I wonder if it should be treated like stacked leather? The hidden tang is relying entirely on the resin. For permanency I think it would work best with a tang-through and a pommel?
As he said the resin soaked all the way into the cork, I imagine it wouldn't have any trouble with de-laminating as it would likely act more like a solid resin block, sorta like micarta or G10
My Dad gave me a knife he made when he was a teen with a stacked leather handle. This has a lot of he same look - I'm going to make a puuko with a cork handle. Very nice!
Very nicely done . Even though you used the finished blank on a knife , l have several other tools in mind. I inherited many old tools from my dad , and am thinking that matching handles on all the files would look good . Dovetail saws will also benefit . Thanks for stimulating some ideas . Stay healthy.
I have some squares of very dark brown cork that are much thicker that I have been thinking of using in this manner. I thought I might stack it with leather in between.
That looks great. What might be cooler is if you do it so that instead of being perpendicular to the knife tang the layers are at a slight angle to the tang of the knife.
That's an interesting looking block of material. What would look even more interesting is if you cut the stacks at an angle and have 2 halves (scales?) before making it into the knife handle you could then get chevron stripes for example on the handle instead of just plain strips either running along or at 90 degrees to the blade.
Listen, friend, it seems to me that there is not enough brass top on this knife, it will have a slightly oriental style and will look more assembled in general, you can even make a brass guard, but if to the end, then a curved-shaped wedge, sorry for my English, with love from Russia🇷🇺😉
You should make a knife entirely from garbage/scrap and or junk like maybe even a little dumpster diving which would be a really cool way to make knife scales from
That material is awesome! I like how it turned out and I want to see what else you'll use it for! The handle shape wasn't that exciting though. I think it would look better with a geometric shape to it instead of round
I will be honest to you so you may take my comments in consideration to enhance the result in the future ... you did a good effort on making the handle material. . Although I didn't like the choice. I know it was more of a test ... also I didn't like the handle profile. .. since you made a successful attempt then try making micarta it's the same method but different materials but it's so much prettier and stronger 😉
What might be cool to try next, replace the flat calls on the ends with curved cauls. One concave and one convex. This would make curved glue lines /seams
Belli questi manici. Grazie
I always see cork used by stacking the small squares, never in the long strips(similar to micarta [sp?]). Is there a reason why? If there was contrasting material, like the stack in this with blue material/cork, in the long strips, would it make a interesting pattern when shaped?
Does the cork retain it's texture and sponginess after being coated in the resin? I really like the look with the blue, and if the texture remains the same, I would imagine that the handle would be very comfortable in the hand. Great job!!!
I doubt very much the cork would retain its 'sponginess'. The resin soaking and gluing it all together would be rigid and would make the entire handle feel solid also.

I agree it would be stronger with a tang going all the way through.

You’re having fun with the materials. Thank you for sharing your experiments, and I hope you’re having fun!
Be well, and take good care.
DIY stores also sell Cork as floor underlay, it's about 10m2 though, that's a lot of knives!
I like the blue and the red, those brighter colors really stood out against the brown cork. Nice work
Oh, very nice! I love to see creative uses for everyday items. Thank you.
That's awesome and has to be extremely comfortable in the hand
This video is one of best satisfying videos on this channel and i rly enjoy it
A nice video to vibe to in the middle of the night

This is very beautiful. I love your workmanship. I hope you are well in this hot mess 2020 has been.

Nice handel idea 💡 👍👍💪💪
Good job and nice knife.
Good idea i was searching matérial for. Thanks 👍
Great idea 💡 as always. Loved the video. 2 👍🏻
👍🏾 this handlematerial looks great...thanks for the inspiration... 😍
I love the look of the cork and colours. You could do something similar with Burch bark.
Amazing

I love the dragon
i have to do something similar but without the resin, i like soft handle, good work man!
Looks useful and purdy nice work
Wonderful work ❤️ so creative ...
Hmm, how strong/shock resistant would that be?
Looks great.

Nice work. Does the and resin work as well for full tang knives as it does for hidden tang. Must say the cork handle gives the blade a unique look. 👍
The green and blue one are badass! Like your beard, lol. I love cork handle materials, they are awesome! Need one!!! 😂 Cheers mate, good job!
Great looking handle material 👍 😊
Thanks for the info, going to have to try that. Nice work as always
Excellent as always but as a challenge I ask can you use the same type of technique to make a longbow?
I Love IKEA
Really nice!
That’s cool!!
Yes, lunchtime awesome video to watch!
Smart job broo. Keep creative 👍👍

Very cool bud. Do you fancy playing with some Damascus blades? If so let me know, i am sure we can do a channel colleraboration on this
damascus made of coins?
Looks awesome, great job! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
Excelente ideia
Pretty smart 👍👍
Would this float or is the cork too dense with the resin? I am thinking it may be useful for my dad on his boat.
Great idea nicely done.
Wow mantap banget pisau nya juga indah motif nya
Beatiful 👍
Wow, great stuff man
Very nice.

Very nice work and excellent ideas for handle scales. I liked the green. Good work.
This is a great idea and looks good to.
just got to find some cork and resin.
yer i think that's doable. cheers mate
nice job on the handle.cheers.
Have you considered staining the resin to get different colours of this?
Really awesome idea. I would like one with yellow spacers. That's my favorite color. Do you have a store where you sell your knives?
Does the cork retain it's texture and sponginess after being coated in the resin? I really like the look with the blue, and if the texture remains the same, I would imagine that the handle would be very comfortable in the hand. Great job!!!
I doubt very much the cork would retain its 'sponginess'. The resin soaking and gluing it all together would be rigid and would make the entire handle feel solid also.
Great! 👍 and now I'm curios about the purpose of that single edged knife you applied the handle to 😎 greetings from Germany
How about using dyes for the cork or using coloured resin?
