    Pour part A of your resin in cup on scale, zero out scale and pour part B...You'll save 2 cups. I've adopted your vacuum bag idea. Thank you! Just figured I'd pass a tip ak9mg. I've learned much more from you than I could return. 😊

    Any reason why when mixing resin you don't weight Part A in the cup, and then zero the scale with the cup on it, and just add the right amount of Part B to the same cup?

    • @BlackBeardProjects
      @BlackBeardProjects  5 років тому

      Thanks!! Yeah, I think it's better to pour both parts at the same time in a mixing cup so they mix better, I've heard it would also be better to pour first in another cup after mixing so you avoid any unmixed part in your project. Just a precaution anyway!

  • @vedranlatin1386
    @vedranlatin1386 5 років тому

    Why are you using three mixing cups? SImply measure A into a cup, press tare button on the scales, measure B into the same cup and mix.Less cups and less error.

    • @BlackBeardProjects
      @BlackBeardProjects  5 років тому

      Just a precaution to avoid unmixed resin, pouring two parts at the same time make it's better for mixing they say! I've also heard it's better to pour first in another cup after mixing for the same reason.

    • @vedranlatin1386
      @vedranlatin1386 5 років тому

      @@BlackBeardProjects That's wrong IHMO. Three cups only make sense when mixing by volume since then there's no tare button to help you out. I believe the correct three cup procedure is measure A in first, measure B in second, pour into third, mix, pour into first, mix pour into second, mix. When you think about it, some resin will stick to the cup no matter what you do. Since normally you use more component A and the amount that sticks to the cup is not proportional to the measured amount you're actually introducing the error into the process.
      I mix in a single cup, first weigh in the more voluminous component (usually A), then B, all the time paying attention to target the center of the cup (no sense putting it on the walls). I then mix thoroughly, say 100 stirs, then stir while I tilt and rotate the cup so mixed resin gets higher on the walls then either A or B did by themselves. This takes care of any unmixed resin sticking to the walls. After that I stir about 100 more times and I've never had problems. L285 I like to use has clear A and bluish B so you can tell when it's correctly mixed. Using this technique I've mixed 1.4 gram of resin repeatedly without issues. I think I once even did 0.7g.
