The POR-15 did a number on that frame. Sure does make a big difference, and it looks like the core support you bought was worth the money. That homemade puller you built by the way is pure genius. I honestly had no idea it took that much force to remove those. Another great video James!😀👍.
POR-15 aint no joke, i was stained up for a week afterwards too lol but It really cleaned up the frame nicely. when i finally get the truck back ill finish off the back part of the frame and the rear end. Man the first passenger floor board one i took off sounded like a 410 shotgun blast, i about jumped out of my skin. thanks cody!
Man, were doing the exact same build so far. Pulled my e4od, then the bed, the core support, the fenders, now the engine. I just got my radiator support from Summit and my body suspension kit from energy suspension via summit also. Best of luck buddy mine is a red 93 hopefully be a show truck by the time were done.
Expensive hobby we have isnt it 🤣. What are you doing to the motor, you doing a stroker too? If I had it to do all over I would have pulled my bed before paint. My paint guy is good but they all have excuses for time and quality they put out *after* the coax you into using their shop. Hope she turns out perfect in the end brother, would love to see it!
Great video buddy! 😀👍 I like the home made rubber mount puller you came up with! Gets the job done! I had no idea on the force though! 😲 That could ruin a guys day if he wasn't careful. Nice job on the POR-15 too! 🙂👍🔧
i think my stablizer was turned off, its a little herky jerky but ya just have to make due sometimes lol. I had a fit trying to figure out that i even needed the pully at first lol. and i lost my footage of pulling the gas tank, footage looked glitchy and purple for some reason so i was a little disappointed. i think the por-15 cleaned it up a bit under there, once i get the truck back from paint i'll finish the rest of the frame and rear end. thanks as always Zane!
In case nobody has said it yet, sometimes the body lines don't line up with the new bushings and those extra washers can be used as spacers to help line them up a little better if you need to
been going by the paint shop every week trying to film any progress that ill hopefully splice together when its finally finished. we'll see if it will work out lol. that pulley saved my life, i edited out where it took me 30 minutes to figure out i needed one lol!
Thanks for the heads up on making that puller, I plan on changing mine at some point and not discovering needing the puller while in the midst of tearing everything apart will be helpful lol. No front tank on mine though so that will make things a little easier.
I wasted about 30 minutes thinking a screwed up big time before i found that "how to" on the puller lol. they got some force coming off, and i wanted to show lifting the cab up but it got a little sketchy so i had to drop the camera. without a front tank it should be a breeze ( hopefully) the rear cab bolts on mine were a tad rusted though which could be a problem on salted road trucks i bet.
@@3rdcoastobs467 I'm a loyal supporter lol. I was gonna watch a Keith whitley live show from the 80s on TV until I seen you uploaded a video. So I figured why not lol
Well, on the plus side it exposes the frame for paint! It's also a good time to replace the brake lines! Those body mount bushings are a pain. Energy Suspension makes some good products though, you'll like them. Now I know that you didn't get stainless steel unistrut from Lowe's. Should have grabbed some B7/L7 all thread from the discount store while you were there! Looking though! Keeping it the factory color or going a different route? Let me know what you want to do with that rear bumper.
Dude that tank really kicked my butt though. I basically had all these videos filmed in 4 days of work ( which explains the lack of in depth looks and jerky camera movement. I overloaded the engine pull, trans shipment, body mount bushings and removing the cowl and tailgate. i was glad to be free of the truck after that letting other shops do their job. Im for sure going back with the original lightning 93 E4 paint code (vermillion red i think) but im going to do what the factory didnt do in 1993, im adding a nice clear coat! So the bumper is actually good to go, i went over all the dents and inner rust with the shop. they can handle all of it, down to blasting the insides so thankfully im in good shape there....but i just found out now i have to track down a new cowl because theres to much rust on my original...dangit. hoping the brake lines are still good, but i wont know until i get the truck back but youre right, i'll be changing them out and upgrading if needed. we'll see
good videos but you never uploaded more videos of this lightnig truck Did you finish the project or not or what was the reason you didn't upload more videos?
I don’t think so brad. The split piece pressed fittings acts as a washer and nut all in one, looked into it myself because the kit without the hardware is a lot cheaper. On my other truck (‘13 F250) you can “if” the hardware isnt rusted out. On this truck The factory bolts seems a bit shorter and you’re probably gonna need those washers and spacers that Energy Suspension sends...although I wish I had maybe upgraded the locknuts they provided.

Could you use all the Ford hardware and just use the energy suspension rubber mounts?
