...

    So good to see you and Burley today. I love all the snow you got this year. I wish we had received much more of the white stuff. Thank you for the lovely visit in the great outdoors complete with a wee moose. Stay safe and healthy and happy!

    Good to see you Ariel and Burley. Baby Girl is a good name. I’m so glad she’s eating and drinking. I think she’ll be ok, you may have a resident moose friend for life. I bet she likes your paths because it’s warmer for her and they are high like her mama. Thanks for sharing her with us. Wildlife is amazing to watch though cruel sometimes. That music is to gloomy for Baby Girl. Lol
    Take care
