It's always the minor things that get overlooked! Glad you found one in good shape! I'm happy that we're over the heatwave phase right now. It's in the 50°s at night & 70°s during the day, much better working weather. Can't wait to see a completed engine!
We keep getting pop up storms and killer humidity down here...plus that storm Nicolas just went right through my town, been through worse but its stalled anything truck related for a bit. Crazy times man
Thanks Bob, I'm doing my best but these builders aren't helping much lol, I'm at a big standstill currently waiting on everyone to finish but they are all WAY behind schedule... frustrating for sure!
Great savings on the *cowl* James! 😀 You can't beat pickNpull. Like you mentioned, that engine was getting tired from the looks of the bearings. 😬 I hope things are well for you and your family. Take care 🙂🔧
Got lucky and saved a few buck FINALLY on this build. That hurricane kicked our butts a bit and works been crazy leaving no time for any hobbies....cant wait for things to slow down a bit. We're all good here Zane, I hope you're doing well also brother!
Had some wear but nothing catastrophic. Probably could've just left it alone and slapped a blower on and counted the days until it torpedoed lol. Good to hear from ya brother! Hope all is well!
Glad you managed to find a cowl. At the end of the day finding used parts at the pick N’ pull saves quite a bit of coin💲. I’m no engine expert by any means but it looks like you got that engine block rebuilt at the perfect time. Can’t imagine it goin that much further with the copper exposed on the bearing like that. Awesome vid as always bro, hope you have a great rest of your week😀👍!!
Finally saved money on this rebuild, even if it was just the cowl lol...motor probably would've made it a bit more but a failure was coming sooner than later on that engine I think. I'm stuck waiting on every builder and painter now, very frustrating but its hurry up and wait right now for me...that hurricane didn't help matters either lol. Hope you're doing well Cody! Good to hear from ya!
When your lightning is ready to drive you should install traction bars, they get rid of the wheel hop. I'll follow your series on this build and try to give tips!
@@3rdcoastobs467 I've got a 94' in red which I had pretty much as I needed to spend as a budget, it has gone through 3 supercharged engines and now it it makes around 600hp, also just put a fast xfi 2.0 in it.
Damn that's a slick truck! I originally wanted a supercharger on the stock 351 but it was too beat up and no way it would hold. When the costs started adding up I just threw my wallet at a forged rotating assembly on a 408 stoker kit. Hopefully I'll add a blower in a few years to get me to that 550+ at the wheels but I'll settle for 490-500 on a n/a now. The trans is built to hold min 600hp but I'm worried the rear end and fuel system will by sub par...lots of things start adding up when you dig in, very disheartening lol
@@3rdcoastobs467 Forgot to mention a cool feature which you might not know about, look at the lightning bolt under "lightning" in the sun, its prismatic. (Look at it from different angles)
Darn I sure wish I had junkyards around here like that. Most around here are small and want a pretty penny for parts. I need parts for my dodge 1 ton dually project but can't find a good cab and frame anywhere.
If only I was a mgr at pick n Pull still... I do have a ton of extra parts bro let me know what you need. I have alot. Triangle windows to uncracked dash parts. Alot lol
@@3rdcoastobs467 I literally repainted the truck metallic blue for the guy who bought it. I sold it because I got an amazing job offer in Denver and a 2 wheel 1/2 ton won't cut it up here
No telling how often the previous owners did changes. 189k on the ticker and a bunch of ragging her out for sure. I'm no mechanic by any means but the builder went over the bearings and other misc parts I got back. He called it copper from wear rubbing off over time. The pan was really sludged up too. Poor truck was hurting, itll be back to top shape soon hopefully.
Glad you came home with a salvageable cowl. Great job!
I love you!
You have a bunch of old parts to build some really cool stuff with lol 😆, like tables, coat hangers, ect
My thoughts exactly 😂

Good u found another one mate that wasn't so rusted out progressing nicely.
Was it great shape, very happy to save money and grab it!
Glad you found a usable cowl. It was worth the sweat for that kind of savings! Those bearings have definitely seen better days, but not bad for 189k.

Appreciate that man. That's in the plans for sure but im running out of cash for the paint motor and trans... but that's an upgrade im doing for sure!

It always feels awkward trying to record at the salvage yard with people walking around looking at you lol
😂🤣 I hate that, I'm walking around filming and trying to whisper while I work, I feel so dumb out there

man, im searching for the dark grey interior parts/trim on our trucks. I need a dash, trim piece over the passenger and driver, tons of stuff 😂😂.

That "copper" is burned oil. Tends to happen when you go too long before oil changes or if you run the truck on low oil.

Looks like the Carson City Nevada location.. they're all the same setup
Very true...we have 3 in Houston and I couldn't tell ya the difference in layout in any of them just the longer drive times to get to each one lol
How's the L build going? C'mon man, your my inspiration for mine!
Perfect timing on this question, I pick it up today from the paint shop. Its Been there since last June (long story). Time to start working again
