I'd argue you could learn on the HS1250, you could grow into it, it handles speed, it works in tiny waves, it has glide, it pumps well. Ii think it's the best all around wing if I could only choose one. The CF1660 is just to slow and I waste energy pumping, but it carves.. The Cf1200 is a bit faster and carves, but the pump just sucks, in my use. The 1125 can be difficult to turn in surf but speed and glide are insane. 925 is stupid fast, ridiculously nimble for its size, glides forever, pumps easy, just different than a HS or CF. Out of all my wings, I'm constantly going to my HS1250. The 925 is great, but it can be finnicky and hard to pop up and not breach or dive in weird conditions with nasty undertow. The pump is next level. I kinda bend my knees a wee bit and just quickly bounce up and down and it just goes. I'm barely even trying. But at a certain speed, she just drops outta nowhere. Very unforgiving if your pitch angle isn't perfect and board isn't almost perfectly level pumping. Tricky wing to master, but a great upgrade if you're ready.
Stoked you are coming to Cape Hatteras. It is a great place for all things foil. What size and model of foil really depends on your weight and skill set. A good starting point is the HS1500 v2. That works in a huge range of conditions for a huge range of people.
1550v2, 1250 may work to. If you wanna save money, snag a CF1600 bt expect to upgrade after a few months. CF1600 is ridiculously slow and you waste lots of energy pumping and simply trying to generate speed. The 1250 and 1550v2 will have plenty of low end lift, but can max out the speed and still carve and have fun. They are more efficient so your pumps will create speed and get you back out. The 1600 is EASY to pump, but is slow and won't get you that far, for the energy you put out.
IMHO either you have to be a kite foiler or be towed behind a jet/boat, go from surfboard to surf-foil is for 1% or less of the surfing population, I would say consider at least WING FOIL first then something else, I am not saying it's impossible cause miracles happen but....
@@claudiobertadeazevedo4669 - I'm going with Wing foiling to get my bearings, it seems to be the most logical path to being comfortable on foil from my background. Hoping Santa has a wing under the tree for me 😃
@@claudiobertadeazevedo4669I only surfed a couple years before buying my foil and haven’t surfed since. It’s just that good. If the waves are REALLY good I’ll go surf. But where I’m at, the waves are pretty much always super small

Great feedback. Love to hear from other Armstrong foilers that are frothing on sessions.
What do you suggest for a never ever foiler? I'll be in HAT for first two weeks of October and want to try it out. Been surfing forever.
