Turn ANY website into a MacOS APP

- Learn how to make your favourite websites into dedicated apps on MacOS. Be it Netflix, Disney Plus, UA-cam or something else, you can have a custom app for most commonly-used websites.
I show two options, one using Fluid App (fluidapp.com/) and the other using Coherence X (www.bzgapps.com/coherence).
As mentioned in the video, you can get Coherence X as part of a Setapp subscription (setapp.com/).

Looks great will definitely be giving this a go 👍🏻
Awesome! Will definitely try it
Very interesting !!!! Keep sharing !!!!
Used to do some cool automation with Fluid. Good app.
Thank you very very much
Thank you! Do I need to sign into a service like Netflix every time I open the app? I guess I won't be able to use password managers, so would have to sign in manually each time?
Why you don't use the Chrome internal functionality?
It's great. Do you know any way to create app on Apple TV device?
Sadly not. That would be very nice though!
Great tutorial. I'm not being snarky when I ask this question, but why would you want to create an app from a website? I'm all in. I have setapp. I'm trying to learn more about this stuff, so knowing the benefits will help. Thanks for your video again! :)
It's for web apps that don't have a native desktop version to make them more like a native version
I can't use Whats app web on that app. It doesn't generate the QR code. I know there is an already Mac App for MAC but i use to phones! One for Personal and another for work. Can you help me?
Okay, so all these apps are basically using something like Electron or Webkit as a backend to display a webpage, and add shortcuts and icons. Both those technologies are free on Git. They're charging you quite a bit for a 10 minute code job.
10 minutes after you've spent the hours/days/weeks learning to code. Not really the same thing.
Both rely on Chromium in one for another? What if you are a vivid safari user? :) A browser video, also a good idea.
Will you be doing more Apple Shortcuts and Raspberry Pi videos?
For sure. I'm working on a few threads of content at the moment: a complete update of the Pi/iPad stuff (a lot has changed in two years), a series on Pi projects for the home, and a block of stuff on automation for iOS/MacOS.
@@tech_craft cool thanks
I trusted you and paid for Fluid which doesn't work in the UK.live and learn.
I live in the UK and it works for me. What is the exact issue you are seeing?
Does think work to create an app for iPad or iPhone?
Sadly not - just apps for MacOS.
What are the advantages of doing this over just using the browser?
E.g an unaccompanied minor has less chance to meet inappropriate contents in an app than in a browser with free searching capability.
I'm heavy Command-Tabber, so being able to switch directly to the app is a big plus. Also, the app adds easy discovery through Spotlight which I'm also a fan of.
@@tech_craft Thanks for bringing up those points, I was genuinely curious what the real benefit of this was versus just using chrome but that makes sense.
Why not use Chrome’s built in feature ?
Good question. I'm not much of a Chrome user myself. For this use case I try to use Brave wherever I can, and only switch to Chrome when the website in question won't play ball.
With Coherence X I get to do both in the same app. If you're a Chrome user then the built-in Chrome approach is probably a fine choice.
@@tech_craft what about Microsoft Edge that uses the same engine as Chrome now ?
@@iscaro78 I'll have to try that. I keep forgetting that Edge is available! I think I'll probably have the same objections though - I prefer Brave/Firefox for the privacy improvements, small as they might be in reality!
@@tech_craft this feature is also available on brave, i'm using it everyday too
Didn’t teach me anything. Talks way too fast and just does it without explaining what he is doing??????
What about the video did you think wasn’t clear? Also, there are speed controls you can use but I’m sure you’re more than aware of that.
He did a great job!
