I like cork a lot! I like the texture and feel of it. While visiting Ikea I found this pack of mats for very cheap like 6€ and bought them to use as liners or spacer in handles.
Since that worked out way better than I expected next step is an entire blank made of cork and resin!
Turns out only cork it's a bit plain, it does have a very cool texture but I experimented a bit more and stacked cork with colored cardstock and felt.
I like what came out of this! It's weird, somewhat modern and definetly interesting (to me at least).

Where is the timestamps and explanation? I really love those! 😍 Awesome vid though!
That dragon pendant is so dope!
Does the knife float?

If only it wasn't all made in China. Love the knife tho.
I saw " includes paid promotion" in the bottom left and then I looked at the screen and he pointed at IKEA and I thought he was sponsored by IKEA XD
What a sponsor that would be tho
@@S8tan7 very true

I love this channel!❤️
and I
Oh, very nice! I love to see creative uses for everyday items. Thank you.
DIY stores also sell Cork as floor underlay, it's about 10m2 though, that's a lot of knives!
I wonder if it should be treated like stacked leather? The hidden tang is relying entirely on the resin. For permanency I think it would work best with a tang-through and a pommel?
As he said the resin soaked all the way into the cork, I imagine it wouldn't have any trouble with de-laminating as it would likely act more like a solid resin block, sorta like micarta or G10
I agree it would be stronger with a tang going all the way through.
You’re having fun with the materials. Thank you for sharing your experiments, and I hope you’re having fun!
Be well, and take good care.
I like the blue and the red, those brighter colors really stood out against the brown cork. Nice work
Very nicely done . Even though you used the finished blank on a knife , l have several other tools in mind. I inherited many old tools from my dad , and am thinking that matching handles on all the files would look good . Dovetail saws will also benefit . Thanks for stimulating some ideas . Stay healthy.
That's awesome and has to be extremely comfortable in the hand
This video is one of best satisfying videos on this channel and i rly enjoy it
i have to do something similar but without the resin, i like soft handle, good work man!
Really cool look! Very creative as always!
Incredible end result dude! Love it. Thank you for donating it to our charity raffle!
Super creative idea. Love it!
cool
This material looks really nice when it’s finished
Thanks for the info, going to have to try that. Nice work as always
My Dad gave me a knife he made when he was a teen with a stacked leather handle. This has a lot of he same look - I'm going to make a puuko with a cork handle. Very nice!
That material is awesome! I like how it turned out and I want to see what else you'll use it for! The handle shape wasn't that exciting though. I think it would look better with a geometric shape to it instead of round
I love the look of the cork and colours. You could do something similar with Burch bark.
A nice video to vibe to in the middle of the night
Really nice work on grid i love what you are doing keep doing it as long you like it 👍😀
I have some squares of very dark brown cork that are much thicker that I have been thinking of using in this manner. I thought I might stack it with leather in between.
Цветные бруски, конечно, повеселее выглядят. Удачи в экспериментах.
Very nice!!! love your work, I subscribed with notifications 2 years ago.
Como sempre belas peças! Parabéns 👏👏👏👏👏
👍🏾 this handlematerial looks great...thanks for the inspiration... 😍
That's an interesting looking block of material. What would look even more interesting is if you cut the stacks at an angle and have 2 halves (scales?) before making it into the knife handle you could then get chevron stripes for example on the handle instead of just plain strips either running along or at 90 degrees to the blade.
Good idea i was searching matérial for. Thanks 👍
This is very beautiful. I love your workmanship. I hope you are well in this hot mess 2020 has been.
That looks great. What might be cooler is if you do it so that instead of being perpendicular to the knife tang the layers are at a slight angle to the tang of the knife.
Nice idea i have try it soon!
beautiful!
This is a great idea and looks good to.
just got to find some cork and resin.
yer i think that's doable. cheers mate
nice job on the handle.cheers.
Very original, thanks for sharing !😊🇨🇦
Genius.
I saw someone do it with cork coasters from Ikea once.
I always see cork used by stacking the small squares, never in the long strips(similar to micarta [sp?]). Is there a reason why? If there was contrasting material, like the stack in this with blue material/cork, in the long strips, would it make a interesting pattern when shaped?
Хорошая,идея,интересно посмотреть как ведет себя в воде после склейки
Пробка потому и пробка, что ничего через себя не пропускает и не впитывает

Looks awesome, great job! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
Great idea nicely done.

PARABÉNS
Wow, great stuff man
Looks great.
That’s cool!!
Great stuff as always
Great! 👍 and now I'm curios about the purpose of that single edged knife you applied the handle to 😎 greetings from Germany
Amazing handles!
This is so pretty
Amazing
Awesomeness!
Really nice!
Nice
Great idea 💡 as always. Loved the video. 2 👍🏻
Very Cool an interesting process !!!!!!!!!!!!
Have you considered staining the resin to get different colours of this?
Smart job broo. Keep creative 👍👍
My favorite is the black and blue one
What might be cool to try next, replace the flat calls on the ends with curved cauls. One concave and one convex. This would make curved glue lines /seams
Pretty smart 👍👍
Super cool, man! Great work
Excellent as always but as a challenge I ask can you use the same type of technique to make a longbow?
How about using dyes for the cork or using coloured resin?
Really awesome idea. I would like one with yellow spacers. That's my favorite color. Do you have a store where you sell your knives?
First time I heard sound of racing, I really thought u r near some race track xD
Lovely! :)
Respect from Egypt Man
Very cool bud. Do you fancy playing with some Damascus blades? If so let me know, i am sure we can do a channel colleraboration on this
damascus made of coins?
Listen, friend, it seems to me that there is not enough brass top on this knife, it will have a slightly oriental style and will look more assembled in general, you can even make a brass guard, but if to the end, then a curved-shaped wedge, sorry for my English, with love from Russia🇷🇺😉
Looks useful and purdy nice work
Wauw, that looks fantastic! Ima try this for sure!
How is the weight balance, though?
Siiiick!
Wonderful work ❤️ so creative ...
Nice work. Does the and resin work as well for full tang knives as it does for hidden tang. Must say the cork handle gives the blade a unique look. 👍
Good job and nice knife.
Super Video
Beatiful 👍
Te quedó como el color que usaban los faraones egipcios, hermoso.
Estava a ir loco a recuerdar donde jo he visto la combinacion de colores e usted lo dijiste...Bravo (desculpe el mi espanol macaronico...)

Liked and loved this channel very much.♥️♥️
Very nice.
Awesome informative Video experience 👏 Y'alls God Bless Ya 🙏
I'm trying to remember why I unsubscribed?! You're living my dream life I wish I could do what you do for a living.
You should make a knife entirely from garbage/scrap and or junk like maybe even a little dumpster diving which would be a really cool way to make knife scales from
Belli questi manici. Vorrei sapere se li usi anche per altre tipologie di lame, ad esempio giapponesi da cucina. Inoltre vorrei sapere se con il trattamento con resina quando é asciutto e montato il manico rimane morbido? Grazie
Looks great :)
¿ Is it comfortable to hold on to ?
Gonna go look at Gthic right now.
Would this float or is the cork too dense with the resin? I am thinking it may be useful for my dad on his boat.
Looks great as a katana handle
Does the cork retain it's texture and sponginess after being coated in the resin? I really like the look with the blue, and if the texture remains the same, I would imagine that the handle would be very comfortable in the hand. Great job!!!
I doubt very much the cork would retain its 'sponginess'. The resin soaking and gluing it all together would be rigid and would make the entire handle feel solid also.
